Enjoyed the video, reminded me of the old days with my kids. Enjoy it because it goes by way to fast. One suggestion regarding your carp gear. I would highly recommend that you try using a bait runner reel. Makes the process much smoother and you will lose less fish. Also, a carp rod with a 3lb test curve will prevent those carp from going where you don't want them to. Not a must, but if you are going to continue targeting carp it will make your fishing experience much better.
Do you have any links to a reel you'd recommend? I have no clue about bait runner reels. I've used bait casters with clickers for catfish but not sure about 'bait runner'. Will definitely get some if it can be beneficial. Thanks for the advice! I plan on targeting carp especially with the kids, they're fun to catch and it's nice to just sit and relax and wait for a fish. I love bass fishing and being more 'active' with fishing making casts and retrieving but there's something special about throwing baits out and just relaxing, talking with family/friends and then having fun watching someone enjoy the carp fight. Any links or referrals you have, I'd appreciate for sure.
I couldn't agree more regarding the joy people get reeling in a carp for the first time. Every time I get asked why I fish for carp I tell them to stick around and I will let them answer that question for themselves. Then I hand them the rod when I get a run...the expression is priceless. Now regarding bait runner/feeder reels you can get the Okuma ( ABF-30 or ABF-40) from Amazon or directly from the Okuma website. I get nothing from Okuma regarding this suggestion; however, I can tell you from my own personal experience the Okuma reels for the price are exceptional. I have caught hundreds of carp and put these reels through some very touch conditions. Bottom line, I have yet to have one ever fail (My RUclips channel also talks about carp gear). I have also purchased several Kast King bait runner reels and every one of them failed after heavy use. There are other reputable bait runner reels out there (e.g. Daiwa, Penn, etc.) but they tend to cost more. Lastly, if you have never used a "carp rod" I think you would really like the feel. I use the Sonik Vader X RS Carp Rods (10'). These can be purchased on the Big Carp Tackle website. I personally don't care for this company but the selection when it comes to carp gear is scarce. Prior to switching to a carp specific rod I used the Penn Squadron III (7' 6") which I still own and it does a great job handling carp of all sizes. The Penn Squadron III can be purchased at Walmart or most Bass Pros. One of the reasons I use a 10' carp rod is it allows me to cast out to areas I otherwise would not be able to reach. I hope this information helps.
I'll get a rod and reel soon. Had the ACL surgery today so might be a minute with crazy surgeon fees and anesthesia 😅 but I definitely would like more carp specific gear. Thanks again
Had an awesome time fishing with one of my boys. Hope everyone had a great Labor Day. Tight lines!
Why do you refer to black people as baboons and why do you fantasize about sexual assault?
Memories made by the water last forever if you ask me. Nice carp for your boy
