Coworker was implementing changes on the weekend. One set of changes was implemented 10pm on Saturday and the second was implemented at 4am on Sunday. So, he stayed at the office and took a nap in his cubicle. A manager happened to be in to supervise another change (not his manager BTW.) Noticed him sleeping and on Monday went to his manager to complain and have him fired for sleeping on the job. ??? Dude we are salaried, it is the middle of the night on the weekend. Coworkers’ manager could not have cared less. Complaining manager was eventually forced out of the company in the most satisfying way.
I love the "IDWH" stories.

Funny how Steven said that it's wrong to throw people UNDER THE BUS, and yet he does EXACTLY what he stated that you SHOULDN'T do. Now I know why people ask you to cover your own butt. If someone told me to NOT throw people under the bus, I would throw under the bus the one who told me not to before THYE do it to me.
I don't use that phrase, myself. But I have managed people, and I have pointed out that my job is to make my subordinates job easier, that as a subordinate to someone else, my job is to try to take up some of the slack in their position so that they can focus on the important things. That hasn't stopped me from getting thrown under a tank and ground back and forth a few times...
I have to go back to what Kirk duvane used to say in the TV series Newhart. He own the Minuteman Diner before Larry Darryl and Darryl took over.

The last story OP’s ex girlfriend wouldn’t ring up his groceries. Since she knew OP, she could get fired for ringing him up. So all she has to do is say to the head cashier or her supervisor that OP is her ex, and she wouldn’t have to serve him.

too long and detailed and convoluted...
After the woman was out of his life, the very best thing to do was to STAY AWAY. FAR AWAY. NEVER go anywhere near her. Do not forget, there are cameras everywhere, and she could actually start getting her manager in the supermarket to save that footage. In fact, I would not be surprised if after the second time he showed up at her register, she would not have had the manager clued into that. This guy is really, really, really playing with fire and he's just aching to get bits burned off.
The camera would only show that he came there and bought groceries. Her manager would watch the footage and be like WHAT? In fact as long as he was polite did nothing inappropriate. The camera would prove that he did nothing wrong. Also clued into what? That she tried to frame him? If she started any shit it would most likely end with her getting fired again.

Not at all. I had a run in with a terrible woman who took every opportunity to do everything she could to try to destroy me and every way possible. She started coming to a place I was at where she had no business to be comma despite the fact that was a public area... evidence of her repeated visits with sufficient for a judge to rule that her later times were without validity. In fact, I was asked if I wanted to file orders and things of that nature after that. So.... You don't quite understand the whole dynamic here.
Remember, people build new loyalties with other people based on a variety of things. That manager that you referred to could be a decent upstanding guy who just saw her as a good worker, or he could be a creep who was schtupping on the side, and thus would go in with both feet.
