Whoa just stumbled across the Cyber Kicks short and I'm blown away. As a student using C4D/Redshift it's super inspiring to see such amazing stuff! I've got a few questions if you've got the time :) - for the running, I'm pretty familiar with the C4D's mixamo + motion clip system but how did you get the character to lean/change direction smoothly at around 00:19? Was this with the mixamo control rig? - for the flips at 00:38 I'd assume they're mixamo as well, just wondering how you meshed them so cohesively with the running whilst also keeping the feet grounded? - did you use takes to manage the different scenes or make separate projects? - how did you approach your camera animation? really awesome movement that reminds me of into the spiderverse! -motion blur/DOF in Redshift or through AOVs in post? Thanks a lot! -Dave
This was an older suit made by Noitom. Nowadays I use the Perception Neuron 3 from Noitom. Though, just so you know, a lot of the motion capture in this film was done using samples downloaded from online such as all the running and flipping. Not to say that the newer suit I use now isn't good, but just thought you should be aware
@@arsenbarsegyanc7734 I started out with Noitom from the begginign since Rokoko wasn't around back then. So when I upgraded, I stuck with Noitom since from what I can tell, Rokoko might not be as stable as Noitom is at capturing motions that are more physical. Such as jumping, walking, dancing, etc. But that's just what I've observed from watching their own promotional material. I imagine in practice, the two suits are rather similar
Hei @something's Awry, brilliant stuff. Amazing stuff. Wow! I have a few questions why cinema 4d? Why use it and not other software like iClone and stuff? And the suit, is that the Perception Neuron and your thought? When are you making a tutorial about the production process, it would be amazing. Once again brilliant brilliant stuff.
Cinema 4D is the software I started using when I first started messing around with 3D. In general, it's just very approachable and user friendly. Plus it doesn't crash nearly as often as things like Maya. The suit is a pretty old notiom suit that I got back in 2017. It works for simple things that don't involve a lot of crazy movements. But anything beyond that and it breaks. The new suits from noitom are much more stable. But since this was the old suit, I had to use mocap clips downloaded from online for all the running, flipping, and jumping. Unfortunetly, I don't think I'll be making a in depth tutorial on my production process since tutorials aren't really my thing, but if you have any specific questions about it, I'd be happy to answer!
you guys are amazing!!! how many people worked on this project and how long did it took? what programs did you use? and is that motion capture device for animating?
It was just me working on the project and it took just over two months to complete! Luckily, I was able to use some pre-made model packs for things like the buildings and cars. I used Cinema 4D and Redshift for all the 3D stuff. Animation was also easier than it might normally have been since I used my somewhat janky motion capture suit for the simpler animations. For anything that involved running or flipping, I got motion capture clips from online.
@@alexkim9585 Ha no problem! The scale is as close to accurate as I could get just by estimating the size of each of the things. No idea if its actually to scale, but as long as it look right in camera, that worked for me! For compositing, I used After Effects. Basically adding a lot of fog effects wherever possible and then lens flares where I could find places for them.
I do use motion capture for the movements of the characters. That's all done using clips I get from mixamo.com or from my own motion capture suit. I put that into motion system in Cinema 4D. The fact that you're doing Motion Capture in your own home is UNBELIEVABLE!!! 🤩🤩🤩
this is so amazing.
I love how you used the same dynamics and style that you used for your brickfilms (especialy Kentucky Jackson) :) Keep up your amazing work!
OMG this is so inspiring thank you for being so open and honest about your creative process keep up the great work bravo 👏🏼 .
How have I only discovered you??? You're amazingg!!
