I like all your video's, easy, specific and very helpful. I have the same make and model truck. Now my question is,for future reference will you possibly make a video of break flush and power steering flush? Thanks
Should I put a little Teflon tape on the fill and drain plugs before installing to prevent leaks? Or is it fine just to install and torque down
Looks simple enough. Thanks Jon.
So fill it to the very top until it spills out of the fill plug?
David Sega Just add 2 qts
The sampling is cool...
As always great video great video angles
Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your repair.
You can publish a transfer case repair video for this same model of ford
Great info. Thank you.
Good video. Question, does the 01 f150 have a gasket or crush washer on the drain plug? I got my vehicle used so I want to be sure. Thanks!
It has neither a gasket or crush washer. If you are concerned with it oozing, you can always use a silicone gasket maker material on the threads.
Your videos are great. I recently purchased the exact same truck with 166k and I plan on doing my transfer case fluid this weekend, just like you did. Will it matter if I use the AMSoil Fluid you used but I'm not exactly sure what transmission fluid is in the transmission? The don't mix do they? Thanks for your advice. Again, all of your videos have been very helpful.
Shane Williams Mercon LV Motorcraft. Use Ford factory
Awesome video Thanks...
Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your repair.
Always pull the fill plug first if you can't get it free you don't wanna drain what fluid you have
Agreed.
dude whats up wit u and amsoil
what drive were those sockets? thanks
Which end were we looking at when you were under the truck ?
I was looking from the rear, towards the front.
Where does it say "Synthetic fluid" to add into the transfer case
The owners manual does not require "Synthetic Fluid", however if you want a better quality product that will give you better performance, I highly recommend AMSOIL Synthetic Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/automatic/signature-series-multi-vehicle-synthetic-automatic-transmission-fluid/?code=ATFQT-EA?zo=10458
This is a 4x4, correct?
+Jon Olson (ZO1983724) I was wondering since rwd does not have a transfer case.
Is there a 4x4 transfer case video for 01 f150?
this is a 4x4 f150 or else it wouldn't have a transfer case it would have been direct
My transfer case is stuck in second, would replacing the fluid fix that or do I need a whole new transfer case?
Mesothelioma Have you tried putting it in 2WD, shifting in reverse and then backing up for a half a block or so?
Insane Oil I have not, is there a possibility that could work?
Mesothelioma I would start with the reverse method (unless you hear bad noises of course) before tearing into anything.
Insane Oil it’s stuck in 2wd that’s that issue
Mesothelioma My bad...didn’t read your initial post close enough. Could be corrosion due to moisture, could be low on fluid.
i take it this would be the same on a 01 5.4 expedition?
+Jon Olson (ZO1983724) yes it was did it about a hour ago thanks for the video very helpful.
is this the same as a 97 f150?
biker932012 mmm
Mercon LV Motorcraft.
Mercron is an alright product. If you want to superseded the manufacture's specifications and ensure your Transfer Case has better protection then I highly recommend Amsoil. www.amsoil.com/p/signature-series-multi-vehicle-synthetic-automatic-transmission-fluid-atf/?zo=10458&zo=10458&zo=10458&zo=10458
