    Watching this from Dubai Marina across from JBR as I look at real estate to relocate here later in the year. Thanks for the insight.

    Great video, very informative. That’s how living in Florida Las Olas was very touristy, next to lake and ocean. Only downside was after living there for a year I was ready to be back near nature!

    Hey, follow Dubai (would be) resident here!
    Having spent some time in the Marina, I agree with your points. Super convient and nice overall.
    Though the area is a bit on the crowed side, it's still possible to have a quiet place. I stayed at 2 places in the Marina earlier this year. In one of them, in Murjan tower, I was facing the street and I could hear cars constantly till very late. But in the other one, Delphine tower, it was fairly quiet and with a slightly nicer view (blue-ish towers rather than the pale yellowish facades of JBR buildings), while just being a minute or two away from the main area. That was a nice combo.
    Traffic wise, is there any area that you know that isn't affected by this? It seems to me that it's a problem pretty much everywhere interesting in Dubai in peak hours.
    To me the biggest weak point of the Marina, but that's unfortunately almost everywhere the case in Dubai, is greenery. I'm currently staying at the Dubai creek, my apartment is facing a park with grass, that's very refreshing. As I'm spending most of my day at working from home like you, seeing the greenery outside really makes a difference. Do you know of other neighborhoods which have a decent park?
    Keep it up with the videos, that's good job!

    • @rasmusgutfelt
      @rasmusgutfelt  Год назад

      Hey Nathan!
      I'm not sure exactly what area isn't affected by traffic, and everything will be jammed up during peak hours. But my pet peeve with my apartment is that i'm just by the tram, and those red lights there just never turn green 💀
      How do you find living in Creek Harbour? Been looking at it myself, have some friends there that speaks highly of it!
      Other place i've come by that's really neat is Dubai Hills, around the same price range as Creek as well and they have a massive park. If you have time, go grab a coffee at The Hills Eatery or go to the golf club, that's super nice!

      @nathand.m.5917 Год назад

      @@rasmusgutfelt I quite like it. It's definitely more on the quiet side compared to the Marina or core downtown. Still a 2-3 grocery stores, a cafe and a few restaurants but that's a residential area. The main pros to me are the new high quality buildings and the park, especially if your apartment faces the park as I said. Well, you can also get a view of the Burj if you're on the Western side of the outer ring but for one it's more expensive and two, these apartments are hit hard by the sun for almost the entirety of the day, I feel it might not be the best bet.
      Good idea, I'll visit the coffee this weekend and see by myself 👌

    It's also ridiculously expensive for any kind of alcohol, beer. Even food in the restaurants is rather ridiculously priced. Overall it's miles and miles better living in any southeast Asian country. The quality of life is much higher, the climate is much better, the people are much more friendly. It's very very difficult to make any arguments for living in Dubai, compared to Asian countries

      I think it’s a personal preference. I’ve been to a few southeast Asian countries and it just didn’t do it for me. Couldn’t see myself live there.

      I've met quite a few people running their own business here in Dubai, mostly through friends of friends. I don't do any business with other UAE companies, so in terms of generating revenue from moving here it's been $0. But the business has grown through all the advice i've gotten from the people i now call friends and from just living in a better environment that's more motivating 🙏

      You can consider expo 2020 site or Dip, it's newer development compared to Marina or JLT and don't have that crazy traffic issue....
      In case you work remotely, you might consider some other areas, away from cost line or even Sharjah, would have beautiful developments and much cheaper

    I stayed there for a couple of weeks, it's just too damn hot to enjoy. It's a real shame as it's quite nice the design of it and the walkways around the water etc. It's just so hot that it's not possible to enjoy it.

    Dubai Marina feels insanely claustrophobic because there's nothing but narrow promenades and streets. It feels like there is not one wide open space, the beach is tiny and overcrowded, and the traffic is unbearable. I love to visit the marina every now and then but I would hate to live there. When I think of other luxury waterfront areas around the world I think of beautiful wide open tree lined promenades 4 times the width of marina's with tons of shade, lots of grassed sitting areas, massive indoor areas along the promenade full of luxury shops, casinos, Michelin star restaurants, evening water shows, people wearing suits dressed up for the occasion, breathtaking driveway valet entrances, and massive conference/exhibition centers, but I see none of that in marina. There is nothing in marina but average quality residential towers all squashed as closely together as possible. it's actually grimey not luxurious. It is a development built by a master developer in order to sell as many plots and apartments as possible, not a community planned by a government for the people, and that's exactly how it feels. It's a great place to visit once a month but horrible to live there. Dubai Marina is literally built on a beach but it makes you feel like you miss nature, that alone tells you how poorly planned the area is.

    Hi Rasmus, thanks for the video! I have two quick questions, I'd appreciate so much if you could bring me some light here:
    1. What buildings would you recommend to rent a studio / small apartment for a year? Taking into account location, quaility of staying and freedom. Budged 110 AED/year aprox.
    2. About dating, what if you met a woman you like and want to bring her to your place? Does these giant buildings with security allow that? I heard they changed the law and now is Ok, but just to confirm.

    Hey Rasmus,
    Thanks for your great advice and descriptions :)
    I am moving to Dubai from Europe in one month and I was recommended Marina pretty much. Same as you report, I feel it may be too busy for my taste, as I am not too much into going out to bars or restaurants but more into walking around, nature and more "local life".
    Would you recommend a different area not far from Marina? My job will be based in Jumeira Islands... Jumeira Village would be something to consider or do you find it too far or isolated for a daily life quiet routine?
    May see you around if still in Dubai soon :)
    Take care and thank you!
    L.

      Regarding Marina, might be a bit too crowded if you looking for more peaceful places, there are many other communities
