Lovely photos. NOW. Why is there no milk on those Cheerios? I wonder why you opt for a flash as opposed to a light. Seems like an extra step in guesswork. However, something tells me I’m missing something there.

Loved it!!! Thanks for this :)! You are becoming my favorite photo RUclipsr man. By the way, composition would be such a nice topic for another episode! 🤩
Thanks so much for all your awesome videos. I have watched a few now and just totally love your vibe, the videos are informative, fun and easy with easy to replicate set ups. Please keep them coming.
Just watched this vid and found it has the same quality as your other vids. This is the former commercial photog and food photog's assistant. If you look at the late 1977-79 issues of Commercial Photography magazine from Japan, you will see how the Japanese food photogs built and lit their sets. Bloody incredible use of diffusion material and lights and very similar to your approach. And observing natural light is very important. Nice work, figandlight.
where did you buy your C-stand? There's so many options on amazon, it looks so overwhelming. Will you post the affiliate link for that - cause I didn't see it under your links. Thanks!
I am a videographer. So i should use lasting light.. can i make light art without instant light? And thank you for video. I am learning and it gives me idea how to make light. Do you make food video?
There are many ways of achieving sharp images and this topic definitely deserves a video on it's own. for now, I will say, if you're not tethering to your computer, set your cameras playback magnification to it's largest setting so that when you zoom in to your image on your lcd screen, it will quickly zoom in pretty close so you can see right away if your image nailed focus. and then you can adjust from there. hope that helps and will think about covering this in a future video. Thanks for asking!
Love your channel, always very useful and educational without all the over hyped fuss lot of other yt'ers have but still being funny at times and never boring
Very interesting!! You have the most unique lighting I have encountered in food photography, Brandon. The lighting adds depth towards a simple subject. It’s a purposive placement of lights but subtle in effect.
*After watching many videos from your channel* You have got a great content and also really very helpful for those who are trying their hands on Product/ Food Photography. keep giving us such good videos. Thank you
Wow! This is very helpful! I'm starting out on my food and cooking channel and I learned a lof from your video. I don't have a sophisticated set up but the knowledge you shared really helps. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad I found your channel. And now I follow it. Great, man.
Hi, I just found out your channel and instantly subscribed cause I think you make amazing content, all your videos I’m super interesting and I can’t wait to experiment with all these techniques! As I just started with studio photography, I’d really need a “shopping guide” on reflectors, modifiers, stands, backdrops and all these essential props. Do you have any video or suggestions about that? Thank you 🙏
Discovering your channel has reignited something in me and prompted me to pick up my old DSLR and nifty fifty and start shooting again! awesome content!
I think they are too, but I think softboxes cost more, aren't as flexible, and take up more space. A pro to softboxes is it's great at controlling light spill
Just found your channel this morning after booking a photoshoot with a local steakhouse. You've answered several of the specific questions I had about flash, and I'm extremely grateful. Cheers!
nice video! but how come in the "soft and streaks", the shadow of that one strawberry has a different direction? is it because of light which passed through the glass hitting that strawberry?
How do you not have 100000s of followers, this is by far one of the best food photography tutorials I found on RUclips! Many thanks & keep up the good work!
@@figandlight I followed you on Instagram also, you deserve way more recognition! I am really grateful for all the videos you made so far - very eloquent and to the point & you are taking the topic beyond a basic entry level explanation. Best wishes!

You are absolutely right, Rossano.

Just shared this video with my San Diego City college lighting class. Great ideas. Thanks!

Hi Figandlight, I have a question for you.. What material surface do you use in your videos?
Bestest so far removed all my misconceptions and gonna help me to invest in lights in right direction. Thanks alot brotherrrr grow more❤️❤️❤️
This was very helpful. Thank you
Awesome! I'm glad it helped
I have a question, what is the difference between the diffuser and the soft box? I feel like they are the same
I think they are too, but I think softboxes cost more, aren't as flexible, and take up more space. A pro to softboxes is it's great at controlling light spill
interesting
Just watch whole video, too good
2:08 bounced light (like CP did)
3:08 light placement - positioned diagonally (bare light + large diffuser combo)
4:30 Streaky natural light look
6:05 Observe how light behaves in everyday life!
where did get these board?
great stuff)
you should be a cinematographer :)
