FYI, getting a commercial pilot license (from no prior experience, including practicing and such) will cost way more than just $20k (probably closer to 80k or such), though it will be spread across several years, and for commercial pilots. if you want to get a pilots licence for yourself, that will be around $20k

The closest I’ve ever gotten to a luxury flight was my flight back from Japan to the US during the beginning of the pandemic and everyone in economy got a whole row to themselves so I took advantage of that and slept across all 3 seats.
Yeah I've had a similar experience. I've also had a business class flight that we got transferred to but it wasn't nearly as luxurious as that one (it was a Lufthansa flight ten years ago pretty sure things changed)

I'm not gonna lie, $20k is a horrendous amount of money (especially in my currency) and just thinking about spending it on a flight makes me want to shrivel and pass out, but also screw it! You earned those money, you can do whatever you want with it, and I always thought that people should take all the opportunities they can to experience things. So don't be ashamed or embarassed, or scared, or guilty, or whatever, just enjoy living and trying new things :)

Bro i want to cry when i pay 5$ for a bus ride imagine spending 20k on a flight D: but their money their decisions.
I can only dream to have an experience like this. It looks like you both had a ton of fun together and I'm glad you guys both spent it doing what you wanted to do and enjoy. No worries on seeming like your flexing because if I had an opportunity to do something like this I would jump on it too. Especially since the flight to Ireland is so long you might as well kick back and treat yourself because flights get so uncomfortable after a while. When I went to Ireland it was a 15 hour flight for me and I was on a class trip in economy but luckily I took Dramamine so I didn't get air sick and it knocked me out cold for the entire flight there so it felt like time flew by I closed my eyes and opened them and I was there. Best way I ever experienced a flight in my life especially in economy.

This is one of my greatest problems with travel, especially wanting to go to Japan. I’m quite tall and have a mild fear of flights so the idea of being stuck in a seat in economy for such long periods feeling cramped just really puts me off. So if I were to one day go I would want to go business, sadly there is just very little chance I’d ever afford it
One tall person to another: Premium Economy Preferred Seating, It's about $150 extra, but well worth the expense. When I went to the Philippines for my wedding, I had to fly All Nippon Airways for my connection flights and let me tell you I don't think I've EVER had the ability to stretch out like that on an airplane, it was fantastic and I strongly recommend spending that extra bit for it.
We got only one life, a once in a lifetime treat shouldn't be bad, big or little. ☺️ So long as said experience doesn't make us worse people or is illegal. Don't feel bad Aki. Bless you.

I literally strive to be able to experience this, I’m so glad you were able to actually enjoy a 20+ hours flight! It must really uncomfortable in normal flights or even economy… The flight attendants sounded so nice and kind I really love how helpful they were (I thought they’d more neutral, but they sounded really kind)

Emirates is known for being boujie, but the fact that there is a step above this is hilarious. This is why I love watching the Points Guys reviews of these flights he's been in the ones with the showers and I'm always like "ohhh to be rich"
I think it's really interesting that the newer planes have this almost gamer 1st class setup. It kinda shows the rise of influencers and streamers going for 1st class and Emirates trying to appeal to them.

Emirates have flight out of the States too. The closest thing we go domestically is Jetblue 1st class

I love how relatable you are, Aki. I would have done the same with the caviar. I'm not bougie at all (not gonna lie I have champagne taste with a fanta pocketbook), but I would have gotten all the luxury, upscale, schwanky things and then closed the door to watch me marvel at it (and not embarrass myself) as I will never be able to do it again. Love your content and I am happy you are able to share this experience with us.

That looked really nice, shame it's so expensive. I've paid extra for my train rides to get a private bedroom with shower before, but it's like $300. comfort really helps the travel experience. Loved the night lights too!

It's honestly so worth it on these long hauls. I am larger and sitting in coach is just a nightmare for me. Domestically I'll sometimes just get an extra seat in coach but for these international flights sometimes the upper classes are cheaper than doing that. But I will say... it kind of ruins you forever and makes taking economy (even premium econ) feel real bad man
She spent more money on this flight then I make in two years of working. As a single Mom this is an interesting look into someone who has had so many opportunities handed to them and a financially supportive family. Good for her, for doing something fun for herself.
Er, her opportunities weren't "handed" to her, she worked hard herself and paid for this with her own money, not with family support. Success can be about luck, sure, but saying Aki's is because of "so many opportunities handed to them and a financially supportive family" while you couldn't afford it "as a single Mom" (interesting you capitalized it)... Being a single mother isn't some automatic block to these things, I know some very successful ones. Life doesn't start out on equal footing for everyone, sure, but you chose to be a mother so own that instead of using it like a defence. Aki chose to be a RUclipsr and has reaped from it and shares the experience with us. It's as simple as that.

I flew JAL business class to Narita in 2019. $5K but so worth it for me. I'm 6'2" and I had leg room. It was similar to the Emirates biz class but no fridge. We boarded the plane, got free champagne. Took off, then the 5 course meal comes out. Then I laid the seat flat and went to sleep for a few hours. I woke up, watched a movie and ordered some a la carte food. Then went back to sleep. Woke up, watched another movie, had another snack and we landed. What we didn't take advantage of is we could have called JAL 48 hours in advance and they would have had a limo take us from the airport to our hotel.
I work for an airline, and we always say about the people of japan they leave the aircraft cleaner then when they entered😅 they are always so neat and polite
It is nice too see how does the business class look like from your perspective because you are always naturally normal and you looked excited, I wouldn't enjoy watching this clip if you were like "it's normal and I'm not impressed with this"
