    Thanks for putting this together! Can you give any details on the belts (size, where to get them, etc)?

    • @prodigalsonapparel
      @prodigalsonapparel  2 года назад

      The belt size you have to measure once you get your pulley set. I use the original belt to go down to the pulley reducer I installed. Once that was tight you can wrap a string or shoelace or something around the other pulley and go back to your servo motor and wrap that pulley (as if the string is a belt). Make a mark on the string, or in my case I tied the string tight from both pulleys, tied a knot, then cut it, measured it, and that is your length.

      @@prodigalsonapparel Great video, very informative. I'm going with the same set-up but just ordered my machine. I'd like to have all of the parts here when it gets here, what size belt did you end up with for your reducer to motor belt?

    • @prodigalsonapparel
      @prodigalsonapparel  2 года назад

      @@terrymccomic4446 Sorry about the delayed answer. Its been so long since I ordered the belt I had trouble finding it. But just checked and its 25". Yours might end up being slightly different depending on your install. I used the original belt to go down to the new pulley reducer. I had to mount it on 1" uni-strut in order to do so (like in the video). Then once that is tight take a string or shoelace and wrap around the remaining pulley to your servo wheel. Tie it as tight as possible, then cut it, stretch it out and measure. That's your length.

    If you have this model of brushed servo motor, do a little test. Without the belt on, at any speed, grab the motor output pulley. You can stop it with your hand. These brushed servos have no torque to begin with.

    Hi sean. I just found your channel. Thanks for posting these video's they are very helpful. My wife and I are kind of just starting out screen printing and doing our own hats. If you dont mind me asking, How do you get the image pressed into the leather?

    • @prodigalsonapparel
      @prodigalsonapparel  2 года назад

      So I buy some veg-tan leather about 5oz thick (shoulder cut) from a local supplier or Tandy Leather.
      I have my image CNCd into a brass stamped from www.leatherstampmaker.com/ but you can probably find local or even ETSY brass stamp makers for cheaper. I like supporting local if I can. Cost me about $100 for the stamp but once that is made you can stamp thousands of patches for cheap. I did the math once and figured each patch cost me about .50 cents from the leather cowhide after the cost of the stamp. You'll also need a steel rule die made (basically a cookie cutter) which I got from Etsy to cut out your patch. I then use a Harbor Freight 1-Ton press to press the stamp into the leather and also cut my stamps. I don't have a video yet of the stamping but you can find a bunch on RUclips. Basically you wet the top of the leather with a sponge a couple of times to soften. Then use the press to stamp & imprint the leather. Once stamped then cut out the stamp with the press and your steel rule die. Here's a short video of that process ruclips.net/video/oU_9-wVpPUg/видео.html . This guy here has some good videos...ruclips.net/video/vqCYOCPD-58/видео.html

    • @prodigalsonapparel

      @@jmaqin Seems like a separate issue. Maybe things got bumped or moved around a little during the pulley install. I would double check my thread path, the direction of your needle, and also check the tension on your bobbin thread. If you have loops on the underside of the material then generally the lower tension needs to be increased. Just grab the lower thread and pull on it a little. If you have little to no resistance then re-tension (tighten) the lower thread bobbin tension.

    Hi Sean. Those screws in the spring nuts-are they drilled all the way into the desk? I’m just trying to understand how you’ve got everything stabilized there so the speed reducer doesn’t go flying backwards when you’re running the motor.

    • @prodigalsonapparel
      @prodigalsonapparel  Год назад

      Well the U channel (strut) is screwed directly to the desk. The motor is then secured to the spring nuts attached to the strut. The motor does not screw into the desk. Just the spring nuts. This video might help... ruclips.net/video/cC432V53yhY/видео.html

    Why did you get a smaller pulley?

    • @prodigalsonapparel
      @prodigalsonapparel  2 года назад

      To reduce the speed and increase torque even more. By installing the reducing pulley and also putting a smaller pulley wheel on the servo motor, that wheel on the motor now has to rotate more times to get the needle to move which = slower speed, more torque.

    • @prodigalsonapparel

      Hi there. You might have to create more pressure on the roller foot. That roller foot has to push down on the material hard enough so the walking foot can catch the material to move it. On the top left of your machine above the head and roller foot, there is a threaded screw that sticks out above the machine. Start tightening that until you have more pressure on your material.
