VW T4 Rust Repair & Bodywork Preparation - Camper Van Rust Removal Before Paint

- In this video I carry out a rust repair on my VW T4 High Top. There is surface rust around the wheel arches, the sills, fuel cap and area's where the high top meets the bodywork and I want to remove the rust before painting the van. I remove rusty area's using a grinder with a flap disc which removes surface rust without cutting in and a dremel for the hard to reach area's. Once all the rust has been removed, I treat the area's with Hammerite Kurust rust treatment. Once treated, I prep the area's with primer ready for the roller paint to begin (which will be covered in another video).

Hi, great video , thank you.
Could I just ask what primer you use please?
Outing special, generic stuff really
I have a t4 that has some pretty bad rust spots around the windows and would be reluctant to use a grinder next to them, would you say it is always necessary to grind down to bare metal?
Grind it off or cut it out is the only way to stop rust
Hi,
What grit flap disc did you use for this?
Thanks
80 grit
@@TheCampervanBuilder Cheers, I'm on it :)
youve not solved the rust on front arches inner wing corrosion
Very helpful. What make angle grinder is that? Cheers
Bosch professional
What primer did you use?
just standard stuff my local autoparts store had
Looking Good - Should do the Wheels with Krust - looks amazingly good - did mine as a quick fix - still looks fine after 6 months with just the Krust :)
I've had a set of 18" wheels sat in my front room for the last 7 months waiting to go on, now the paint is almost done they can go on soon
Great job mate, I'd rather do this than pay thousands f a spray job
Thanks, yeah it was fun to do and has saved a ton of cash, my first time attempting bodywork / painting but it has came out pretty good, I've just applied the last coat of paint today so just some flatting back and polishing to go, almost there now.....
