@Teringventje Then tell us, on what? We have universal healthcare coverage, being ranked 4th healthiest country worldwide by the Bloomberg Global Health Index. Our education system is ranked 1st worldwide by OECD's Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and the 3 least corrupt nation out of 175 countries, according to the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International.. Our military defence spending is already at about 3% of GDP, the highest in our region, and there's no reason to increase it. And also we have lifelong schemes in place for every Singaporean that helps plan for and assists in paying for anything from healthcare costs, public housing, and retirement. So what are we supposed to spend on? Projects like the Jewel isn't just "looks", which you'd known if you actually watched more than 5 seconds of the video. It's to attract foreign investment and tourism, something that's been important to Singapore since we gained independence from the British decades ago. We have no natural resources; trade, travel through our borders and foreign spending is what drives our economy, and what turned us from a third world country to first in less than 50 years.
My dad was part of the planning team for the HSBC Rain Vortex. He said that the waterfall's so big, that one water pump wasn't sufficient to pump it from the base of the waterfall to the top. So there's one at Basement 4, and another one at Level 3.

I always stop in Singapore even though I can choose a direct flight. I can't sleep on the plane, so a few hour rest at Changi is awesome. Amazing airport.
It's amazing to see this in Singapore. Every time I land in SG and overwhelming feeling of peace and warmth that I have come home fills me up. I even enjoy taking the taxi to enter into the city corridors, no matter where I am coming from be it EU or other parts of south east Asia, no matter how enjoyable the visit was there's nothing that beats this amazing feeling.
Now compare the size and Budget of the 2 countries. Followed by the amount of natural resources available. And then you get your answer as to why Singapore took so Long to build the Jewel
Best airport in the world, best airlines in the world, one of the best cities to live....great governance, discipline and infrastructure...... Singapore is doing a great job!
Singapore's concept of a city+garden is really beautiful. Singapore looks so futuristic whenever I go. So pretty! The super-trees are also very impressive!
I am happy that I live in Singapore right now. I am so happy that I get to see Jewel turn from a garage to the airport space for the future. What's even better is that people of different races, religions and genders get to come together and contribute as equals, to bring 'wow' to the world. I am proud that I can give a few ideas on Jewel and Terminal 5. There are many other great airports around the world, notably in Seoul and Beijing Daxing. However Changi keeps on-upping the rest and will continue to do so. Technocracy and humanity lives on!

I make sure to do this all the time. Changi was my second overseas airport to have a layover, and I was already impressed, and that was 5 years ago. Now I am more excited to see the Jewel. Thank you to everyone there who also get what fliers want to have in an airport. I feel like they understand how exhausting and stressful it is to land in an airport that is unfit for any human consumption, confusing, not accommodating, dull, and miserable. I am never unhappy when I get long layovers here. They only thing I wish they do is to increase the number of transit hotels and lounges, it starting to get crowded and hard to get a room reserved in time. Yes, I know it's best to reserve the rooms online but it helps to have that. However, I am thankful when I get an available lounge chair to doze off on, all I need is my neck pillow and blanket and I am good to go. :)

@Mash Abdul well first things first, when comparing countries one should use gdp per capita not gdp itself. Otherwise a country like Liechtenstein will never have more gdp than a country like China even though they have one of the highest gdp per capita in the world. Secondly, I highly doubt that Singapore will be a servant to Indonesia. Do you know how many Indonesians come to Singapore to earn a living? Why do you think they would bother coming if Singapore was a servant country to Indonesia? Lastly, any Indonesian elite will be able to call the shots against any Singaporean. I don't know what you're smoking but I'll like some of it.
@Mash Abdulndonesia has always been South East Asia's biggest economy currently just over $1 trillion and Singapore's is only $350 billion, about three times smaller than Indonesia's. Indonesia has its strengths and weaknesses and ditto Singapore. We don't have to be "servants" as you put it. We do not have a Big hinterland to depend on like Hong Kong has China. We have a VERY small 5.6 million population and ZERO natural resources. We only have brain power and will have to create our own "luck" to stay relevant to the whole world. This we've done a pretty decent job so far. Despite our high operational costs and wages compared to our neighbors, this hasn't stopped the more than 10,000 foreign Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) to set up shop here. Our strength lies in our peace and political stability, rule of law, low crime rate, excellent infrastructure, telecommunications, transport and a highly educated workforce among others. This has made Singapore a magnet for foreign companies/countries, so much so that the US has placed a huge chunk of its Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Singapore (US$274 billion) as of 31 December 2018. This is more than the US has invested in Japan and China COMBINED. Meanwhile China is one of Singapore's biggest trading partners and we are China's biggest foreign investor. We were also ranked #2 overall worldwide by one of the world's Big-4 audit firms (PwC) www.pwc.com/sg/en/government-public-services/assets/cities-of-opportunity-sg-facts-sheet.pdf

What i love Singapore is the ENCHANTED garden and the living wall where the carousels are. You can admire those plants while waiting for your lugagge. Never a boring minute. That's why i dont mind having a long lay over there

@Mash Abdul what does any of what you replied to me have to do with your first statement?
Im singaporean and have been there and it was AMAZING IM SO PROUD
YES ! Changi is like a second home to me already and I will certainly be spending time here to enjoy what has been created. It just helps to add to the title of The " worlds best airport "
Yesssssssss
My city airport looks like the local ghetto compares to Singapore airport.
I have been to Singapore many times and yes, I would layover just to enjoy the Crown Jewel.
This july i will experience to visit again SINGAPORE, so excited because its my birthday ❤🙏😀
jm me I hope you have a good time 😀😀
Consider flying to Langkawi or Labuan if you want duty free liqour, every meal.
ENJOY YOUR STAY
Singapore welcomes you!
@@rainworldd2109 thank you very much ❤😀🙏
Since my first time in Singapore, I very loved to all Singaporean things such as cuisines (including white laksa and Yong Tau Foo), MediaCorp/TCA Artistes (major celebrity management in Singapore) (including Pierre Png, Rui En, Lim Peifen, Chen Romeo, Elvin Ng, Carrie Wong etc), their life, products and brands (including prima taste) etc.
What i love Singapore is the ENCHANTED garden and the living wall where the carousels are. You can admire those plants while waiting for your lugagge. Never a boring minute. That's why i dont mind having a long lay over there
Lol ppl are traveling here just to stay in the airport 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There HAD to be some Disneyesque Imagineers involved !
Also the environmental designs are top notch in blending seamlessly .
Truly proves a well planned , themed destination will succeed every time .
Headed to Singapore in september.... and this just made me even more excited!
This century truly belongs to Asia🙏
Whenever I went to Vietnam with my family for New Years, there was always a stopover at Singapore since we fly with Singapore Airlines. I absolutely loved exploring the Airport in the small amount of stopover time we had but now holy heck I need a whole day to explore this place😂 I’m so excited for my next trip aaa
I'll fly from Indonesia to Changi specifically to see this 😚
Welcome to Changi! Enjoy your trip!
The best place for a connection with a few hours in between. Much better than Dubai. Great story and presentation Uptin.

'Overall it feels like a theme park.' Singapore is a theme park
5years building time is more than just impressive...
einfach nur Leo it's not it's considered long in singapore
So cool! I'd come just for this!
Wow, this is insanely inspiring and fantastic!
I could honestly just live in the airport
Classy. That's progress. Singapore rocks. 👌👍
Never knew singapore's airports could be this imppresive
At least now I have a reason to leave home earlier to get to the airport, I live in Singapore 🇸🇬
The us should take notes. They have trees omg, i love nature and also shopping mall Take NOTES!!!!! Oh snap thanks for the likes ^_^
Alex C *takes notes*
seriously tho, US airports are so bland compared to other countries
@@emilianoandrade7946 ikr
Alex C Like all of Singapore, its flashy and technological but utterly fake. Its so typical of Singapore. An artificial 'paradise' with absolutely no soul.
@@552mustang that's ok at least they are creative.
Oh Jewel is so beautiful, I love all the trees so uplifting, so much oxygen!
I went there when it first open. IT WAS A REALLY GOOD PLACE TO GO! There's a light show at night btw!!
impressive. Just look at Heathrow in the UK ...
I have been Heathrow 3times.last time was 10days ago.Heathrow airport is 6.5 out of 10 for me..the spaces was too crowd..The worst part I keep shopping but a so international famous airport don't provide any trolley to travelers..This is a worst part,I carry more than 5kg of liquor, perfume n chocolate walk around to shopping eating..n boarding I need to walk around 15min to my gate from duty free area..
yea...the difference is shocking
Plus jewel is just a part of the whole Changi Airport complex
I went there in 2017. It’s good. The car rentals were nearby which was good but otherwise, the airport was something like a bus station.

Uptin, you did a great job with the presentation. 👍🏿.
Amazing!! It's Gardens by the Bay and Orchard Road roll into one
"ION Changi × Gardens by the Airport = 💎."
Im not kidding this blew my mind away
Not bad a description!
I just went there yesterday; and yea, although I just have a very short time in there but I had to say Wow when I entered that place, an amazing architecture!! Even they have the trees in the highest level, too. That's so awsome!! Amazing Airport.
A million thanks to Mr Moshe Safde. He's the architect of Marina Bay Sands.3 buildings with a ship and a pool at the top.And now the Jewel of Changi Airport a forest with a laser fountain. He's a freakin genius and intelligent.Should give him best Architect and Infrastructure Awards.🇸🇬👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
yes, He is Amazing, he also he also designed Marina Bay Sands
I knew that the futuristic life was coming but I didn’t realise it would arrive so quickly
🥳
Meanwhile airport in my country looks like a matchbox with 2 floors 😭
THERE'S A SHAKE SHACK IN SINGAPORE?! WHAT THE im officially jealous 😫

Yep. I saw it myself.
Visited the Jewel last weekend before heading to Manila. It was magnificent!!!
Yes, my partner and I decided to stay two nights in Singapore to explore the gardens by the bay as well as Jewel and the Changi airport instead of just a regular layover on our way to Japan in October.
