Good explanation! The VW wiring diagrams were a lot easier to read when my eyes were younger👴🏻

Haven't done much VW wiring, but the diagrams are very simple to follow.
Used to do a lot of vehicle wiring work back in the day. Not so much anymore. Makes my brain hurt now days.

Excellent tutorial ,simple to follow along , nice tips . If I may chime in I've always told all my customers ,don't look at all the wires at once work on one wire at a time then a that complete circuit.only then go to the next one don't jump around like a chicken in the barnyard pecking for food .But most of all understand what the wire is supposed to do in that circuit, and look at the simple stuff first fuses, grounds and connections at the switch. On A side note maybe next talk about the add on starter relay that can e used to reconcile low voltage at starter solenoid .Cheers

You hit all the little PITA problems on the head. Little things that are super easy to just quickly glance over and not notice when you are frustrated trying to solve problems. I put a new WW fuse block and complete WW wiring harness in my 63 last year. Every single wire in the car is brand new. It was a lot easier than I expected. Went together one bite at a time. The color-coded diagram made things almost idiot proof. Every wire was already cut to length and terminal finished and really only fit correctly in one spot (the correct one). Only problem I had to troubleshoot was what you mentioned in this video with the bad taillight ground on new taillight housing onto the car. I also need to re visit my turn signal relay some-day. It has a constant click when the car is on.

Always hated wiring. I ordered a laminated and color coded diagram. Made a huge difference.

After you use the CRC degreaser were you saying to use dielectric grease to coat everything again?

The early diagrams are way easier to read I don’t like the mid to late 70’s diagrams I just look at an early one and they are pretty close to the same. I just know they don’t make a complete harness for a 73-79 super that’s why I don’t try to restore those cars.

I wish this would just click for me.. I have a 71 tin top that the ONLY thing keeping it a hangar queen is the wiring. I pulled everything and repaired the wiring where needed.. when I went to hook it all back up.. I became just too ignorant to get it back together. I can't even find anyone around to PAY to get it done. I'd be happy to just get the ignition circuit working

best to just chase it all down 1 wire at a time. there are not many people who are willing to do it even for a price. Because it would be an endless chore for them unless they spent a week or so which would cost thousands of dollars to do. A shop would need to have a warranty which they would not be able to provide for something this old.

Installing a new harness is not that bad with the diagram that comes with them fixing an og harness specially with non original wire colors and spliced a tone of times that’s a pain. I’ve done a few full complete harnesses just takes time. I find it easier to take the complete dash out in a bus and then put the dash back in and then put the cluster in last.

If you can't fix it with a screwdriver and pair of pliers then your out of luck that's how simple WV is !
