I really appreciated that she said we are college level educated professionals with science backgrounds. Nursing is so much more than just being "angels". We make critical decisions regarding our patient's care every second of every shift.
My aunt needs to see this video, she is one of those people who think nurses only clean the patients and give them food.... ignorance.... Im proud to be an ICU nurse!! 🤗🤗🤗
My grandmother passed away in september and spent her last days in the ICU. What I witnessed there honestly left such a big impression. In what was the hardest day of my life, I met some of the most caring, thoughtful and skilled people - the nurses there. Not only were they taking care of my grandmother, they were also taking care of us, the family which is technically not their job, but they still did it and I am beyond grateful for that. I knew she was going to die, but having met, spent time with and having talked to the nurses, I felt ok leaving in the evening as I knew she would be taken care of - not only medically, but also personally. My favourite nurse there promised us as we were leaving, that if my grandmother were to pass that night, she promised us that she would not be alone because she would be sitting by her bed with her supporting her through her last moments. Hearing that broke my heart, but also made me so happy at the same time, knowing that she wouldn't die alone in a hospital room, but that there would be such a sweet and caring person there to help her. Nurses are so well trained in so many aspects of the medical world and obviously are primarily nurses, but they also are part-time-angels. And I mean that in the best sense of the word.
Hi - yes we did have to get a signed consent from our patients. With every video, photograph and story we need patient consent in order to ensure that a patient's privacy is protected. Thanks for watching!
i got offered a Cardiac ICU position right out of RN school. All I have to do is pass my NCLEX and that job is mine. I'm so excited and humbled that I will get to do a job similar to this. Thank you for the opportunity to see this video!
Ive just been hired as a new grad nurse in SICU…I’m excited and scared. But I’m more so looking forward to what I’m going to learn and hopefully have the drive to continue when it gets hard. Wish me luck and pray for me to help my patients recover.
She made ICU look quite easy, but it is hard as hell. I did my capstone in the MICU, and there are so much things to learn! ICU nurses or nurses in general are badass!
I coded in pacu last month after a minor hydro extension surgery. I was in a coma for 7 days and on a vent for another 4. God bless u all who work in icu. Moore reginal waldrip is awsome.
Thank God you are still alive!! :) Just a word of encouragement: Remember that Jesus loves you and He's coming soon. If you have not made a decision to follow Him, don't wait because tomorrow is promised to no one. Satan wants us to believe we have all the time in the world, when we actually don't. Even he knows his time is short (Revelation 12:12) Lastly, the National Sunday Law is about to be enforced upon us. It involves the Mark of the Beast. The Beast is a religious & political system, which includes the Pope and his followers. Their sign of authority or seal is Sunday worship because they claim to have authority over the Bible and they admit that Sunday worship is their doing. (Revelation 13:6). They will enforce worship on all. (See Revelation 13). IT is their plan to force all to worship on the 1st day of the week (Sunday) and have that as the ONLY DAY of worship. They want everyone to forsake God's law which includes keeping the Sabbath, and accept man's tradition. When it is enforced, and people accept Sunday worship INSTEAD of accepting the Seventh Day Sabbath (Saturday) as the Lord's Day and only true day of worship, they will get the mark of the Beast. The system promotes false worship. So, it's our duty to keep God's it commandments, including the 4th which talks about the Sabbath because in the end, we have to chose 1 side. So, lastly, I'm inviting you to the Seventh Day Adventist church that is NEAREST to you and make it your #1 priority be ready by God's grace to face the time that is just before us.
Nurses are such bad *sses!! They work so hard, are so smart, and deserve so much more respect. I spent a lot of time in the hospital and am so thankful for all the wonderful nurses who helped me. Also nurses were usually way cooler than the doctors so props to them LOL
+Chris Manzino she said the nurses were cooler. That is not bashing. Perhaps the nurses were more friendly etc. Doctors tend to be more serious and that's ok. You should think before you speak. You have a big nasty mouth on you.
you guys are so brash to beth ck...ive been a nurse 20 years, i think she was kidding. doctors are not Gods. As an ER nurse, i have saved dr's asses so many times, we stay with the patient, a lot of times, we( nurses) make the critical decisions many times. Many times, they don't even know how fast to give medications, i have to tell them. I have many physician friends, and behind the scenes, they are just like you and me. They cry like you and me. They have money problems like you and me (yes, they do!). and yes, i do think nurses are cooler than some docs :)
Rook, you remind me of the SICU nurse I had following emergent quintuple bypass. Thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of critically-ill patients. Please tell your colleagues and family members to always be watching out for ICU delirium in the ICU. ICU delirium is not a transient condition which just goes away and causes the patient no harm. It is life-threatening and can cognitively impair the patient for life.
omg, where is the doctor yelling at her,the nurse manager and director making her work short staffed and refusing vacation day or scheduling without asking her, the crazy supervisor that never walks in her shoes, does she get a bathroom break,a full dinner break and oh where are the patients relatives demanding ,screaming at her??
I love it when I have orientees. 😊😊 You've got extra hands to complete everything that needs to be done. After the shift, the patient is pristine!! All lines new, labeled and organized. Patient bathed smelling good. Documentation complete. It's satisfying. I tell my patients, "You're in the hospital but you don't have to look like a patient."
I graduate in one month and 10 days! I'm super stoked and super nervous. I have a job lined up for Cardiac Progressive Care and I plan on *hopefully* going for Cardiac ICU in a year. Keep up the great work!
Sometimes I wonder if people recognize and realize how much of a patient's care is reliant on nurses. "You don't make decisions. You call the doctor to do that", actually that's not always the case. Nurses make so many critical decisions for patients that does not always have to involve the doctor. Nurses and doctors have their own roles and work together to provide care for patients. Nurses are the ones conveying the information so that the doctors can makes their judgements. Depending on what the nurse communicates, can impact the direction of care for the patients. Most times nurses are the ones who tell the doctors what the concerns are. In ICU is a vastly different field of nursing compared to med surg or general med. Nurses are given a lot more autonomy in the care for the patient that in other areas. Thank you for sharing this video of the ICU!
•carrying out routine investigations; •responding quickly to emergencies; •planning discharges from hospital and liaising with community nurses, GPs and social workers; •communicating with and relieving the anxiety of patients and their relatives; •advocating on behalf of patients; •educating patients about their health; •organising staff and prioritising busy workloads; •mentoring student and junior nurses; •maintaining patient records;
thanks to this video..rook is a counselor to me..im a nurse also and will be working to ICU soon..as of now, im feeling afraid because it's not easy to think taking care for those critical patients in the near future..:)but im happy coz im with in this profession.im happy to save lives and take care of people who cnt take good care of themselves.
ECG is used to observe, and measure the electric impulses that is conducted when the heart contracts, and relaxes. In an ECG, you can see, what we call, depolarization, contraction, and repolarization of different parts of the heart. Depending on what the waves look like, it can tell you if the heart is normal, or abnormal (heart attack) Cardiac output monitor measures the amount of blood that is pumped out from the heart to the systemic circuit each minute.
I really like this video, I'm proud of Brooke nurses, it's not easy to keep patients in the ICU, especially those of us who have to maintain the cleanliness of patients. I really like your work 💕
ICU Nurses are the best. Thorough and pretty much know more than doctors. At least that's my opinion. I've heard an ICU nurse ask a doctor, "why do you keep bothering him...can't you see he is irritated by this procedure." Yes! I loved it!
its not just that •writing patient care plans; •implementing plans through tasks such as preparing patients for operations, wound treatment and monitoring pulse, blood pressure and temperature; •observing and recording the condition of patients; •checking and administering drugs and injections; •setting up drips and blood transfusions; •assisting with tests and evaluations;
So my dad was a patient in icu and my mom who was there with him said that there was this incredible guy who really did a good job with my dad and now I am considering the profession
Marceline374 this is a beautiful women that is highly intelligent and works very hard at her job so your comment is unnecessary and more disrespectful to nurses than her assumption is disrespectful to a fictional character on a TV show

Sally Wokil I’m so glad you say that! So many caregivers of different levels give care to patients. Not just nurses. These people never get thanked or any glory like nurses do!!
It takes a special kind of person to be a nurse, just like it takes a special kind of person to be an electrician. Two different decisions, two different people, two different worlds. No one is better than the other; therefore, no pointless arguments need to be made over literal facts.
I am considering going for LPN. I figure if I really like it I will go further, RN. there is a community college near me that offers a certificate program for LPN.
I wish they showed some of the equipment in this video, like connecting arterial lines and setting up chest tubes etc but it was all talk , talk and more talking
I really suggest you go for your RN. Nowadays with the economy, hospitals are actually getting rid of their LPN's/LVN's or making them get their RN's. I have a question. Do you have to go for additional schooling or training to get certified to work in the ICU or ER or to work in surgery or the operating room or labor and delivery.
@XxDARKMASKxX How is the CCU? I am actually looking into becoming an Intensivist or Trauma Surgeon so interested in the environment. Please keep us informed and let us know how the training goes and good luck! :)
Hey, my name is Ariel. I'm thinking about becoming a "Cardiothoraic Intensive Care" Nurse (Registered Nurse). I'm only 22. I'm going to be a scrub tech for a year. I was thinking about becoming a "Nurse Midwife" but I'm not trying to go to school that long.
i think after years of working n caring patients doctors n nurses get used with their duties of healthcare which to us looks they are working v hard no doubt but they all are passed through so much practice then they reach to a level of RN, DO, MDs. Applause of claps for all of them.........
It has been my experience that very often, people who tell others to cut out the dramatics are themselves causing the greatest dramatics. All professions have their share of people who are not a credit to that profession. But there are people who go above and beyond their duties in their profession from nurse to electrician to whatever else. It is politically incorrect to say so but most people are stereotypes in good or bad ways. There is a reason why certain types gravitate to certain jobs.
Unicorn Horse Community college classes that require Organic Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology along with pre reqs and clinicals. I hope you are never admitted to a hospital.. tell your nurses that keep you safe and comfortable that they graduated from a shitty community college.
Crazy Girl Gaming I'm so sorry for your loss! I have lost many close family members myself, and I know how hard it is! ((hugs)) I will keep you in my prayers.
I really appreciated that she said we are college level educated professionals with science backgrounds. Nursing is so much more than just being "angels". We make critical decisions regarding our patient's care every second of every shift.
You don't really make decisions. You call the doctor to do that.
lets see mike rotch here failed nclex for sure. hahaha
Mike Rotch if I waited to "call the doctor" for everything then I'd have a lot of dead patients. I hope someday you require ICU level care...
MatthewRX Many nurses are great. Many are not. When you cut others down makes us feel you are not one of the good ones. Don't act as if you are GOD.
You're stupid.
My aunt needs to see this video, she is one of those people who think nurses only clean the patients and give them food.... ignorance....

Do you enjoy being an RN?

Hello my beautiful friend good morning how are you doing..?
"I didn't break my heart you broke my heart" 😂😂 I love these kind of videos makes me so happy about starting nursing school!
amohamoud hey I just started nursing school this year! :)
I just watched that part while reading this.

Wow, that AAA patient is super lucky to make it to the OR, and hopefully he made it out of the hospital alive and well!
Great video! I'm a charge nurse in a CVSU. This really showed how crazy an average day can be!!
I'll keep him in my prayers❤️

Yes, how are things for you these days??

ICU Nurse are awesome and they Rock !!!!
Miranda Bailey, is that you? XD
XD ikr!
sumaya hussein Well during the shooting she said she was a nurse
HeyItsKristen The disrespect Miranda is a freakin surgeon NOT a nurse
Marceline374 this is a beautiful women that is highly intelligent and works very hard at her job so your comment is unnecessary and more disrespectful to nurses than her assumption is disrespectful to a fictional character on a TV show
They’re saying it’s disrespectful as if being a nurse isn’t prestigious as well
Thank you - future nursing student here - very inspiring
Nurse Rook is AWESOME and I totally look up to her! Please thank her for making this video. Thank YOU MaimonidesMC for making this video. I cannot wait until I graduate from nursing school.
I'm currently studying to become a registered nurse and i feel that my calling is to become an ICU nurse. Would Love to have a mentor like her, she seems very wise and professional :)
Marian5981 are you a nurse now?

ICU nurses are really the best because I could never 😭 Thank you healthcare workers
Love this video. If you didn't want to be a nurse, the nurse in this video, makes you want to be one.
-Nurse Davis
this woman is super!!! she's so likeable
I’m going to be an ICU RN soon! 4 years of community health experience and then I got offered this job within a new grad program! I am scared 💩 less, but super excited!
Sophia Loney for public health nursing jobs, you need your PHN! For public health clinic jobs, you just need your RN. For the ICU nurse job, i think they want a BSN!
Going to college for 4 years or just about i wanna become an CRNA, and ICU is a plus or a step forward to that
nice smooth flow, unfortunately in my 16 years I've seen resources cut so much that it is helter skelter every day
Sad but true. It has become all about the money .Short staffing is routene and we get told how the Hospital cannot afforg Agency Nurses when they allocate several million to upgrade the Physician Only parking area??? Pfftttt....
I actually never thought about becoming a nurse but after watching this video seeing them help people and teaching other I kinda wanna be a nurse
i hade a cardiacarest and the nurse's were so good i have a book of what they wrote in everyday
nice
well spoken. This is why I am a male and going into nursing. Love it
I was in ICU for a few days after i coded while waiting for surgery to get a new VP shunt. breathing tube down my throat, another tube down my nose clearing out nasty junk and about 4 IV's = NOT fun. glad it's over
She is gorgeous. What a beautiful face and such a confident expert. I'd feel lucky to have Rook as a nurse. :)
awesome vid! As a new ICU nurse coming from Med-Surge what can u advise as far as confidence and learning the drips and cardiac rhythms?
doctors, nurses surgeons in fact anyone who works in the medical profession are angels, I have so much respect for the jobs they do, often difficult at times, god bless each and everyone of you :)
Sally Wokil I’m so glad you say that! So many caregivers of different levels give care to patients. Not just nurses. These people never get thanked or any glory like nurses do!!
just got hired as a new grad icu nurse.. Super nervous and excited!! :) Going to be vlogging my journey~

Im a paramedic
Well you're most likely underpaid and unappreciated my friend
I graduated as EMS but I’m now working in ICU, I like being here I don’t wont to be a paramedic😂
I'm a paramedic too!
I am considering going for LPN. I figure if I really like it I will go further, RN.
there is a community college near me that offers a certificate program for LPN.
I am an ICU nurse - my favorite saying/joke:
"What's the difference between an ICU Nurse and a terrorist? You can negotiate with a terrorist!"
Icu is a field am really interested in venturing into, but getting course release in the military is a bone of contention
I wish they showed some of the equipment in this video, like connecting arterial lines and setting up chest tubes etc but it was all talk , talk and more talking
Thank sooooo much Nurses may God bless you guy's.
I wonder how u can keep smiling !!
If it was me I will spend my whole life depressed and sad about patient people.
I'm in training to be an ICU NURSE I can't wait until I graduate
Love it! What a great recruitment tool. Hope my preceptor to nursing is just like Rook. What a great attitude! Thanks!
Hello my beautiful friend good morning how are you doing..?
wow. you nurses let the receiving Rn to eat her lunch. that never happened with me in 25 years.
When I worked in TBICU at UAB hospital we took an entire hour lunch.
NY has NYSNA. Union requirement to get an hour lunch, uninterrupted. I went into shock on my first travel assignment there.
Cyra Dragoness Sounds true. I worked at a NYC hospital and the nurses actually took breaks.
Would u help me I need ur help I'm studying at faculty of Nursing in Egypt and I want to go to USA
LOL, I am a nurse and was totally thinking the same thing!
Respect for ALL NURSES.....
This is a great video! The video gave more insight on the type of nursing I want to do. This is an awesome woman with a great career!
Saying it's difficult isn't saying you don't like it. In fact, most of us like being nurses because it is challenging.
You speak of the profession very well.
Hello my beautiful friend good morning how are you doing..?
I really suggest you go for your RN. Nowadays with the economy, hospitals are actually getting rid of their LPN's/LVN's or making them get their RN's. If you are going to spend all that time getting your LPN, you might as well do a little more and go for your RN, trust me, youll know if its for you or not on your first semester of nursing school. Good luck!
This one amazing calling.... thanks for sharing this.
Yes, it's through HR, usually transitional or new grad, you have to apply.
I have a question. Do you have to go for additional schooling or training to get certified to work in the ICU or ER or to work in surgery or the operating room or labor and delivery.
how to calm the families of patients who died in the trigger room, and the first aid steps that nurses did ??
I can do this. Which career college should I go to train?
@XxDARKMASKxX How is the CCU? I am actually looking into becoming an Intensivist or Trauma Surgeon so interested in the environment. Please keep us informed and let us know how the training goes and good luck! :)
Do these patients go to PACU or straight to ICU?
Thank you!

Hello my beautiful friend good morning how are you doing...?
U doing a great job people
Do nurses pass a lot of meds in the ICU
The music is really annoying
Should've used Renard-Intensive Care Unit for the music :P
what is the difference between respiratory therapist and icu nurse in terms of their functions in the hospital?
I’m a nursing student I’m so excited to start working
i think after years of working n caring patients doctors n nurses get used with their duties of healthcare which to us looks they are working v hard no doubt but they all are passed through so much practice then they reach to a level of RN, DO, MDs. Applause of claps for all of them.........
If I become a RN, I want to be an ICU or cardiology. But I am scared. 🐚💐
Hello my beautiful friend good morning how are you doing..?
I love the music
what is carrying out routine investigations
my dream job is to be a nurse and help people but i don’t like hospitals, they make me sad and i have a weak stomach :(
It has been my experience that very often, people who tell others to cut out the dramatics are themselves causing the greatest dramatics. All professions have their share of people who are not a credit to that profession. But there are people who go above and beyond their duties in their profession from nurse to electrician to whatever else. It is politically incorrect to say so but most people are stereotypes in good or bad ways. There is a reason why certain types gravitate to certain jobs.

I wish I was freaking smart enough to be a nurse.... this is like my dream job
IWill BeMe you don’t need to be smart to be a nurse. All it requires is 2-3 year of shitty community college
Unicorn Horse and look at you replying to a comment 4 years ago. Bitter and desperate?
Unicorn Horse nursing requires 2 years of general education then 3 1/2 to 4 years of nursing school for your BSN smart one
Who says that you aren't?
Unicorn Horse Community college classes that require Organic Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology along with pre reqs and clinicals. I hope you are never admitted to a hospital.. tell your nurses that keep you safe and comfortable that they graduated from a shitty community college.
I am in Nursing school now and will be there soon :)
Watch out for the next in the series which is more interesting ,' A Day in the life of a Statue ' coming soon .
My uncle is in the ICU in an induced coma :(
I know your comment is old, but my prayers go out to him and your family!
Brittany He passed away last december :'(
Crazy Girl Gaming I'm so sorry for your loss! I have lost many close family members myself, and I know how hard it is! ((hugs)) I will keep you in my prayers.
