I'm 10 months away from applying to CRNA school! GOD please help me get in! 6 years of nursing. I'm ready and this is my DREAM! Wish I was already graduated and working!
congratulations! I'm in high school and I'm month away to graduate. I'm stuck what to do after high school. I'm between pharmacist or crna. I'm researching alot and i still can't decide. can you give some advice.
+luke morrison The good thing is you're only in high school but if you're interested in a profession like CRNA, it is getting more and more competitive so getting an early start could benefit you in the future. But it's one of those professions you need to make sure that you really want to do. If so, I would do a lot of research into what schools look for in an applicant and start doing those early. This includes nursing school which is obviously a requirement to becoming a CRNA. it's a two step process as far as education is concerned.
Edward Herrera congrats! Also how long does it takes to finish everything. I research it but I'm little bit confused. Is it like a year then nursing school with resident experience and finally license. Right? Is it a type of career that is risky? Also those comes between the life outside and the life inside the profession?
+luke morrison you need to get your bachelors of science in nursing which takes four years to complete. Then you have to sit for the boards to get your license as a nurse. Nurse anesthesia schools require a minimum of one year in critical care but average is three years. Most schools also have requirements such as the GRE, shadowing a current nurse anesthetist, certificate as a critical care RN and more. Research the particular school for their requirements. Once you get accepted into a CRNA program it will take 2 to 3 years depending on the school. These 2 to 3 years are dedicated towards anesthesia. Then you sit for the boards to become a certified nurse anesthetist.
this field interests me and i'm barely in nursing school lol, but listening to them struggle even after passing nursing school gives me more ambition to pass RN as i might be in their shoes again soon.
thanks for the feedback and to be honest with you, this field really interests me. it's either this or working as an advanced practice nurse working in cardiology
Such a great and inspiring video! I just recently found out about what it is to be a CRNA. I was a little confused at first, but this video has completely clarified my perception of that profession. Thanks for uploading this video. Not only is it inspirational, it is motivational as well for those who may have an interest or a simple curiosity.
+Charles Huenergardt I am an SRNA in my 2nd year and considering topics for my capstone project. I have found that I am very passionate about community education regarding the true role of CRNAs, and would like to do this with my project. This video is the best that I have seen. I was wondering how y'all made such a high quality video and if you had any pointers for me.
This is great, I'm currently an nurse in the OR seeking more information about nurse anesthesia school. I'm highly interested in the program and ready to take that next step towards it. I know it's going to be a long journey for me but videos like this keep me motivated and focused. Thanks so much!
thanks for the video, I think all the rigor and challenges that the students talk about have definitely opened my eyes that I'm already too old at 32 for this, I would have done it had I been in my early 20's when I was full of energy and needed the adrenaline everyday.
I don't mean that 32 as an age is too old, I just mean its tough for people at 32 to put their life on hold for 3 years to endure really challenging education. I know a few people that have done it, but it's not feasible for most people, at least not for me.
Nope , I will be about 30 when I get my BSN . Then I have about 1-2 years as a RN working in the ICU . So I will be applying for CRNa school when I'm about 32-33 . There is no such thing as old when u are truly passionate about something .
Andre M C No you're not too old.I met a nprn and she said she was teaching a class where the best student was 49.Stop hiding behind your age and go on and meet the challenge!

I'm a CNA at a hospital. I can't decide between being a CRNA or being a D.O. of internal medicine. I can't decide. I'm in my 2nd year of college. I'm 20 years old. both can be rewarding careers. I'm just not sure what to choose maybe someone could have some ideas
Let's say you get in to nursing school after 2 years of college. The traditional program will be 2 more years so you will have your BSN, RN in a total of 4 years. Most CRNA programs require at least 2 years of ICU experience. Once you are accepted to CRNA school you will do an additional 2 or 2.5 years. If you do the D.O. route and are accepted the first time then you will have 3-4 years of undergrad total (depends on how quickly you complete required classes) plus 4 years of medical school and 3+ years of residency depending on your specialty. Consider time, cost of school, what can you afford, etc. I suggest you job shadow a ton. If I could go back, I wouldn't choose the nursing route. Go all the way! D.O.! In my opinion, they have been the best docs to work with.
Vu Nguyen I have my BS and BSN and have worked in ICU for years with the intention of CRNA but I have changed my mind. I know many CRNAs, MDs, DOs, etc and I've done my own asking around because I contemplated(am still contemplating) switching up careers. CRNAs tend to love their career but you have the opportunity to really weigh the options. There's a big difference between anesthesia and internal medicine. CRNAs make almost as much as the internal med DO. Maybe more if you do a rural area. Job shadow to make sure it interests you. Good luck! I wish I was 20 again!
Im intrested in joining this field im currently a nurse and i love my job being able to care for a person what holds me back is fear that i dont know i this gave me hope
Don't Worry I know it has been five months since you posted and I hope you have overcome your fears about becoming a CRNA, it does carry a higher responsibility, but the education and clinical practice for CRNA school is completely on a different level compared to our undergrad studies. It will humble you, test you, prepare you. So don't be scared, like everything else, you fear what you are not prepared for, solution??prepare!!

+Charles Huenergardt Thanks for the reply! I am going to try to seek some assistance in the videography department. Congrats on making such an awesome video!
Can anyone explain how you become a CRNA in the US? I´m studying to become a CRNA in Norway, here you have to complete a bachelor´s degree in nursing (which is the only way to become a nurse), then you´ll have to work a minimum of 2 years in a hospital (you get extra points if you have ICU/ER experience, but it´s not mandatory) and then 1,5 years of "anesthesia nursing". It seems like you really have to work your ass off for years in the US, am I right?
@@cessna340 yeah it’s been a year since graduation. Pay is no different, but glad that nightmare is over lol. Making a butt ton of money along with my full time gig
+Khaled Amer most programs require one year of ICU experience (although most accepted students have greater than one year). After admission programs are two to three YEARS. And now that most programs are leaning towards a doctorate, more and more are becoming 36 month programs.
Ash Whitmore you’re calling me a dumbass? You don’t even know me? I’m a current SRNA myself and if I said what she said in my school interview, I would have never been accepted. At community college for basic classes, headed to CRNA school. It is my calling 😍
me too!
That’s awesome. Keep up the good work. It’s a great career.
Can't decide as to whether go NP route or CRNA after getting my BSN. Any suggestions?
Mulatto Mann CRNA much better. NP is ok but way more paper work and chart writing.
work for a couple of years at the bedside and then decide.
Video looks good, wonder why the school is ranked so low. It's in the 90s
Im in the rn program now and i want to become a crna, it is very intimindating though.
It can be intimidating, especially CRNA school, but well worth the effort when you're done. You won't turn back.
Thank you Charles Huenergardt for the reply I will continue and go for it, putting my fears behind me. Thank you
Good luck. Put in the work and you'll get there. Focus.
I would like to be a CRNA someday.
@Kazuya SRNA is “Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist.”

Why fear? It is reality. Need to know before going forward.

Not actually sure how to transition, but if you in touch with the AANA (www.AANA.com) there are people there who can help direct you. Best of luck.
This is what I wanna do in the future!!
is it possible to specialize in Pediatrics as a CRNA? be a pediatric CRNA?
It would depend on where you end up working.
Yes, but you’ll do adults too most likely. A children’s hospital would be an excellent place to solely do pediatrics.

i cant decide if after i finish my BSN i would go to become an NP or CRNA. practice and salary wise (including workload), which is better?
CRNA better pay and better hours. Less paperwork and usually better benefits, meaning more time off, etc.
how about the best state or type of institution as a workplace such as specialized hospitals?

Look up flight nurse MD. He talks about the process
It's actually 2.5 to 3 years here in the USA on average.

Hi Musto! Please see my video with a CRNA at our hospital to find out how to become a CRNA! Peace!
Good work guys!
why do anesthesiologist get paid more?
and is it SRNA or CRNA?
Because anesthesiologists are actually doctors! SRNA means they're students. CRNA means they are certified.
Anesthesia Tech's... keeping CRNA's looking good long before they even get to the hospital!
We love our anesthesia techs. They keep everything moving smoothly.
Very informative

Usually with 2 years ICU experience is needed to apply.
Wake up around 4:30. No. NVM. Next!
4:30 just for those days needing extra time to get ready for bigger cases. Not the norm.
