- How to Fix Network Discovery or LAN Sharing In Windows 10/8/7 [Tutorial]
Network Discovery in the Windows operating system is a network setting, using which you can set whether other computers on the network can see your Windows 10/8/7 computer or whether your computer can find other computers and devices on the network. If Network Discovery is enabled, sharing files and printers over a network becomes easier.
If you remember, when you first connected to any network on your Windows PC, you would have been asked if it was a Private, Public or a Domain base network.
When you open This PC and click on Network in the left pane, none of your networked devices may show up. This tutorial tells you how to fix network devices discovery problem in Windows 10.
If you are using a standalone PC you may want to disable Network Discovery as you will have no use for it. You can turn off Network Discovery using Settings in Windows 10, or via the Control Panel or Command Prompt ins Windows 10/8/7. Let us see how to do it.

You are my hero tonight! Seriously, there are not enough thumbs up on the internet for you right now. I spent the last ~3 - 4 hours bashing my brain trying to get network file sharing to work between my laptop and my work station. I would like to share large files back and forth between them without having to use large USB drives. I was told I could do this via networked file sharing.
I enabled network discovery on both machines in the Advanced sharing settings. Both computers on are the same network (my home WIFI). I also enabled nearby sharing and Share across devices on the Shared Experiences page.
Despite this, no matter how many times I refresh the network tab in the file explorer, the devices would not show up. Then I followed the steps in your video, opened up the services ap, turned Functional Discovery Resource Publication to automatic, and also did the same for UPnP and SSDP discovery.
OMG! It worked. Spent a whole trying everything mentioned on the internet but none work EXCEPT for THIS! Thanks so much
