- Make a batch of sloe gin to give as a gift or to keep in the cupboard. The longer you leave it the better the flavour becomes. As well as enjoying it straight you can add a splash of sloe gin to a glass of sparkling wine to make a Foragers Fizz, or use it as the base to a fruity G&T.

Made 2 litres last year, it is awesome. Such a mellow, smooth taste and no hint of Gin at all. I am all prepared for this year and already have 2 litres of Gin which was in the supermarket at a bargain price a month or so back. So easy to make.
Brilliantly simple explanation thank you 👍
Fab!
Appreciate this video 2 weeks before I need the sloe gin telling me to prepare it 2 and a half months ago...
MrPointless 😂👌🏻
I had good results with the freezer option.
👍
Does the jar need to be sealed to stop the berries from going off?
No the gin acts as an antiseptic. Nothing will 'go off' while soaked in gin.
@@PGerardf Wouldn't the entire brew 'go off' if exposed to oxygen by slowly turning the dissolved sugars into vinegar?
(due to the presence of natural lactobacillus cultures on the skins of _most_ outdoor fruits/vegetables -- and their higher tolerance for alcoholic and acidic environments compared to something like a common strain of wild fermentation yeast; also present on _most_ fruit skins)
@@NeonCicada 80 proof gin 40% alcohol has been distilled spirit then diluted back to 40% wines and beers are 4 - 15% maybe 40% is strong enough to preserve just guessing though
Looks good its just waiting for it ready to drink that puts me off
Wel is you made it when you posted this comment you have a lovely bottle of gin now.
Blackthorne?
So its just gin infussed with wild berries and sugar?
can i use raw cane instead of white sugar
You could use any form of sugar you like.
(even stuff like maple syrup, honey, fruit juice concentrates etc.)
Sugar is sugar, flavour will be slightly affected.
Why not upload september - october? This is completely useless until next year when i inevitably will completely forget about it...
