Probably one of the most underrated Ghost songs. It captures the aesthetic Pro Memoria was going for with far less cheese. An absolutely rocking song

the way tobias pronounces things is so satisfying
I'm not really sure how to express this in musical terms, but the way the second chorus just skips some verses and jumps straight into the chorus gives me chills. Wonderfully done!

Whats cool about this band is that they break away from standard song structure. I also like the pre chorus but as soon as I heard that little skip the second time I was like "yes!!! This is so interesting and original" . That's why I love these guys

Like legit this whole album gives me the chills. I love how Ghost has a certain sound to their music that no one else possesses in 2020- or at all. Tobias is one of my favorites, he has such a one-of-a-kind haunting, power-driven voice.

@@DenpaKei Yeah, I've heard Blue Oyster Cult's song "Don't Fear The Reaper" and I think it's alright, but it's been yonks since I've heard that song, so I can't remember how much like Ghost it sounds. Since I last put that silly comment a few years ago, I've heard a fair bit of 80s rock and I'd say Ghost's guitar tone sounds really like Europe's guitar tone. But Tobias/Papa Emeritus/Cardinal Copia actually has a very unique, beautiful voice, I think. 😀 The person we're all replying to said that, themself, and I agree. I just LOVE EVERYTHING about Tobias. He's unique, he's handsome and he's such a nice guy, too. Who could possibly want more than those 3 qualities in a rock star? 😀 Tobias Forge is PERFECT, if you ask me! This song "witch Image" is so needed to this whole CD, it is really saying about "someones flesh rotting tonight", I thing Tobias's voice is so smooooooth and beautiful that this Cd needed a song or 2 about death and dying to remind us about that this Cd is about the PLAGUE, and death.
There are a few songs and alot of lines in these songs that are about his law suite with the old members of ghost
Listening to it for the first time as I write these words. when he said "You'd never want me to appear" oh boy. That hooked me right in. This band is in another level. I wish I knew them before, when they came here to Argentina. Also, 15 people out of 1200 are deaf. It's great to know the rate of deaf people is getting lower in the world.

I stumbled across this while going through their back catalogue, after hearing (and loving) 'Impera'. It has that trick, an amazing ear-worm of a chorus with dark lyrics, that characterises some of their better-known songs.

Just celebrated my 43rd birthday and remembered this one. The one on a Pale White Horse reminded me that I' one year closer than last time to our 'road trip.' More, if you count the candle I've burnt at the other end too.' Not only have I been pissing my life away wasting time and procrastinating, I'm doing so with habits that'll bring it about sooner. I gotta think more of loved ones like my Mother and how they'd have to bury me along with all our shared regrets. For they wouldn't want me to have to bury them like that like we all did with my Father in Hell.
So underrated it's a crime!

Okay so, here's my (Probably wrong) take;
This is a warning from the devil's perspective to not act rashly out of anger because "Like no other to you (like what others have done to you) what you've done, you cannot undo".
The story I'm getting from the lyrics is a woman sold her soul for the ability to curse someone to death. I'm guessing her father is already in hell for also selling his soul in a fit of rage and the mother's ghost took her daughter's place in hell as an act of love (Like a mother would save her own child from digging a grave) and now that the daughter knows her mother's fate, she regrets it but ultimately can't take it back (what you've sold you cannot un-sell) and she will have to live with knowing these things for the rest of her existence in the afterlife.
Just my take and honestly it's poignant as fuck.
It seems more to be a personification of death, specifically as one of the four apocalyptic horsemen which implies a greater cullimg than just an individual's death, as the album deals with the end of things, a plague. It is a warning yeah, but potentially positive since it's so inevitable you shouldn't worry and live with what you have while you have it. After all, while you sleep in earthly delight, someone's flesh is rotting tonight

I LOVE this song.
I have the CD Prequelle, and I can't stop from hearing a few of the songs on the CD, really the whole Cd is great, I love every song on it, all of them are great. Ghost really do always put out songs that are instantly great, it's so great to know that when you get Ghost's new Cd, you know that you will LOVE the whole damn CD, there are NO "filler" songs, meaning songs that suck, BUT, are just there to fill up the CD. That was a popular thing years ago by pop artists in the 80's have a couple hit songs, the rest were just sucky and boring "filler songs". GHost songs are all GREAT, I have YET to encounter a sucky Ghost song, and I've heard many if NOT ALL songs by Ghost.

From my interpretation, this song is the devil speaking to someone who sold their soul. "You never want this to be over" is the person don't wanting to do their part of the deed and not wanting to go to hell in the end. "You'd never wanted me to appear" is the person don't wanting for the devil to come for them in the end. "What you've done, you cannot undo" and "what you've sold, you cannot unsell" means that even if they regret it, their soul's selling can't be undone, and they ultimately will "suffer this plight"
Maybe not the devil but death since it's talking about riding a pale white horse.
