Great Comparison! Very useful. The differences between most of the op amps are extremely subtle, I would even say that many of them sound identical. Thanks for putting this together, your hard work is much appreciated.
Sensei, you are such a dedicated person to do all these tests and shoot out! I learnt a lot, thank you!!! One thing is that, when I use my KTR as a boost in front of a metal pedal, the KTR brings much more Hiss noise than my TS9 as a boost. Inspired by your GE-7 mod video, I wonder if I could change the two TL072 op-amps to 5532 or 2114. Is there still that much room for noise improvement as GE-7 mod? You told us that 4558 is among low-noise hi-fi chips, so what about TL072, on what quality level is TL072?
Hi, thanks for watching! Great to hear you enjoyed my videos! Let me try to answer your questions one at a time: Changing the op amps in your KTR will have little to no effect on the hiss. So, I would leave it just as it is. The TL072 is a great op amp, a classic, old standard like the 4558 is. A lot of people like it for the JFETs on its input, but like many things, it's a matter of personal taste. I think there might be two reasons you are getting hiss with the KTR: One, the KTR/Klon has a "sizzle" in the top end, where the TS9 really cuts a lot of the top end signal. So, it's not that the KTR is "creating" the hiss, but just making it more noticeable. Two, the KTR/Klon has way more output level than the TS9, so if you're using it as a boost, you can easily dial in too much output level, which will really make everything noisy. Hope this helps!
@@arito Yes, Sensei! Your answer surely helps. Everything is so clear under your precise reasoning. It will obviously save me a lot of time and labor. I'll take your precious advise and try to figure out how to use it more properly. Respect!!!
Thank you for proving that an op-amp is pretty much an op-amp, and there are no significant differences between them. The differences are so minor as to be completely immaterial, and likely more representative of individual or batch variations than of any other factor.

Thanks for watching! Yes, there doesn't seem to be a significant difference between the tones.
