Cormier found himself in that difficult territory where he was too big to make 205 without struggling and smaller than most top heavyweights. In one division he was always depleted and in the other he was almost always fighting guys bigger than himself. He could do it because he's exceptional, but if he'd been made a little smaller or a little bigger he'd likely have crushed that division even more than he did. He's the modern day Randy Couture though Couture made 205 much more comfortably through a strict diet. Those really high level wrestlers and their ability to beat fighters who're bigger than themselves really is something.
@@EmirAssassin And the really big guys can be almost 300 going into camp. Lesnar always has to shed about 20-40lbs to get down to 265 and he's not even huge for the division. It's such a giant span from 205 to Lesnar and I think his fight with Couture gave people a good look at how silly it looks.
Modern Day Randy Couture? DC was a double champ while simultaneously competing at 2 different weight classes. His only losses are against Jones, and Stipe who are both fighters that can make a legitimate top 5 goat conversation. Even if you were to only take account for his heavyweight success his resume is still way better than Couture’s.

He dominated some legends in the ring and destroyed others. I can't imagine just how good he was if he started doing MMA even ten years earlier than he started. Not to mention he's got a great personality and seems pretty humble.
Cormier picked up Rumble Johnson, carried him around like a child and slammed him. A 200+ pound man that only minutes earlier launched him of the canvas with a punch. Cormier was something else man.

Hendo was literally running away scared.
At that time, they had just banned Drs prescription Testosterone therapy and Hendo had been on T for 2-3 years and he quit cold turkey a few weeks before the fight. Hendo showed up like 7 pounds below the weight limit with the testosterone levels of a 12 year old girl and it showed.

@@shaheena.3803 thats the crazy thing is that Hendo was a phenomenal wrestler himself. And an Olympian himself if I'm not mistaken. Just goes to show how much of a beast Cormier is. And also Hendo kind of strayed away from his wrestling roots when he was fighting
Those really high level wrestlers and their ability to beat fighters who're bigger than themselves really is something.
the max weight difference between LHW and HW being 60 pounds is ridiculous, imo HW should be capped at 235
@@EmirAssassin And the really big guys can be almost 300 going into camp.
Lesnar always has to shed about 20-40lbs to get down to 265 and he's not even huge for the division.
It's such a giant span from 205 to Lesnar and I think his fight with Couture gave people a good look at how silly it looks.
@@EmoEmu in an ideal world there should be a Super HW division for 235-265 but I highly doubt that will ever happen in the UFC

Modern Day Randy Couture? DC was a double champ while simultaneously competing at 2 different weight classes.
