There is no reason why a soundrecording through a soundpanel should be bad quality. Microphones and soundtransmission don´t have the same problems as videorecorders.
Dave's clean footwork and crazy tight snare (not to mention punk and thrash-inspired musical contributions) are why "Vitalogy" and "Vs" are by far their most energetic and dare I say it, funky albums. He steals the show here.
100%. He's the most Dave Grohl of the PJ drummers I think. Really comes up with interesting patterns that are almost melodies that perfectly fit what's going on. And he does it HARD with almost a metal sensibility.
Ben is a 1972 horror movie about a boy that befriends the leader of a group of killer rats. Michael Jackson wrote a song for the movie .. Ben, the two of us need look no more is the opening line to that song.
I love the Orpheum! I have seen Slayer/Deftones/Misfits/Megadeth and tons of others there. It's one of the greatest places for a live show. The floor is a few steps down from the bar area. You can get right to the front or join the 100 mph chaos in the pit just behind you. What an amazing place.
@@beatakeshii it's the same thing in this scenario either way. they're both filming the band performing. you think people in the 90s didnt complain about people coming in to the audience with handheld cameras, same way you are right now?
@@atlassolid5946 It´s not the same. One thing is a couple of guys with a handycam and something very different is most of the audience with cel phones recording the show.
It still kills me inside. Especially how and why they got rid of him. They produced their best and highest selling material with him. He even drummed them to number 1 in the American Billboard. He was so easy going, consistently amazing and comfortable. He's usually popping a huge grin while performing and the chemistry was very apparent. It's sad when it becomes NOT about the music anymore and petty personal BS.
He added something incredibly special to the music with his drumming, it still resonates with me the same way it did back in high school in the early 90's.. he was a fucking great drummer for Pearl Jam, easily the best period for the band
@@yuneappel8867 I may have been under the wrong impression but it's a rock band not a political party...bring happy and comfortable about his situation was his crime and Judge Eddy had him exiled

God i remember saying that Dave A was a killer and that i liked MFC in Soundgarden but not as much in PJ. Couldn't figure out why... guess over the many years I've just gotten used to Matt. But to hear Dave A slap this song like it's his bitch.... prefect.
@SoberFoe37 I'm sorry, but Yield, while totally different, is every bit the album of anything else they've done. It's the cleanest, most interesting song writing, and I would say the best written lyrics.
@KennethKaniffFromCT man, i have to correct myself. in fact the audio here is better than the boot ive got from that show. i mistaken it with the fox theater one, that one the audio is really good... the audio of my orpheum is probably audience too. but i dont think they released the re issue yet.
Ive heard two different reasons why: One was he posed on the cover of a drum mag after they agreed not to appear without the full band and the other was that he liked George bush sr. and was from Texas. My guess is that the band couldn't handle the cymballiness. It was just too cymbally for them - cymbalistic and full of cymbalism quite cymbly
Sorry my speech-to-text put pigs and Zen it's pigs in Zen my bad it's off of Jane's Addiction album nothing's shocking great great Masterpiece a must-have
FOR me, dumb is to think Cameron is better in PJ than Dave... thts tipically wrong idea that "true pj fans" kinda punch in their minds to make them feel better about themselves. He wont ever have this grooving like in this song. listen to State of love... cameron makes it look like pop music. And unfortunaly for Ed, daves grooving and creativity brought PJ where they were in late 94. They say PJ evolved? For me, Backspacer is like Wallmart shit Album. Long live the real ol'PJ...

@SoberFoe37 tend to agree with you on not paying for the same album...but you're so far off on there only being two albums. Vitalogy and No Code are equals to Ten and VS. They've evolved since then. And in reality this is a live band anyway. Gotta be there in the moment at the show is what I'm trying to say.
I don't know why so many people love this version. Eddie's throat was obviously pretty dry during this performance because he had a lot of trouble hitting the high notes, especially in the 2nd chorus his voice sounds all strangled
The main reason why I love this version of Rats is for the rare solo by Stone, starting around 1:45. It's funny to see the camera operator pan over to Mike, see that it's not him soloing, and (assumedly) surprised that it's *not* Mike, but *Stone* doing the solo. Classic.
These were Eddie's prime screaming years. All I can think when I hear him is what kind of damage he's doing to his voice. I know singers' voices aren't as good in their later years, but I wonder how his voice today would be if not for all the screaming.
@trimbie2 You might think Vitology and No Code are equally as good. I don't, and album sales will never match the numbers ten and Vs. put up. Every song on Ten and Vs. was good. Vitology has heyfoxymophandlemama. Not good. A wasted track that fans had to buy. Vitology will never be as good because of that one track. Everything changed on No Code. Totally different band. Saw them live in mid '90's twice, saw em twice in 2000's. No comparison.
Dave A. drumming really gave to pearl jam something to love and something we all miss.
The sound is amazing for a live recording done in 94!
