    Rat tail tang when you had enough steel to do full tang. Pity.

      Rat tail tangs are more practical than full tang. It reduces vibration to hand. It is also stronger like full tang.

      I was about to say the same thing, then I saw your comments.
      Obviously, these knife makers (smiths) never actually used their products in real life combat/survival situation. 😂😂
      Otherwise, they’d know that they need to leave a longer tang.

    ps
    Лучше закалить в масле и отпуск ~300 C по цельсию . HRC ~ 58

      Тоже хвостовик позабавил, как и прочее. Но это для туристов, да и действительно. на стенку. Забавно читать как восторгаются зрители, особенно западные. На них это и рассчитано.

    • @miketaylor803
      @miketaylor803 8 месяцев назад +1

      i thought almost exactly the same thing - the blade was ground so the edge blued through heat then tempered? the tang was cut short then a THIN round bar welded on to extend when there was enough material on the original hammered piece to have a full length ? The tempering was done in water (risky and may result in excessive brittleness) I think you're right these are for tourist mementos as I can see the weight of that blade easily snapping / bending the handle / tang if used

    Привареный хвостовик заведомо плохая идея,обломится обязательно,закалка тоже так себе на троечку,получился сувенир,но никак не рабочее орудие, оружие..а все восхищения здесь -это похвалы людей урбанинизированых,отвыкших от настоящих вещей.

      Тонкий винтик как хвостовик, долго не прослужит, его можно только положить в витрину. У них хорошее мастерство, но в итоге ничего хорошего из этого не выходит. Надеюсь, Google перевел правильно. Привет из Германии.

      Exactly my thoughts. Also, craftsman is using hand file for unknown reason, and few seconds after that is profiling the blade on electric powered grinding wheels. I guess the purpose of filing was just to show how this is a "hand made" product. Cheap and false advertising for a terrible product. It's not even pretty.
