"The Great Unknown" - WOOKIEFOOT (2019)

This song is dedicated to the idea that there is more to be discovered in the mystery and wonder than there is in the ego idea of thinking the we "know" stuff. My daughter reminds me of this every day... how much magic surrounds us in the what we normally pass over as mundane.
As I often do, I wrote this to answer a question for myself. That is... why does it seem that people are clinging harder than ever to needing to "know"? Absolutism seems to be at an all time high right now. I feel it has something to do with the fracturing of information that came with the digital age. The internet and prolific media options (from hundreds of news outlets, to thousands of tv channels, to billions of web pages) did more to divide the concept of shared realities than it's original intention of bringing us together. I see our current president as being both a result of this mass misinformation as well as a cause and exploiter of it.
My guess is that everyone is just sliding deeper into fear as the collective consciousness literally shatters... like a mass schizophrenia. Mental illness and depression are at an all-time high. Everyone just feels outraged, injured, or insecure (with good reason) which will of course lead people towards absolutist ideas and fundamentalist thinking. There is a temptation to just tune it all out... but these times need us also to be involved and aware. Quite the dilemma.
So for me personally, I feel like remembering to not "know" is the best medicine right now. When I can get back to the mystery, love and hope always return! I don't have to find them... they find me!
Well... I sure just said a lot of words for someone that's just trying to say nothing :)
