Hi Connie, I have an easier way to make boxes with lids. Just make the paper for the lid 1/8th larger. For example, cut the bottom box paper at 6x6, and the lid at 6 1/8th by 6 1/8th. Then score at 2 inches all around on both pieces of paper. The lid will fit perfectly. I love your videos and your positive attitude, never change!
Thank you Connie. Very easy to understand. I made advent calendars for my granddaughters for Christmas and I could not understand how to create the boxes and I asked several crafters here and I still did not understand. I think I k ow now. Thank you. Betty
This is brilliant, I already knew to either move over slightly or use a shim, but to have something that slips on the side and stays in place, no more struggling to hold everything in place and score, just brilliant... Thank you sooo much for sharing Connie!
Hello Mrs Connie, I just wanted to thank you for you taking the time to show us your tricks to making a box without any trouble with the lid fitting just right. I have been searching the u tube all over and with a lot of failure and many sites yours worked just great. And thank you for showing us how to make the shim to fit over our scoreboard, even though I do not have a stamping up scoreboard I had to do some figuring with the sides if the board is not the same as the one you made and gave the instructions for making one. I do have one question what size are the boxes you are showing in this video. Thank you, Patricia may
I don't have these boxes any longer but honestly, you will want to customize the box to fit what's going inside so stick to the L + D + D and W + D + D and you will have a perfect box.
kudos to you Connie. every time I went onto the Internet to find how to make a box it always came up with origami‘s and that I did not like. I am so so glad that somebody has finally done a video that is so easy to understand; but I’ll have to brush up on my math. Thank you🤩
Thank you for sharing this idea again!! I remember seeing it before but never did it 🤦🏻♀️ Well, guess what I'll be doing first thing in the morning with my cup of coffee!! Yay!!
Ah Connie this really made me smile. You radiate happiness . You really do ‘love what you do’ and it’s fantastic that you share it with us. Im so happy for you tfs 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👍👍🇬🇧
I love making boxes and have had problems getting the tops to fit snugly. This idea is great except for the fact that I don't have the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Guess I'll have to order one the next time I place my demo order. Thanks for sharing.
Connie - thank you so much for reducing this problem to simple addition. I can't tell you how many sheets of cardstock I have gone thru trying to make the needed box. I just tried your directions and it worked perfectly. Now to find my window sheets so I can make the shim. :)
I am a new subscriber and wanted to say how what a great idea this is! I am going to write the box measurment formula on my cardstock portion so it will always be right at hand when I use my shim. Thank you!
Connie I just want you to know what an inspiration you are. I have used this box idea for several different events and made the boxes to match the cards I put in them. They were a big hit at our church ladies conference. Thank you so much for all you do to help others achieve their goals.
@@simplysimplestamping it was late when I saw your video but I decided to make the bumper anyways, then I made a box to try it and then I realized it was 3 in the morning LOL. I appreciate that bumper a lot, thanks.
You are amazing Connie, Loved spending time with you on the Greek Isle Cruise, I am sure going to do these, and that shim tip will definitely come in handy for my retreat, I shall make one each for the attendees and mark them `Connie's magic shim!! LOVE IT.. Would love to see a video making the `scratch paper box, xxxxxxx
@@simplysimplestamping I loved to so much, I went on a search on your blog and I bought the PDF, Just love it, so different... I can't wait to make my attenedee's the box shim such a fabulous tip. Thank you, xxx
As always your tips are fabulous and I've learned a lot! thanks! Now the way I was taught to make lids is to cut the lid paper 1/8 of an inch wider then score the same as the box like in your video and you got a fitting lid. This has helped a lot cause I "misplace" everything on my crafting table and find it 10 minutes later when it was just sitting on my table. ♥
Thank you so much Connie, I’ll have to follow the vid step by step the first few times but this is brilliant, I can’t tell you the amount of cards Iv made and not had a box to present them in and they never looked as good in a cellophane bag, it spoils the surprise. You have a very positive, uplifting presentation that always leaves me smiling, thanks again and have a great weekend🙋🏽👍🏽
You are AMAZING! I am so going to use this. I love to make card stacks for family and friends as Christmas gifts. I can't wait to get started making for Christmas 2019 and now putting them into beautiful boxes. Thank you.
Another winning video, Connie! I love boxes but rarely make them because of the extra time involved planning them out. Now, I will be able to produce boxes with ease - thank you! You're the best!
Hi Connie, have you ever/shown how to make that 4th box? I love that one. I'm a visual person and would love to see how you made that one and what you call it?.
This...is...awesome. I've never seen this before and it will now be my go-to tutorial for boxes. Yours are "simply" gorgeous. Lol I can't tell you often enough how much fun papercrafting is thanks to your channel.
What a fabulous video Connie. I struggle with boxes too. I make my own chocolate treats and always looking for ideas of how to present them. My biggest struggle is a pretzel box. I do chocolate covered pretzel rods and I found one video for a box, unfortunately it's being done on red cardstock and you can't see the score lines. My one inside flap is always cut too narrow so I'm hoping maybe you can do a pretzel box. Thanks for your awesome videos and ideas!
@@simplysimplestamping thanks for your help. I finally figured out the problem. The woman in the video used dark red paper and I was unable to see her score lines. Plus she used her Stampin Up trim and scoreboard and put her 1/2" score on the right then turned paper around to remaining scorelines. This was the issue. I screwed up 4 boxes before I finally realized the problem. I will try your directions. Thanks so much. If you Google pretzel box you'll see what I'm talking about. Have a good weekend!🌺🌼🌹🌷
I made this shim from your tutorial a long time ago and I love it and use it all the time! I loved watching this and was fascinated with the box you made for your scrap paper!
