Viola da terra from the islands of the Azores

  • Here's one you don't see every day. A "viola da terra," guitar of the land. It originate in the Azores, some remote islands far off the coast of Portugal. It has 12 strings in 5 courses, tuned ADGBD.
    I don't know how to play in the traditional way, so I played it like I might play an acoustic guitar. Let me know what you think!

    Tune the A down to G and it's tuned like a 5 string banjo in standard/open g, except not re-entrant. Very cool.

    It's like a 12 string Parlor Guitar because it sits in your lap
