That's great to hear ! Thanks for sharing ! I have wonderful memories of listening with my family to the handful of T. Brass albums my mom had at home when I was growing up ! Herb seems like SUCH a humble soul & real class act. Bless his heart for still touring at 88 !!
I saw/heard him play in Westhampton a few years ago (2018?). 🎺printed out trumpet part for "Rise" right after that. Just looked through my old calendars. It was Friday August 2nd, 2019.
For over 50 years, like many people I assumed Herb Alpert was Mexican, come to find out he's a Jewish guy from Romania! What an incredible talent he is. And still married to Lani Hall! Keep going Herb, as long as you can! Love ya, man!
I wanted a record player when I was 5. My parents got me the turntable, but couldn't afford new records. They gave me their TJB albums from the 60s. I started trumpet in the 5th grade, and now, 41 yrs later, I play professionally. My wife has surprised me with tickets to 3 shows in the past 6 yrs. I have left each of those shoes with tears of joy. Thank you Mr. Alpert for your music and your inspiration.
I first fell in Love with Herbs music around 1962, when the "Lonely Bull" was first released. I Love his version of Jobim's "Desafinado" on that same album. I was 11 years old then. Im now aged 72, & still Love Herb's music as well as Lani Hall's music. (Mrs. Alpert). May God Bless these 2 majestic artists. The World is Better, & Brighter with their music. ❤❤
Love for life and passion for music is what makes Herb to be so active in an age where most of people are already retired. This is fantastic, I wish the best for him, and I'm thankful that we all still can enjoy his music
Herb Alpert a man who does not over play the trumpet grew up listening to Herb and his great band love to hear Herb and his great band play Thanks Herb for all the wonderful music take Care
Herb, I am 70 years old and I have been playing the trumpet since age 10. Playing the trumpet and teaching others has brought me great joy! You sir are the reason and influence that led me to the trumpet! God Bless You Herb, I love you man! 🎺🎼🎵🎶
What a treat ! An iconic figure in music, appearing for the first time at an iconic venue ! THANKS so much for uploading ! Mr Alpert is a true National Treasure !
@@sandeedobberstine5591 Thanks so much ! My admiration for Mr. Alpert, his talent, his music, his kindness, & his generosity knows no bounds. As Tennessee Ernie Ford used to say, "Bless his lil' ol' pea pickin' heart !" 🙂
I grew up with Herb Alpert music and I have always loved his music and my dad loved his music also I could listen to Herb Alpert music all day your music always makes me feel happy I'm glad you are still going strong and making music I just saw your video and your still handsome today as you were back when you first started out glad to know that you're still playing the trumpet I will love listening to your music KEEP GOING STRONG YOUR BIGGEST FAN AUNE
Herb is why I begged my parents to buy me a trumpet. I played all through high school in the 60’s. Herb and Al Hirt were my heroes. I still have my vinyls.
My dad had a small workshop shed in the backyard. He had speakers, he would set them on the roof of the shed and play your music. This was back in 1967. Today, I am 61 years old and still love the music you play. So does Dad. :)
Because of Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass I saw them at the Wisconsin State Fair when I was a kid. And because of them I learned to play the trumpet and started me to understand and love music.... their music stands the test of time.
Herb Albert records are my dad’s inheritance. We grew up with his exceptional trumpet and Tijuana Brass music since the late 60s. Many more years to you Herb Alpert. I am almost 60 now.
Herb Alpert is a treasure. His music will live on forever. His song 'Rise' was released during my senior year of high school and I remember. Love that song. I went as a child with my parents to one of Herb's concerts. Think I was 6 or7. It was my very first concert and I will never forget.
I honestly never thought he was still alive. I remember from maybe 4 years old (am now 62) hearing this. My parents album. Heard it over the years and love his music. Good for him…wow…!!
I watched a documentary on youtube that Herb put out on his own channel. He was nice enough to send me a response back a few months later. Always loved his music as a kid. Especially him singing “This Guy’s In Love With You.”
Growing up listing to my mom's Records hearing Mr Alperts music was a joy and it's stuck with me to this day. He is on my Pandora Playlist and I still love his music.
A talent and philanthropist is an understatement. His gifts and love for music for the community has been shared not just in LA, but throughout the country. He is universal.
If you remember the album cover, the woman is model Dolores Erickson. And actual whipped cream couldn't be used because it melted so quickly under the bright lights during the photo shoot. Dolores was about three months pregnant at the time of the shoot, and her pose and expression contributed to the album's iconic status, which made it one of the most memorable album covers in music history. 😉
Dad loved country music, played and sang it. But, he also had many Herb Alpert albums. I can hear those tunes in my mind still. Way to go Opry for having him!
What a nice story about Waylon. He is one of my country western favorite artists. I have not seen this video before. So exciting you, Herb went to the Opry. ❤
He’s always been my hero as I was learning to play the trumpet in High School ! Wish I could have been at the Opry that night ! Sincere congratulations, Herb, well deserved ovation and thanks for all the musical memories ! 👏🏻🙌🏻
Been playing trumpet for over 50 years, and it's all because of Mr. Alpert. Can't thank him enough for all the music and for the inspiration. A true legend.
Musical Icon and still going strong. That's awesome !! Spiced up my childhood with that Latino sound !! I still can't get that "WHIPPED CREAM AND OTHER DELIGHTS" album cover out of my head !!
My Grandpa turned me on to Herb when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I instantly loved his sound. My Grandpa had ever album Herb and the Brass ever made. When visiting him we would listen to the albums every evening after super. What a great time! I still listen to Herb and I’m now 65. So grateful my Grandpa loved Herb and let me listen to his albums so I could love him too.❤
So happy I clicked on this. He is an amazing artist still working his craft and loving it, and not a house man. Marty Stuart letter was really a cool segment.
What an AUTHENTIC dude, have loved his music since being exposed to it as a small child in the late 60’s!!! His music is unique & timeless, in my early 60’s now & still love his music, this is so cool, seeing that he played the Opry & that interview was cool too-such a humble soul-wow-Luv U Herb!! ❤❤❤🌀😱👍🙏🌞‼️‼️
Good on you Mr. Alpert, the genesis of my love for music was in the 60s, and I listened to many TJB singles, a truly crack band. Kudos to you, and a life well lived, and thank you for sharing your gift.
You gotta love this guy. He gives so much to others and yet, is so humble. He is the reason I still play the trumpet today. Been playing 55 years now, still ad-libbing on! He has been such an influence to my whole musical journey. Keep it going Herb, push on forever. You are loved from here. DJB

He performed in Iowa City last week; my wife and I were there and had a great evening. At 88 he still made the trumpet sing.

I like how Herp is one of the few who did not try to rip off his artists. The Carpenters spoke highly of him as well as they got their star a A&M.
