Well, well, well -- thank you! I've been thinking I've got to get the whole damn axle out because I after getting that's second circlip out I tried pulling but it wouldn't budge. Now, maybe Honda's a slightly different model of maybe it's just frozen rust that's holding it. At least you've given me a chance to be bold. Cheers.
@@Double_Jinx Thanks, Steve. Managed to remove that one with large 90° pick levered against...forgotten, part of the machine and screwdriver. And there weren't any bolts on my one! The lever was rusted frozen to another pice. Now cleaned up and painted. And bought cheap pliers to hopefully nut the clips back easily, and work on the other side with ease. (For info, The axle is not just rusting steel like many complained of but stainless.) Will either grease the mating steel plates or try to remember to spray with something. Thanks again.
@@gunsofsteele Thanks! It's all done now but next time I'll know, and with some proper circlip pliers on the way, it'll be a breeze. Next, to order graphite spray!
Thanks for this. Definitely not as easy on an older mower. My circlip pliers only just fit and would slip out rather than open the clip. And good luck if it's like mine and the inside circlip is stuck with the plier holes on the inside of the shaft! End of the day, it does seem better, I probably could have straightened it more than I did. See how it goes for a few mows...
The rear wheel height adjustment is not designed well at all. My approach is to lube it up and tip mower on one side then adjust wheel height. Then do the same on other side. The weight on the rear tires make it really hard to adjust. Much easier to tip it on it’s side. But be careful of fuel leakage.
Up until 4 days ago i struggled with great effort to adjust the rear wheels. The adjuster would only move one way then both rear wheels froze. I tried to adjust them before going to repair shop and could not. I arrive and the service man moved the left and the right with ease. I was dumbfounded. He advised me to raise the mower a bit before moving the adjusters on the rear wheels. The right was always the hardest to adjust. I tried to the point where i would snap the adjuster if i continued, plus it was strenuous and i would become breathless. That day they moved in the wrong direction and froze. Lubricating them would help too.
So what is the actual fix? Bending thr arm? Which way? I dont really undeetand at all. Neither of my rear height arjusters move. I can pull them out, away trom thr slots it would fal into, but they wont go forward or back to raise or lower. This seems to sorta show what thr pueces taken apart look like but i dont fukly undertaand thr fix bevaus I dont undertand whats wrong.
Spray some wd 40 behind the adjuster arm while it is pulled out of the notch. Wait a while (hour) and do it again. Should free things up in a few cycles of that. Some times wd40 takes over night to soften Severe rust.
same mower, same issue with right side adjuster, very hard to go up,will try your way.thanks
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing this fix.

you need to remove the big one from the inside of the deck, mentioned in the first few seconds, it secures the arm piece to the deck

collins make sure to lubricate with graphite spray. Dirt will definitely stick in any type of wet lube.
It looks like you may have straightened the adjuster arm at the bend nearest the axle hole, yes or no?

Thanks, if you get it just right you can take the weight with the handle and adjust the lever with just your thumb.

you should be able to take some weight with one hand on the bars and flip the height adjuster with 1 thumb if you have it set correctly
