    I love this video because it shows how photography really goes sometimes. Things just don't go how you planned and you don't quite get the shots you wanted, it happens. Took me longer than it should to learn you aren't always going to walk up and nail the shot, keep working. Thanks for the video!

      It's the truth! Not always easy, especially with cars we're so limited to the rules of the road and limited access to locations. But when you get that right shot... oh is it worth it! Thanks for watching!

    I have to say I can really appreciate the fact that you posted your “fail” sometimes that is just as good or better to learn from. I think it helps the amateur photographer troubleshoot why they may be having problems. I would like to see you do a nighttime shoot with a “plain” vehicle that you can park wherever you want to help the guy with the camera take a good picture of his friends beat up 1986 Camaro.

    Everyone else replied a year ago, I feel so dumb, but I'm so glad you share in the obstacles of nightime shooting. I often go without a helper/observer, so my main tactic is to be fast and make sure I'm in a location that provides me with good visibility to see if anyone is approaching. Regarless, I'm usually on edge with all the camera gear and typically a desirable car. Thanks for admitting this was a "fail" (even though it proably wasn't) as so many others make it seem like there are never issues at these shoots.

    For lightpainting you need something like 30sec exposure and a lightbar/flashlight and a really dark place to shoot. Shoot with bulb and run around with your light. Go give it a try they look awesom.

    Tail lights: 40% mist, 20% allure, 40% just cpl, and switch mist and allure ratio for the ambient lights, seems like it'd create something cool.
    Great shots though man! Night time photography always feels like a fail when you get home lol I find a tripod and multiple exposures both with the car lights on and off, artificial light hitting at least 2 angles an absolute must with night time car photography...been failing for years ,😂 failing less these days

    • @TheCarCreative
      @TheCarCreative  3 года назад

      Hey Levii, I can definitely recommend the CPL filter for any time. The ProMist filters I feel thrive more in darker scenarios that have light sources you can really "bloom" - I'd also suggest getting one that has a little less intensity, this one I was sent is a bit to strong for my taste but you can get a real vibe for what it does which is cool! I've got the Canon R6, using the adapter with my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (very similar lens). But when I close the shutter down below 2.0, I get a VERY visible ring around the outside of my images, that gets clearer and closer as I dial down toward 1.4. Any idea what that is or how to avoid it? Or is this lens just not truly compatible with the EF-RF adapter?

    • @TheCarCreative
      @TheCarCreative  2 года назад

      Is the 30mm meant for crop sensor cameras? If that’s the case it would definitely give you the ring on the outside. To fix it in video mode at least you could turn on 2 times active stabilization and that might work. Then you’re using about a 50mm though.

  • @sandspyder
    @sandspyder 2 года назад

    Question: I notice you upped the ISO to bring in more light. But what if you kept ISO super low and just changed shutter speed to about 1/3 or 1/4?

    • @TheCarCreative
      @TheCarCreative  2 года назад +2

      You certainly could do that, but I often shoot hand held and not on a tripod, at that shutter speed I’d be risking not having a sharp image. Very valid point though!

    Dont you miss Sony Low light quality?

      I do... I definitely do! I think the Canon R6 would have been a better option even for the low light stuff because of the sensor but hey, I'm glad to know now that the R5 struggles a bit in low light, not awful, but not great like the sony's.

      @@TheCarCreative r5 is amazing but kind overpriced. I would go for the sony a7s iii or R iv. But great photos and tips!!
