Enjoyed that buddy , we just brought a T4 caravelle 23 years old , did are first camp at week end .. great time . We have subscribed as well ..cheers Chris & sammy
T4 caravelle 👍 all the luxuries 🤙 I’ve got plenty of content on repairs for the t4 so if you ever get stuck give me a shout. Thanks for commenting and subscribing, I have also just subscribed to you guys, and I look forward to watching your videos on the t4 👍 Cheers guys, Matt
Nice job ! I repaired 2 inner arches on my T4 a few days ago : welding, then rust converter and black epoxy coating. I don't know how long it will last but it seems to be waterproof.
Panel prices are good in comparison to how long it actually takes to fabricate some of the panels. It’s only solid as long as you said “it’s not going anywhere” after welding it up 👍 😂 I keep looking at getting myself a Tig, I shouldn’t and don’t really need one, but you know how it is 😂
I have just done this very job!!! And this video would have been a massive help. Biggest problem I had was revealing the awful workmanship of previous repairs...which then have to be cut out, as you said "never a 5min job" Did you prime first then weld ?
I see many people posting in forums saying I done this this and this in an hour which then people do the job, takes longer and then they moan it took all day 😂 Yes I used upol weld #2 before welding and then etch primer over the welded patch 👍
@@TwiggsT4 I'll try that on the next job (because it's always Pandora's box with a T4) i primed after welding, then sealed over it. What thickness did you use for the arches and inner wheel arch?
Hello Twiggs don't know if you can help but I have a T4 and am in the process of replacing windscreen the washer bungs and pipes (they were original and perished). Thing is I can't fathom how to get the bonnet grille out - Haynes manual only describes the short nose and the long nose is different and only seems to be held in by clips but I've tried releasing four along the top but can't see any at 5he bottom. Any ideas? Many thanks Ken
Id check the rear chassis where the shocks bolt to. There's a plate for extra strengh, under the plate the chassis rots away. I also found the floor was bulging on the inside when i stripped mine out, under the floor there another strengthening sheet of metal thats rotted away. Most people don't realise this.. and the inner sill and b post and sl8ding door step fell apart. These vans are rot boxes.

Awesome, that should give it a few more years on the road👍
True story
Nice one Twiggs
Cheers buddy 🍻 🔥
Looking forward to seeing you deal with the bubbling sill. Got the same issue on mine
That will be tackled soon 👍
For a bodge intrim fix, that turned out alreet. If i were you, I'd not bend down so much, your knees are shagged, thought it was me bending down lol.
Yeah still looking good at the moment. Mate my knees, I was only saying to the lad today at work I’m too old to be kneeling down doing these repairs 🤣
Vag life i had bubbling sill on my mk5 golf soon turned to swiss cheese as previous owner just fillered over lol now got new complete sill on lol
Haha gotta love the bodges 😂 good to hear you sorted it by doing a proper job 👌
@@TwiggsT4 for sake of 70 pound was alot easier to take wing and both doors off least know it's solid and was good excuse to buy a new welder 😁

@@TwiggsT4 yeah bit fiddly if get pattern panels but saves messing about if was small hole I'd of chopped it back and put piece of steel in lol 😆
What was the yellow stuff on it before you sprayed it ?
That was a fine filler to fill any small holes, also know as top stop

The metal I used for the outer was only 1mm and the inner is 1.2mm not much init to be fair
Are you using flux core wire on the MIG welder?

There in the corners at the bottom mate.. if you try and bend it as you putt is should release them all.
please can you let me know about 'RUST OFF'? Thanks dx
