I just don't understand what's great about Gojira. Compared to other bands like Megadeth, Metallica, I find this band EXTREMELLY monotonous and boring. I guess it is just my musical taste, but really music is about writing complex musical phrases, melody, changing patterns, rhythm, and honestly I find this too dry and monotonous.
It's really two tricks in this particular song: shifting the accent (the kick) from the downbeat to the upbeat, and that little triplet groove at the end. The track is pretty much a straight slow four-on-the-floor rock groove (aside from the 3/4 chorus) with a very sparse riff so he has a lot of room to do whatever he wants.
@ I know the mechanics and writing. It’s his pocket and drag that raise that riff to being phenomenal. They have the same “laid back” timing that makes everything heavy and it’s so difficult to replicate.

I'm in Rehab right now and the noise inside is crushing me. I spent so much time inside my own head that I just want to scream out loud now. Another day in the dark!

The noise inside is far more difficult to control than anything on the outside...this song just reminds me that it's ok to scream, let it out, no one has to understand you.
The song reminds me to embrace all life gives you, especially when you find yourself stranded. There's a reason for it and it's up to you whether or not you waste the moment or embrace the moment. I truly believe this song is s playing a part in the evolution of mankind The energy this song brings forth is definitely unchained...
