Wonderful beginner's lesson for a taste of rhythm and practice bouncing among notes. Excellent clear instruction, easy and fun to follow along. Just starting playing two months ago, and your videos have helped me enormously to get a proper start on the essential basics, without being overwhelmed. Thank you for your time, encouragement, and down to earth approach. All the best Liam!
your lessons help a lot and this is the first blues thingy i'm gonna learn for my harmonica! thank you very much for what you do, Liam, it means everything
For a beginner like myself this appears daunting at a first glance. However, in literally 20 minutes of practice it is amazing how quickly one can break this down and follow.
I also want to leave a BIG THANK YOU !!! to you here. You are a wonderful teacher. I already learned a lot from your videos. As soon as I have reached an acceptable skill I will support you by buying some of your premium content you offer. Again, thank you very much!
Thanks for taking your time to answer me! I've been playing harmonica for 8 years. Its make me feel good. I use tongue blocking. However, Its difficult to play overblows. I tried to custom my harmonicas but i couldn't do it very well. Thanks again Liam. I will be waiting for your next video.
Hi Liam! Thank you so much, these lessons have helped a lot. I learned some of my favourite harmonica parts here. If you don't mind me asking, would you mind doing a lesson on Hello Operator by The White Stripes? The harmonica work is absolutely magnificent, but there are some bends and slurs that I can't quite pin down. Thanks a lot!
I really like your videos, I'm happy to finally realize a child's dream, to learn harmonica. Thank you very much, direct from Rio de Janeiro Brazil !!!!
Greetings from England! Thanks for watching and for commenting. Hope the weather is better in Rio than here! Congratulations on finally fulfilling your childhood dream :) Cheers, Liam
Hi Liam, great lesson as always! Im a really big fan, I love these videos and you single handily taught me to play an instrument, so thank you so so so much. I do have a question though about 1 draw. For some reason it doesn’t quite work for me, im using tongue blocking technique, and somehow the left end of the harmonica doesn’t seem to "fit" so to speak. Do you have any tips I could use? Thanx again man.
Hi Tim. I'd bend the -3 down a semitone (halfstep) to a -3/ because it would fit better, making the notes consistent over the (imagined) chord changes. Hope this helps! Cheers, Liam
What are these letters ABCDE in front of the tablature? Other thing I always get lost in this second aspirated hole !!! Congratulations on the channel and its classes, I feel progress quickly in the harmonica !!!
Hi, thanks for the question. The letters are just labels for each line, so that I can say, "Now, let's look at line C..." instead of "Now, let's look at the third line down the page..." It makes it much easier to follow the tab through the video. Cheers, Liam
Hi Uri, there are a few things involved in that type of playing, but the biggest thing you can do is learn to tongue block. Here's why: ruclips.net/video/uwzU0Pi-BDk/видео.html. Cheers, Liam
Hi Nikola, try breathing out through your nose as well as your mouth on, for example, the hole 6 blow in the first line. This is something I do a lot to balance the air better. Hope this helps! Cheers, Liam
Hi Liam, found this a great help for single note playing. But is it cheating too much to play 3 blow instead of 2 draw? Will practise both though 2 draw is way hard on my Swan brand in c. Have seen the vid on 2 draw v 3 blow but it isn't any the easier.
Hi Keith. There's nothing wrong with three blow, it's just that sometimes you may want to get a deep vibrato or a bend as part of the note, which is only possible on the two draw.
Hi dilemmix, I suggest you watch my short video on breathing technique: ruclips.net/video/dEI1bmmPGbQ/видео.html. Thanks for watching and good luck! Liam

The first blues bassline I ever learned!
Loving this :-) Is there a lesson somewhere on how to do this without gasping for breath?
Thanks! It's all in the breath control. Check this out: ruclips.net/video/dEI1bmmPGbQ/видео.html

That's a good question. Are you tongue switching to get the lowest notes? This might help: ruclips.net/video/2VXGsHTahGQ/видео.html
In the video you say that you would bend a certain note in the second line if you were playing it. Which one would you bend?
Hi Tim. I'd bend the -3 down a semitone (halfstep) to a -3/ because it would fit better, making the notes consistent over the (imagined) chord changes. Hope this helps! Cheers, Liam
Great vid! Thank you. Subbed :)
Awesome, thank you!

nice lesson, pretty basic the problem is i can do these basic lessons but i want play the way you've played in the end, how do you get there?
Hi Uri, there are a few things involved in that type of playing, but the biggest thing you can do is learn to tongue block. Here's why: ruclips.net/video/uwzU0Pi-BDk/видео.html. Cheers, Liam

Thanks!
Nice

Thank you for the lesson! At which note or between which notes do you get the excess air out? Because the most notes are to draw.
Hi Nikola, try breathing out through your nose as well as your mouth on, for example, the hole 6 blow in the first line. This is something I do a lot to balance the air better. Hope this helps! Cheers, Liam
excellent Liam!
Cheers Ian!

Things much better now as have a "Golden Melody" fantastic response; compared to the swan a 1000% upgrade.

What key r u playing in
Key of G on a C diatonic harmonica.
CAN YOU DO WORK FROM HOME? That would be awesome
I feel so inflated after playing the first line 4x, not sure when to get rid of the extra air, lol.
Hi dilemmix, I suggest you watch my short video on breathing technique: ruclips.net/video/dEI1bmmPGbQ/видео.html. Thanks for watching and good luck! Liam
