my favourite D&D scare tale was someone's grandma wanted to oversee the kids playing it to see for herself how evil it is. After about an hour she just angrily shouts "THIS IS JUST MATH!" and storms out
Growing up my Dad worked with a guy that thought like this. He invited our family over to dinner. His kids told my brother and I that the Power Rangers were a tool of the Devil. We ran and told our parents and my Dad laughed so hard that we were asked to leave. We laughed all the way home. Thats the night we learned what brainwashing was.
@@Kryptongurl84 I can’t remember what it was but my dad and a bunch of other kids and their parents had some lunch thing. Suddenly a guy comes out and brings up how dinosaurs aren’t real and my dad (a geologist and dino lover) contained his laughter as best he could before he picked me up and we left. In the parking lot he let all his laughter out and of course I joined in. Then we went home and watched Jurassic Park for the millionth time 😂
My buddy's grandma was a tool too, she said Pokémon was the devil so I gave him all my Japanese cards and when she said no Pokémon I said oh this isn't Pokémon see, these are just pocket monsters.

My mom was a librarian at an elementary school, as well as a very devout Christian, and she had moms coming in complaining about Harry Potter books in the library. She told me about it with a hard eye roll and said, “These people don’t know the difference between fantasy and non-fiction.” Everyone loves my mom.
I don't want to slander your mom but if she was a devout Christian then she herself don't know the difference between fantasy and non-fiction either... Just saying 😐🤷🏻♂️...
I grew up (80's & 90's) within a family where my father ruled: no tv, no music unless Christian & from church, no books unless Bible, no friends unless from church, no sports/activities unless from church, no hairstyles/makeup or pants (am a girl), no toys unless very basic (no magic/powers), women were created to SERVE men (guess he preferred that word over 'compliment',the actual word used in the bible). So pretty much EVERYTHING was the devil. But beating & abusing your wife & kids every day (breaking vacuums & dishes over kids heads, as an example) is totally fine. Screaming profanity & berating your family, abusing them physically, mentally, & emotionally? Totally fine... evil comes in many forms & often hides behind religion.
LOVE how Dane and Ken are more respectful, caring and compassionate with Christianity in this video than most Christians with their own kids during critical periods of their development...
My friends were raised Christian by her grandparent's, they didn't teach her about puberty or anything, didn't let the attend the schools education classes for it and she got her first cycle. She called me up, panicking, and I thought she had put her arm through a window and didn't want her grandparents to know so I ran over with my first aid kit thinking I was wrapping up her arm or hand. She had her monthly, so I put her in the shower and told her to clean herself up, washed her clothes, and showed her how to use a pad.
There's a big difference between mocking Christianity and mocking con artists using Christianity to further their con, this is definitely the latter so it's fine.
Is it? By saying the Bible is wrong and contradicting is just blasphemy. Your book is wrong and your God is wrong. Seems like mocking of Christianity, I’d love to you to explain it away
It’s true, Christianity started from three- six cults, of one them confirmed to be ISIS, god or Yahweh is literally a derivative of “sun god” from other religions , the first ever scripture found (Dead Sea scrolls) say things like “mushroom god” wich just means early Christianity ws probably a mushroom eating group who “saw gods gifts” so they basically were just tripping all the time
@defaced1694 that the bible has contradictions is just normal observation. And nowhere in de vid did they say your god is wrong. Are you lying and falsely accusing people? Hope you're not Christian because the bible has an opinion about that.
My parents threw away all my Pokémon room decor, toys, sheets, and cards in the trash in the 90s and I’m still traumatized. Knowing my parents now I suspect they bought us all that stuff and ripped and burned it infront of our child faces as if we were at fault just to get off on it… some parents are just straight up sick.
Considering Pokémon was created in '96 ... I'm gonna assume it was probably actually in the 2000's, but, trauma is trauma and the timeline doesn't *really* matter here.
yo my parents did the same thing! They even threw away my pikachu plushie that my grand-grandma gave to me when I was a baby. It was the only memory I had of her. I never forgave them for this and I don't think I ever will. And it has been more than 20 years!

As someone who also grew up in the church in the same state, this is so refreshing. I've had to reevaluate a lot of what I "learned" because most of it is told not taught. What to believe, what this or that means, how you're supposed to interpret it. Hearing ken voice that same mindset feels validating. This is why yall are the greatest youtubers OF ALL TIME!!
Growing up my mom didn’t let us watch Lord of the Rings. She said because it was demonic, but later I found out she thought it was boring and didn’t wanted to sit through it 😂
“So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” Genesis 2:21-24 NIV Eve was never a man, she was created from the rib of man and was her own creation hence why she was given a different name, woman. It’s a representation of the deep connection we have as human beings and an even greater spiritual connection we have as married man and wife. I don’t believe this is like the mentioned female Smurf story at all and shouldn’t be perverted with a transgendered agenda. (Also I don’t believe everything mentioned in this video is “demonic” but simply felt compelled to share what scripture says in regards to the creation of Eve)
Being religious doesn't make you perfect, what a stupid comment to make honestly. The whole point is realizing how flawed you are and trying to do and be better.
I second this. I used to volunteer in the children's book section at my local library. A mother dropped her kid off (despite the "Do not leave children unattended" sign). When she came to pick him up she started yelling at me for letting him read through a book that apparently he wasn't allowed to. Like I'm supposed to know which kids books are banned in her house
I remember my father would drag me to church - a lady there sat me down to talk to me about how my Jigglypuff backpack was evil. I was like 10 🤣. Some people are wild.
@@rcherry762 That's so ridiculous. I'm sorry you and @whitneykaye had to deal with finger-waggers in church as kids (as many still do). Someone told me the tiny dragon charm on my necklace was evil. My grandpa had recently passed, and he was born in the year of the dragon, so it reminded me of him. My grandpa was a pastor and I was a pastor's wife. 😂😂 Like, our accessories won't convert us to hate our religion, folks... People are more likely to cause that.
I always felt like church's just did this to sensationalize Christianity by using pop culture to get more people to go to their church. A year or 2 ago, my dad told me our church was going after yoga now. 🙄
Oh my gosh and people thinking body modifications or clothing is the Devil. I remember being at youth group in middle school and the head lady who would lead our activities would go on tirades saying that Stranger Things, skulls or Halloween T shirts, or games like Magic the Gathering are all evil or are channeling the devil. It’s just weird to demonize kids enjoying something! Like ANY sort of slightly interesting story including magic, mythical creatures, or GOD FORBID rainbows or a gay couple are all “the devil”!!!! Literally all of us in that youth group just wanted to hang out, play in the Xbox, eat snacks, play 6 Square in the youth house backyard, and do community outreach and get time after school to interact with each other. And unsurprisingly, a good amount of kids in that youth group were going anti-conservative or had-queer sexual/gender identity. Soemthing about being in a private school really brings out the need to express yourself or excitement with your identity, huh, it’s like being oppressed makes you want to express yourself even more!
Too many “Christians” who have miserable lives spend too much time worrying about what happens to them after they die… and getting into everyone else’s business about it. *MYOB MAGA*
I love what you're preaching ken. I grew up in a pentecostal household. My dad was the youth teacher. I fought his teachings so much, they put me in charge of the nursery. Now, I don't want kids or any part of the church.
I understand. My Dad was baptist and thought everything was evil . He wasn’t a good provider and we were raised in abject poverty. Me and my 3 siblings were hot in the summer, cold in the winter, didn’t have the clothes we needed, we were t hungry all the time, we didn’t have proper running water. After my mom left him he used the church as a bargaining tool saying we couldn’t visit her unless we.went to church first. He only made me resent the church.
I’m sorry you both are left with negative feelings about the church (and children) from your experiences. I was raised Catholic but not very strictly or under pressure and by the time I was a teen and having soccer games on Sundays we had mostly fallen away other than half hearted attempts on Christmas and Easter. I was largely the same in how I raised my own children and now I regret not having had a more religious upbringing or making it a more central part of my own children’s lives. Interestingly I may have a second chance because my teen and twenty something children seem to want to delve deeper into Christianity. I hope you both don’t judge the perfection of Christ by the behavior of fallen and imperfect men, and give yourselves and Jesus a second chance. I also hope you find a way to forgive your father’s for their faults and recognize that it is possible they were well aware that they were not perfect and in spite of or because of those faults and failures were trying to share something good but maybe in the wrong way. Trust me, if you aren’t a parent, you can’t understand how much patents who love their children beat themselves up for the things they think they screwed up.
Regarding Christmas, the date was also mixed to coincide relatively close to the Roman Festival of Saturn, which focused on getting hammered, having gay sex, and exchanging gifts
Yep. Early Christians put their holidays near Pagans ones and co-oped a lot of their traditions to make converting easier. It's why we have Christmas trees, trees was huge for the Druids, especially in winter ritual. And it was the Germans that spread the Christmas tree to the rest of the world. The biggest spread happened with Prince Albert married Queen Victoria and took his German Christmas Tree to England. It was then featured everywhere because if Queen Victoria was doing it everyone wanted to.
Even though it was stolen from a Mesopotamian Flood myth.. The global flood myth was everywhere in the ancient world, from india, China, and Mesopotamia.
@rionthemagnificent2971 What do you mean by "stolen?" There are a couple events that are interpreted differently by different regions. That's like saying the Incas stole the idea of pyramids.

So, my parents took me out of church when I was young because the pastor of our community was kicking out people because of either sexual orientation or race. Knowledge of the judgmental churches I grew up around has marked me. It played a great role in the development of anxiety disorders that have affected me for the past two decades.
Raised pentecostal, and regularly had my comic book and heavy metal music stash burned. I'm in my 40s now and clear of it, but I will always be that same angry child inside for it.
The worst part about all of this, Is the guilt I had to live with on a daily basis thinking I did something wrong just because I enjoyed a certain game or show.
I was raised in the early 2000s and was a teen in the 2010s. My family was SUPER conservative and sheltered, really only getting their outside info from Facebook. One of the weirdest things they banned was planking (the meme). They literally thought it was "saluting the Devil because you're looking towards him" (aka just putting your face on the ground. Super weird, even 11-year-old me thought it was insane. Not religious anymore but that memory really stuck to me.
Growing up I wasn’t allowed to watch Harry Potter, and my cousins weren’t allowed to watch pokemon… as adults my aunt said she just thought the TV show was annoying to listen to, and my mom thought we got made fun of enough without dressing like wizards so, sometimes they lie and blame Jesus.
Nahhh Low key I think its our parents not wanting to blame it on the fact they didnt actually put any effort into researching this shit for themselves and just went along with whatever their church gossip were talking about. My parents did the same thing with pokemon. I tell them to this day what they said to me about becuase, as a kid, you remember that kind of stuff. The fear mongering, etc. But they hit back with "oh we just didn't know anything about it and so we didn't let you kids watch it" Yeah right!
I grew up going to Catholic church in the 90s... My step-dad was very religious and didn't want me watching Buffy, but my mom basically told him to let me be. We did go to church every Sunday when I was younger, but my mom never stopped me from watching, listening, or reading anything... I mean as long as it was appropriate for my age. I also used to play Magic the gathering with my cousin and his frined, both of which grew up JW, but while my aunt didn’t care if he played Magic (My uncle was not in the JW church), his friend had to hide his cards... and then his mom found them and threw them all out. We were all so sad for him, he had a nice collection.
dude metal concerts are so fun and most were safe, when I got in the mosh pit as a 5'3 girl they looked out for me lol if I tripped I got yanked back up. Metal heads were pretty chill and some of em were Christian
@@UdonNerdle Yessss! Before I went to my first concert with a mosh pit my cousin who’s 5’3 let me know to be cautious but that as 5’2 girl I’d be watched. I’ve been yanked back a few times and I’m super thankful! Also- your username is amazing 😂
At a show, one of my friends brought his coworkers, twin brother and sister, to see Melt Banana. I noticed some dude (about 6'4" and looking around 230-45 lbs.) get angry at the sister (around 5'4" and rather thin). From what she said he copped a feel and she got into a shoving match with that dude. I looked around for my friends and her brother, then looked back at them as soon as she gave him a straight jab to his chin and knocked him out! Homeboy was throwing up gang signs on his way to the floor! He should've just minded his manners. One of the greatest shows I've ever been to!
And most metal enjoyers are some of the actually sweetest, calmest people you will ever meet. A lot of people use metal as their “aggression outlet”, all the imagery is to express creativity and escape from the real world, it’s not necessarily to glorify death and destruction. Religious people just see others enjoying themselves with their hobbies or activities and think it’s ok to demonize soemthing as simple as a concert…
This video makes me greatly appreciative of my late Mum and how she loved it when we found Pokemon or Harry Potter. She thought they were cool. In fact she was the one who bought Sorcerer's Stone for me, said it seemed like an interesting book and that i should read it. She bought us Gameboys and Pokemon sheets and figures and videos....life is SO much easier when you ENJOY it and not cause unnecessary fear in people.
ngl, the condemnation from the old days made me get way more into "Devil" stuff, lol. The claims that they made were very enticing. "Having telepathic powers is satanic". im like "ohhhh is it now? so its real? i want it!"
Grew up in Christianity. I could play whatever I wanted and the ouija board was a no as well. I won't even let my own children play with that mess. Thank God I grew up in a loving Catholic household, and my parents let us play all the Pokémon, and read and watch all the Harry Potter books and films, as long as we were doing well in school and wasn’t spending all our time on it. I even went to a Catholic middle school, and you could read and earn points for reading Harry Potter the same as the other books.

they are like that because they love you enough that they don't want you to parish. they want you to be raptured and be saved. they don't want you to be left behind and face Gods judgement or be thrown in the lake of fire. not that many people have that kind of love you are blessed to have family members who love you that much. some families are just evil and don't care about you and will do horrible things to their own kids.

In a video about wildly dubious information, y'all added so many actual facts! This was crazy informative! 😂😘 I'm so glad you went through all the good hidden Disney stuff and got it all right! Hardly missed any; certainly got the big ones. There's one thing in the Lion King that I noticed as a kid and still haven't heard anyone else mention it since. It's not scandalous at all, more an error/oversight. When Mufasa is hanging onto the side of the cliff, he yells, "Scar! Brother!" But if you listen closely, you can hear someone whisper "brother" before he says it (and after he says Scar), as if they're feeding him the line. But that's weird because it's animated, so he should have a script right in front of him and not need someone to remind him of the line. Idk. But it's definitely in there! Sorry it's not more exciting, lol.
9:26 Fun fact: rainbow bright just got green lit for a reboot tv series and a movie so it will be interesting to see how modern animators change it up.
My 19 year old “aunt” (a really sweet young woman who lived with my uncle at the time) gave 6 year old me D&D. I remember seeing my mother taking it, thinking I didn’t know. "9 months added to his death is somewhere in December, and those heathens also have a holiday in December, so instead of compete, we'll steal it to convert some of them to our religion" is more like it.
Which is just wild because no one knows when Mary conceived. The description of the fields and shepherds puts it more in autumn but if we were supposed to celebrate his birthday, the Bible would tell us when it is. Also, his death and resurrection are flat out told to us. Nisan 14 is on the first full moon after the spring equinox, according to the Jewish calendar. Because that date is actually spelled out, and we're told to continue doing the last supper that night, it kinda seems like it's more important in the Bible than a birthday we weren't told the date for. People are wild.
I always heard we celebrate Christmas in December because that is when Yule was. Christmas just took over the winter solstice celebration that was already being celebrated
Christiams did not steal anything in this instance. There were several mass conversions of large cultures. Jarls made political decisions and ordered conversion, this lead to mass adoption and mixing of traditions. Things like the Kristni Saga document these happenings. Over time laws were passed to ban local or non Christian celebrations. This caused people to adapt and disguise activities like Krampuslauf, divorcing direct meanings and changing names to match saints. It was wide spread across Europe and that's why there is so much overlap and mixing of ideas. This is the same idea that Halloween is stolen, when Halloween is the reinterpretation of all saints eve/day. Samhain and Yule do not have formal dates traditionally and depending on local custom are not confined to one days celebration.
I'm more surprised the fact that they randomly just created a fiction character name Santa that has nothing to do with Jesus Birthday but also the fact that you can rearrange the letters to Satan which is pretty ironic lmao.
As a Christian, I no longer go to a church. I don't have anything against them, and the one I grew up in had a wonderful Reverend who wanted us to think about everything. Especially the Bible. To him, questioning and analyzing things to find the underlying values was far more important than blindly obeying the surface. My single mother was divorced, and no one in our church ever treated any of us any differently. The congregation I grew up in was accepting and loving. As I got older, I saw less need for me to physically go to a church to practice faith and now I don't, but that had nothing to do with the people I grew up around. So many people don't realize that so many Christians look at the extreme groups and don't want them either. The Bible was written, compiled, voted on and edited multiple times by man. To assume it is infallible is ignorance of it's own history, and the nature of human kind. I very much appreciate that Ken and Dane don't blanket all Christians the same, whether they personally believe or not. I'm very glad (and lucky) I didn't grow up surrounded by people who banned Pokémon and Harry Potter or other things, or who thought sexuality, race or sex determined your value and right to life. I'm truly sorry anyone had to grow up with that kind of blind prejudice - however it manifested.
When my boyfriend was a kid he collected Pokemon cards and came home one day to his mom burning them in the backyard. "IT STANDS FOR POCKET MONSTERS" totally not traumatic at all
I’m so thankful that my Catholic parents were understanding and trusted my sister and I to know the difference between fantasy and reality. I was allowed to enjoy Pokemon and other stuff.
Same. Thank God I was allowed to have a happy childhood while also being raised as Christian. I remember negative stories about Harry Potter (I even considered them to be true since I was still a child at the time), but my parents were normal. Me and my sister even plaid in Christian band and we all still loved Harry Potter and other stuff. (The only time I have/had to explain my mom something is classic horror stories like Dracula etc., I like reading those. She has generally something against horror, I don't know what, maybe it's her anxiety. I usually keep reminding her that there's a lot of Christianity in it or something else positive/morally educating (I like well written horror stories no matter on religion) and she calms down.)
Well I’m a very strong Catholic, a very devout Catholic. I’ve been raised in a pretty Catholic household and have gone to Catholic private schools my whole life. My parents never had a problem with a show or movie being anti-Catholic however I did have Catholic friends that do. I’ve always thought regarding SpongeBob, Harry Potter, Starwars, or even the Smurfs as anti-Catholic was kinda absurd… Like I said, I’m a really devout Catholic but not everything in the Bible should be taken literally… That’s what my Catholic teachers have taught me all my life and my parents aswell. I do disagree when you said the Bible contradicts itself… it doesn’t, there’s multiple types of writing in the Bible from historical context to poems, which I think a lot of people don’t realize including these Religious extremists. Anyways, I enjoy your content. Please keep it up! God bless you all.
I remember my uncle, who is super religious and would start bible studies at family functions, and he gave me a bunch of Pokémon merchandise for Christmas and my brother Dragonball Z merchandise…
0:12 Shoutout to my mom, still a Christian, who allowed me to play Pokemon games bc she thought the creatures were cute and I was having fun But if my grades slipped, she would take it away. She's fair like that
I went to church when I was 11-13 and this was when Wizards of Waverly Place was super popular and still airing. I had another girl there tell me she wasn't allowed to watch WoWP or That's So Raven because of the "witchcraft".
4:49 actually Lord of the Rings supposedly has some Christian connotations! I grew up going to Catholic school and I remember watching one of the movies in religion class (I have no idea how it related it was years ago so my old brain has since erased the memories)
Tolkien wrote LOTR based on old myths and stories from northern and western Europe. He figured that little snippets of stories were left, but we know nothing about the people before Christianity came on the scene. Tolkien threw every little snippet of stories in one big pot and wrote LOTR out of it. There is a lot of Christian lore/stories in there as well. Down the line one could talk for hours about how multiple religions share endless similarities and/or symbolism. there's pre Christian stuff that got integrated into Christianity. And there are Christian rituals or mindsets that just disappeared over time, or integrated into other religions again etc. LOTR is not so much about Christianity by itself. It's about a world and time long passed and almost forgotten. (:
@@miew8204he also put things in there from his experiences in WWI. He was close with the author of the Narnia books, which heavily carried Christian themes. Having those in a fantasy book back then makes sense because LotR really was a massive influence on generations of writers from then on, something that Tolkien obviously had to create from other influences. All writing uses inspiration. I say this as a writer and editor for other authors.
Reminds me of the day I told my dad I was playing dnd. Felt like I was telling him I had committed a crime, was in the car and said. "Dad, I have some to tell you.. I play dnd" I kid you not this man gives out a sigh and asks why I would do that. It was surreal, the brainwashing is insane!
I was in a different situation. My old man was a god-fearing Catholic but had no problem playing MtG with me (including the original art Unholy Strength). The thing he feared more than god, however, was communism! I wasn’t allowed to watch Sesame Street as a child because it was a PBS program and that made it socialist. Hence his nickname for it - Socialist Street.
The crucifixion to Christians is based on the cycles of the full moon, that’s why Easter is on a different day (or month) every year. *Make it make sense ‘cause it sure sounds like some witchcraft to me…!*
So Smurfette was created, but she was "ugly" and had "black hair". She was sent to lure the smurfs to their doom. Papa Smurf changed her to the side of good, better looking and blonde.
I’m a Christian and knew many Christians and Catholics that played Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon, and Harry Potter. It’s so dumb that so many evangelicals called it the devil. 💀 So dumb.
My retired husband is still mad about not being allowed to play Little League because they played on Sundays. I must've missed the Smurfs are zombies warning.
I grew up in a Christian family and went to a Christian elementary school. I got in trouble for bringing pokemon cards to school... That my parents bought for me. Thank god my parents were more progressive y'know?

11:56 (Pushes up glasses) Um actually Ken I bet I could open the Bible to any chapter and disprove you! (Grabs Bible, randomly flips to Mathew 21:12) it says here.... um.... ... Nevermind, great video!
I was JUST telling my grandma about how the christian school I went to made me take all my Pokemon supplies home because it was considered black magic. lol
I remember growing up i was in Catholic school when South Park came out and we were told not to watch it and this and that and my mom used to follow what they said until she watched enough of it to see for herself where she realized it wasn't necessarily about causing outrage (although at times it was like that) and let me watch it and told me if there is anything I had questions about in an episode (she also started watching with me) to ask her about it. Now looking back it gave me a greater appreciation of her for not judging something until she did her research.
Lord of the Rings would probably have been acceptable, as Tolkien was a Christian (or possibly Catholic, I can't remember). At least, that's why Tolkien was allowed in my house. My Dad read the Hobbit & LotR to us. Still one of my favourite books.
Care Bears were "evil," too. The Care Bear Stare or whatever it was they did to summon their powers was something that apparently warped the minds of children my age. 🙄
5:49 Nah, having different accounts of the same event doesn't make that what happens In the bible contradict itself by default. If you read it on a surface level then sure, it really appears that way. I can level with you there. However, all the supposed contradictions have solid explanations behind why it's presented in different ways. The Bible is in harmony with itself. Growing up as a kid in a Christian household I was told Halloween was the Devil's birthday and so my grandmother wouldn't let me dress up and go trick or treating 😭
My family linked Halloween to Mexicans celebrating The Day Of The Dead except my family believes they actually celebrate dying over there so Halloween has always been a nope for them and I just can't get the truth into their heads.

lol I love how ultimately Elsa had to learn the lesson that she needed to find a balance with her powers. Completely restricting and bottling them up was not possible and going completely bonkers and covering her home in snow was also not the answer. She had to embrace her powers and ultimately love herself to put her world in order. Such a powerful allegory for finding a way to embrace the things you may not like about yourself or things that make you different in general. This guy took a single line from an entire movie, no context and no analytical thinking involved, what weird manipulative thing to do.
As a Christian raised similarly, still a devoted non-conforming Christian (who believes a relationship with God is important above all else), one thing I've never understood is avoiding these things and people who like them. From my understanding, Jesus ran with gangsters, killers, thieves, etc... As a Christian, isn't it my job to travel to the valley, walk thru the darkness in the lords light, sharing it with others? If pokemon is the devil, wouldn't it be more Christian to get I involved in the card game to get closer to others and share Jesus? If these things are truely as bad as they claim then why would we not hammer in practical and critical thinking skills? Trust in God to provide and protect, don't avoid and ignore. Obviously, it doesn't work or Pokemon and Harry Potter would've failed decades ago. I can understand not wanting your kids to make a wizard their whole personality as kids do, again critical thinking skills and conversations. It's almost as if Christian logic is, what you associate with is what you are. I dont think Jesus would approve of that way of thinking
@@theshadowphilosopher9901 I was raised in a Catholic household and went to Catholic schools until college. My parents loved and nurtured my interests like Pokemon and Harry Potter. The idea of not letting your child explore different things is such a foreign concept to me. I don’t really have a label for what I believe as an adult, but I feel that there’s value in most things and to avoid things altogether isn’t helpful. You never know what you can learn from something you’re not quite sure of. 💜
Historians also chose the date of Christmas based on the pagan holiday that took place at the same time in winter. This made it easier to convert pagans to Christianity more easily, since they were already used to celebrating at that time of year.
I was raised Jewish and it blew my mind that pastors and Priests and whatever church leaders just pick whatever reading they want to do for that week to fit the talking points they want to sermonize about. The entire Jewish calendar for the year revolves around the Torah portions of the week so you can figure out if you were to have your bar or bat mitzvah any week months or even years in advance, you would be able to know what your portion would be . Part of Rosh Hashanah is scrolling the Torah back to the beginning and that's why it's the new year... so like the rabbi always has to find a way to connect any week's Torah portion or a holiday or whatever to some kind of interesting or important talking point, not the other way around. Some of the most popular weeks of the year that parents choose to have their kids bar or bat mitzvah occur during the portions that talk about leprosy 😂😂😂. Anyways, we also didn't really have to worry about anything being "the devil". In Judaism, when you see the term "Satan" (sah-tahn) it's translated as "the adversary" because to us those situations are meant to be allegorical. The literal devil wasn't sitting there plotting how to turn Job away from the lord, it was somebody arguing that if these bad things happened, surely he would lose faith. My friend, who was part of a devout Christian family, wasn't allowed to watch anything violent and apparently her parents included Sailor Moon in that which I thought was insane because I watched it all the time and there was almost no violence whatsoever because they would Dodge attacks and then when they fought it was with powers.... anyways we would sneak it and change the channel before her parents could see😂. But they didn't really ban like fantasy stuff like Witchcraft and all that cuz I think they also just understood that fantasy is fantasy.
Your scripture readings sound a lot like how the Catholic church schedules scripture readings. The priest has to figure out how to say a homily that fits the scheduled readings, and parishioners who attend weekly will hear the great majority of the Bible over the course of a 3-year cycle. Satan is the tendency within us that tempts and then leads us to violate God's commandments. ANYTHING can be "satanic" if you allow it to consume so much of your time and attention that you no longer attend to the things of God. It's the separation from God that makes it bad.

With that Smurfette theory, you could say the same thing about Adam and Eve.
“So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
Genesis 2:21-24 NIV
Eve was never a man, she was created from the rib of man and was her own creation hence why she was given a different name, woman.

As a christian i want to thank you guys, i can watch your videos knowing that even if we dont agree yall still respect us which cant be said much these days so thank you for that! I'm so glad you went through all the good hidden Disney stuff and got it all right!

"9 months added to his death is somewhere in December, and those heathens also have a holiday in December, so instead of compete, we'll steal it to convert some of them to our religion"
is more like it.

God bless you all.

well it does take a lot of inspiration from pagan religions and christianity is just stolen pagan beliefs with a different paint job 🤷🏼♀️

Nah, having different accounts of the same event doesn't make that what happens In the bible contradict itself by default. If you read it on a surface level then sure, it really appears that way. I can level with you there.
However, all the supposed contradictions have solid explanations behind why it's presented in different ways. The Bible is in harmony with itself.
Unfortunately it's easily misunderstood because it's pretty complicated In some places, while it's very simple in others.
But all it's actually doing is providing different insights and expressions that one writer may have not provided. It's like pieces of a puzzle you need to put together.
It's not that they don't fit, chances are you're placing the pieces in such a way that you're not getting the intended picture.

Not growing up around many people of the Jewish faith or being taught about it, I didn't know those things. Thank you for the summary. 🙂
Smurfs arent the devil but those figurines are definitely the devil😂😂 WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE THAT
