    This makes you realise how fragile the world is, and how much collective effort is required to keep things running as well as they do. The fact we function this well is just a miracle.

    • @missasyan

      Alienation of labour.... It sucks that everyone could just do this and help out equally but the profit goes to the businessman. This collective effort is not out of the goodness of their hearts, but because there is no other choice. I haven't flown Singaporean airlines yet (because they think they're the best in SEA and so I'm sticking with my home country) but maybe when tickets to Singapore are cheaper it'll be nice

      @@missasyan Sorry but youve got it completely backwards. Every step of the way in the hierarchy is people who are doing exactly the maximum that they’re willing to do for the money they’re given. To assume that everyone at the bottom is underpaid and everyone above the bottom is overpaid is ridiculous and there’s no reason to assume this.
      “Their collective effort isn’t out of the goodness of their own heart [you mean for free], but because they have no other choice [yes because man must earn his living, as he has done since Adam was cursed to toil the land metaphorically speaking]”
      To incentivise a huge amount of people to coordinate themselves in the way shown in this video is a miracle. Did it ever occur to you that different roles require different financial incentives to voluntarily take on? The fact you see this miracle and whine that they’re not willing to do it for free or that the guys in the positions that require the most unique levels of competence aren’t willing to work for the same price as the omelette makers is pathological.

      Singapore airline food isn't that good. Critiques like Mark Wiens has stated the airline nasi lemak isn't that great. Even the actual nasi lemak in hawker centers can cost up to $8 which is very expensive. Getting cheap and tasty food in Singapore is never easy. So I'm not sure where you are getting your information from.

    • @zarine1958
      @zarine1958 Год назад +23

      @@FutaCatto2 I'm Singaporean. I don't know where you are eating in Singapore but there's plenty of tasty nasi lemak for less than $8 a packet or plate. Don't compare airline food with local food. Airline dishes are made to taste acceptable to many nationalities. Less spicy and less spices. Its like eating Asian food in western countries. Very few places will serve authentic recipes as they need to cater to local palates. It's tough to balance the demands.

    • @FutaCatto2
      @FutaCatto2 Год назад +3

      @@zarine1958 I'm a Singaporean, born in Singapore. If you don't know where I'm eating then you probably don't know your own country. Inflation here is very bad, its worse than Korea. A standard Nasi Lemak in a food court can cost up to $8. Restaurants sell them for over $10. I can compare airline food with local food because there is misinformation here in the video and I'm calling it out. Airline food isn't as good as what's being portrayed and told in the video. The only good thing about our food in general is the cleanliness.
      Also there isn't a need to put "less spices" in an airline food. There is barely any santan in the rice. It's basically eating plain rice with processed omelets, a piece of fried chicken and sambal that is overly sweet. There isn't anymore "authentic" nasi lemak stalls left in Singapore due to the high rent. Our pasar malam during Hari Raya can barely make it 1 week in 2023 and there's a documentary stating this problem. Hence the best place to get authentic Malay food is in Malaysia.

    I have a lot of respect for the incredible operation that Singapore Airlines has put in place to serve up to 50,000 in-flight meals every day. It's amazing to see how they can prepare so many delicious meals with such precision and consistency. One of the most impressive things about their operation is how they are able to customize the meals for passengers depending on their destination, cabin class, and even personal preferences. It's clear that they put a lot of thought and care into their menu development process, which can take up to a year to create just one dish.
    I also appreciate the attention to detail and food safety protocols that the chefs follow. The air shower to remove contaminants, the cooking process that leaves the food partially cooked to ensure it doesn't overcook in the air, and the use of temperature probes to ensure that the food reaches the right temperature all show the level of care they take in making sure their passengers are served safe and delicious meals.
    Overall, I'm impressed with the amount of effort and resources that Singapore Airlines and their catering partner, SATS, put into their in-flight meal operation. It's no wonder why they have such a good reputation for their food on board!

Tons of ingredients for thousands of meals per day :D For me assembling the tray and putting them in the cart were the hardest! What about you cannot catch up with the line tempo?
      I'm a programmer - obviously Completely different type of job on the other spectrum with different responsibilities and challenges, but I cannot imagine how someone can sit for HOURS on a nonstop line!
      How you can take this?

      @@vasiovasio Yes one shift 8 hrs. We normally have some brakes between orders + normal lunch break. If you need to go to the toilet you need to change out of your uniform first and redress when you wanna enter again. They have several kitchens and zone. Storage, prep kitchen, Hot/Cold kitchen, Bakery. Mine divided Kosher, Halal/Non-Halal zones as well. After food trays were put into the carts you store them in walk-in cold room before trucks came to pick them up to load into aircrafts. I used to work in airline catering for some time. Normally after foods were cooked they need to be cooled down rapidly in blast chiller before we assembled them. After we finished assembled and put them in carts, we put the carts in walk-in cold room waiting for the trucks to pick them up to airplanes. If the flight is severely delayed (i.e. over 24hrs) or cancelled, people who manage logistic might swap those foods for other flight in line so we dont need to discard them.

    • @ploytatchi

      Normally there are one or more airline catering facilities around the major airports. One catering company can produce meals for many different airlines. For example my company based in Bangkok and we produced foods for Emirates, Qatar, Swiss, Hongkong, Japan and local airlines. We do load meals for multiple flights on single airplane if it is a short flight and/or the destination city does not have airline catering kitchen to load new meals on the way back.

    Can confirm that singapore airlines meals are pretty good. I liked the breakfast meals especially when I flew with them a few times in the past month

    As a caterer to the private jets in the UK, this is amazing. We do the same but with a smaller number of team members.

    I been so many times up there in a plane, eating and having patience for the long hours trip, but never thinking how this food is made and how much work is involved to do it. Thank you, I have a delicious meal, the service in the plane was superb, the flight enjoyable even it was for hours. I will be back !!!
