    1. Stop what you're doing, take a rest
    2. Take a break from whatever you can take a brake from
    3. Say no to more work
    4. Take care of yourself
    5. Re-evaluate. You can look up how when you took step 1-4.
    In case you are too stressed to watch all of this. Please do this.

    These are good suggestions if you are too busy and have a hard time prioritizing but has nothing to do with burn out. True burn out requires more than saying no and taking a day off of work. Recovery from real burn out can take years to heal from.

    • @rashmika9742
      @rashmika9742 6 лет назад +5

      Alethea Siemers exactly. And when you're in medical school for example, you can't say no to more work if you want to get through. You've got to study the modules, do your work experience and not have a life until you graduate.

      Yes, real burnout is very much like PTSD, it is a physical disorder not mental. Thinking about the final outcomes you want in your life, more than tasks themselves, can help prioritize your goals for personal and health.

      Indeed - I think the term burnout is grossly overused and more of a buzz word. Truly recovering from burnout can take a very long time, unfortunately...

    • @JoyfulLivingLinda
      @JoyfulLivingLinda 5 лет назад +8

      Exactly. I always feel a bit sad when RUclipsrs talk about burn out and it isn't real burn out. Real burn out really takes years to get back from. I am suffering from the real burn out and been on sick leave for a year and nowhere near well.
      This is more a way to prevent a burn out before you get really burnout. Because this is not really burnout, it's the stages before burnout, at least how it's defined in Sweden.

    • @sheilavskidz
      @sheilavskidz 4 года назад +2

      Alethea Siemers, i agree with you. Just the thought of having a two-week break but will go back to the same work after that makes me throw up and sick.

    As soon as you said 'one day' you lost me. Burnout is much more serious than a suggested cure of 1 day.

      I absolutely agree with you - I've been treating people with serious burnout for over 6 years now and it definitely takes a little longer, even with the help of a skilled therapist... I am glad though that not everyone has to experience a real burnout. Don't wish it to anyone!

      It seemed reasonable for me because in my case it's because of university, and I don't really have the luxury to take a break for a long time or anything but I was still like wow how can others just relax for a day because of a burnout that's not enough

    • @amandabrown7043

    I am a psychotherapist and I will tell you in complete burn out, you are looking at up to a year downtime. An intense focus on vitamin therapy--some by IV is needed as well as nutrient rich meals, and lab monitoring. You will likely spend 12-15 hours a day sleeping. All these forms she is talking about printing out--the brain fog would be too much--looking at all the forms. Career fatigue and job stress are more appropriate for this video. They used to call total burnout a "complete nervous breakdown". When people are young they typically haven't observed the way burnout just levels a person--nor how the older adult might respond.

    What helped me was my health team.
    I went to the doctor an she recomended a therapist and seeing those two regularly actually changed my mindset which I couldn't do by myself. I had destructive thoughts and wasn't confident about myself and had a lot of guilt because I never felt like I was doing enough, while actually I was working my ass off. So please find a health team who hold you accountable for your own health. Instead of starting of moving on very quickly, they actually made me recover much longer and it was much more valuable.

    Ive had serious burnout for 4 years now, kept blaming it on other stuff until it got too serious body showing major signs of distress sending me to emergency. Acknowledged it 10 months ago and started recovery. I feel about 40-50% healed, still sleep properly only 1-2 nights a week(still making progress even with little sleep) and i sleep as much as possible. Dont have a job, avoid all stress except the gym and im very careful not to overdo it there. Still stuck on couch about 50% of the time now which is great improvment. Mostly on liquid diet but eating about 1 solid meal a day now as i lost my appetite. Still feeling empty, dull, gray, times of depression, anxiety, shallow breathing, paranoia, cramps, flushing, very low self esteem, EASILY 30 other things i could list. i have hope and glad i took action now just waiting game. Body takes so much time to heal

    This is so me. I have been beating myself up for being so ineffective and I've also been feeling like a failure lately. I wouldn't have thought of my situation at "burnt out"... but seems pretty obvious now... I think it's a little of that mixed with lack of direction and topped with a dollop of decision fatigue.
    Like I have so many ideas but not sure which way to go. And also feeling massive pressure to make giant leaps forward (sales) ASAP because our finances need a cash injection STAT.
    Thanks for sharing your experience. I've really been missing your YT videos, but I totally understand and I'm so glad you put this in the "Later" box and not the "Stop" box.

      You HIT the NAIL on the HEAD! I am SO blessed to be doing what I love for a living...but, I don't know when to say "enough"! I find it helpful to DIG deep as to "why" I'm working myself to death. Is it something deeper? For me it was sitting with my feelings from childhood, PTSD often presents itself as "workaholic" to cope with feelings, or NOT cope with feelings. Either way...if you are dealing with burnout, call it what it is and STOP! Great advice Megan🤗

    You have no idea what you are talking about. If this is what it took to 'recover' then at most you were suffering from chronic stress. Burnout is way beyond that. Your description of burnout doesnt do any justice to people who are actually suffering from burnout with a proper diagnosis. This is nothing but a sales talk to promote your own website, chanel and get people subscribed to your news letter. Shame on you and do your homework!

  • @liliansharin
    @liliansharin 4 года назад +1

    You can't just "realize" oh I have a burnout. It takes a long time to get burnout. "Take a break" ????? LOL!!! People who have a real burnout can't even work at all, can't even listen to anything, no sounds at all, even looking at something can be too exhausted. I have been there!!! They can only lie down,on their beds and watch the ceiling.
    Don't use the diagnose burnout when you were just tired or stress out. It's so NOT the same. "Taking a break to "heal" from burnout is a joke. When you really have a burnout, most of all you're in a situation that caused the burnout that cannot be changed with "taking a break" to recover. It can take years before your brain and body are really burned out. The recovery of really having a burnout, which is not what you've been through, can take years. You don't recover from a burnout by taking a break for a week. You better really do some research before you put information on the internet that isn't true. Your advice is not bad, it's just the wrong advice for someone who is really burned out.
