You got this! I started watching videos like this myself less then a year ago. I took the leap and started small part time while working as a math teacher. This is the Zach I like to see, I just started my business 2 weeks ago and have about 7 regulars now at this point, I gotta say that the reason I started this job is because I like to work on my own and I also suffer from anxieties too, I've always had it since a kid and have accepted it that it is apart of me for life, but I'm ok with that. I also suffer from depression but that's life lol, just focus on the positive and live life to the fullest I suppose. Right now I'm feeling great, the jobs I've been doing have been overgrown Lawns and most of these jobs have taken me hours but I enjoy them in some way lol. Thank uou for being you... God is Good Amen...
@@JeanGrullon hey Jean I've accumulated around 25 good customers, but turned down so a couple too because of animal droppings, just taking it easy as I go but loving life at the moment and loving the job. Thanks
Putting up my first ad tomorrow. Doing Saturday and Sunday spots while still doing my current 9-5 landscaping gig with the goal of transitioning to my own business full time🤞🏼
I started my business just last year in the Bay Area but it's almost impossible to find neighborhoods like this where it's only mowing. Because of that I've had to learn other services and have an open mind about the work I do. Out of the 25 or so customers I have, I can think of 4 off the top that are just mowing. Still, I'm happy to be doing some gardening instead of my old job.
Shoutout to you bro! Man I was born in San Fran fun fact lol all my dads family is there. Man also if you check my community tab- the testimonial from Adrian last week, we launched his business in San Jose ca so nearby to you although not SF- but he was able to got from Uber & odd jobs to full time lawn care in just 3 months. Just like you he’s doing some mowing and some cleanups! And like you bro today in this Vlog most of my revenue came from non-mowing 😎 it be like that sometimes bro! Make that money, build up experience, and in time your 4 mowing customers CAN become 8 mowing customers, and it can become 16. You got 4 houses now man that’s amazing- repeat what you did and just give it TIME to find more yards. This is the long game man and once you get the mowing customers it becomes a snowball effect. Good look fabian and don’t give up! And check my website if you need help 🙏
Same here. Out here in Colorado, everyone wants everything lol. But you can have less customers compared to the 35-50, and have solid work on the 25 like you said
Love your channel bro! I run my business just like you. I used to have employees but scaled back and dropped the stress and actually make more working alone. I live in Wisconsin so the work is super seasonal, but there’s plenty of money to make April through December to pay your bills through the winter. I offer property clean up services and mowing. I cut just shy of 70 properties a week and try to fit in a clean up every other week. I love seeing guys out there killing it the way you are!
I love those little properties they make you a lot of money. I have 6 houses in the same street I just leave my truck at the end and push mow em all. Make about $500 in a few hours
Brooo!!! Keeping your mind busy is so good. I deal with the same things and working makes time pass by. But prayer does help! Community helps also. Staying connected and busy with friends. Your personality is great. You’re doing great stuff.

Hi Zach I have been following you for about 12 mths now I have a very successful business right now with 45 regular customers , I have so much content now with the work I have done ,loads of my customers have been asking about me setting up a RUclips channel?because of the way I connect with them , so do you have any advice on how I would go about doing that ? If you were here in South FL you'd probably get 50 new clients monthly cause the grass here gross crazy year round especially In summer where you cut a lawn and 2-3 days later it's fully grown again
Hey man, i just got my first cut today and it raised some questions... 1) i didnt think to ask about the clippings because the ones at my house are usually pretty dry but how do you approach bagging? Especially when wet, it would take a lot of time and where would it all go haha. Can you do a video on how you get clients? Its all easy until the door swings open. I posted on my local fb group but would like to walk around but dont know how to ask
Seems awkward when the one guy wanted you to do landscaping stuff for 50 bucks when you dont offer that as a service..but i took a mental note from this and i'll be sure to have a good landscaping company to refer them to
Hey bro I've been watching your videos for a few years now. Was wondering, how do you keep track of your customers? Like which customer gets what service, when, and where?
I’ll try to make a vid! But honestly all I use is my notes app & a google doc lol. People get services when they need them! So if someone had mulch, I’ll either offer them mulch replenishing or let them ask me to do it. For fertilizer- I always offer it every season! For shrubs, I offer it only whenever they need a shrub trim! So some things are automatic and some things are on the fly. Every yard starts with a mow- and I’ll always offer mulch, shrub trims, and fertilizer, and if they ask me to do weed sprays I’ll do it! So hope that helps man and in the future I’ll try to make a vid on it 🌱 but seriously the notes app is for my day to day and the google doc is for my records, but it’s just my brain x experience that knows what to offer at what times 😎
My neighbors has a lawn guy. He does several yards in my neighborhood. He must be pretty busy because my next door neighbors grass was over a foot high and very thick. I’m wondering if he’s just too busy to get there sooner.
Great video as always!! I love all your videos. Quick question tho, exmark no longer sells the s-series walk behind that you use. Do you think I should get the x-series instead? (Not buying anytime soon, just wanna know so I know which one to save up for)
Hey zack, i live in Alberta Canada and i started lawn care services by my self, and i just do only mowing, trimming and cleanups, and i make a decent money( around $350-400 per day) and i usually watch your videos for guidance thanks to you, but i usually bag the grass. So my question is should i bag the grass or i mulch?
You rock i like your content and also how you work and the deep dive into like charging and all that. Did you need to do anything to pass out business cards like get a permit or anything. How do you go about getting your name out and marketing for growing your business?
Bro, ever since I found your channel and did some of the stuff you do. I freaking took over a whole neighborhood pretty much. Obviously I charged cheaper which beat the competition. Then I up my prices, lost a few customers but they came back because the other companies had laborers vs. me which is one person and I’m in the north east and the lawns stripe really well. I am slow rolling my services like you are to offer more. But I charge $50min per cut. How do u take payments?? Could u do a video on that one day. I usually take cash, Venmo, PayPal and cash app. I do hate when a customer doesn’t pay. Maybe a video on that too please. Keep up the vibes broskii
Hey if you’re reading this comment what are some things that you’re going to upgrade from your equipment from this year for 2023 or 2022 ??- to me your job more efficient much easier
Just starting and I got 5 yards for now lol. But I also fertilize and do property clean up. Just wondering… what fertilizer do you use? Also what do you use for weeds in grass?
These are my favorite videos. I’ve had my lawn service for 30 years solo. I’ve made a very nice life from these little 5k sq ft lawns. I do around 50 a week with a 36” Wright stander and 21” mower. Keep up the good videos. If only we could keep these youngins from running out and buying trailers and zero turns from the start.
Haha hell yeah Brad! Sounds like an amazing set up I can’t imagine how tight and fun your routes must be now with 30+ years of lining them all up and picking your favs 😎 thank you so much always brother for watching the vids and let’s keep mowin n goin 🌱☀️
You Rock man and your videos Hey got a question for you So I was passing out flyers around the house I serviced today, and one of the homeowners stopped me and asked me for my permit, and then went off on my saying that I have to have one to pass out flyers and if I don’t I have to get out of the community. Have you had any experiences like this ?
Thats cool, so you're basically pricing things higher than the competition and only taking the good customers that only get one quote. YAWN. If you want people to pay you for information, supply them with information.

You can use various programs to accept other forms of payments such as squareup.
Hey if you’re reading this comment what are some things that you’re going to upgrade from your equipment from this year for 2023 or 2022 ??- to me your job more efficient much easier
Hey Zack! What do you use to spray the weeds?

Hey Zachary, curious... what fertilizer and weed killer do you use?
Thank you sir.

Did you buy your exmark new or used? I've been looking for one used but can't find any below $1200. Might just have to keep stacking haha.
You a beast!
What do you do for clients about rainy days or times when you want to go on vacation for a week or so
If you do bagging or hedge clippings do you dump them in the clients trash or haul it away?

Zach what do you use to fertilize and weed control?
U got ur applicators license for weed spray. If not depends on state but here can get in to thousands of dollars in fines caught without one.
What do you use to spray weeds
are you cutting the lawns like clock work bi weekly? or they call when service is needed..
You Rock man and your videos
Hey got a question for you
So I was passing out flyers around the house I serviced today, and one of the homeowners stopped me and asked me for my permit, and then went off on my saying that I have to have one to pass out flyers and if I don’t I have to get out of the community.
Have you had any experiences like this ?
Thats cool, so you're basically pricing things higher than the competition and only taking the good customers that only get one quote. YAWN.
