  • Guitars (especially acoustic guitars), have all sorts of angles and tapers that make them hard to clamp in a standard bench vise. In this video, I review the WoodRiver Patternmaker's Carving Vise from ‪@WoodcraftSupply‬ and demonstrate how you can use the vise to clamp an acoustic guitar while scraping the binding.

I love my old Workmate that I got 30+ years ago. And I got the same pattern makers vise last year and it makes certain tasks so easy. Great video.

My Workmate is probably of the same vintage! Sad to see how far the Black and Decker brand has fallen.
      Thanks for watching!

You sir are spoiled!!! Fancy benches, fancy tools and such. I still work on Walmart plastic folding tables. 🤣🤣 Nice score. If you are working on softer woods on acoustics may I suggest some foam padding for across that jaw bar under your work. That way if the piece does shift or slide down there is less chance for damage.

Ha! That’s one way to put it 😂
You’re absolutely right, with acoustics I’ll still need a bit more protection. I might even see if I can make something a bit more permanent.

@borgonianevolution9164 Unsure! Can’t be too thick…maybe I’ll use some of that tubing like they put on hand saws to cover the teeth and remove it when necessary

A good video to see where how all the parts go together (along with some handy workbench tips) is ruclips.net/video/Mnzi8mSd59E/видео.html
