Enjoyed the report from Sheppy's Orchard Wassail. The dancing took me back to my junior school country dancing lessons, Beech Grove School, Wellington ❤

I have heard of Wassail on local radio recently so this was a great video Jesse showing what's involved. Terrific stuff! Thank you for sharing this 😊

Thanks Paul, I hadn't heard of them until I saw it on Facebook and then funnily enough on the day I went I heard they were discussing it on Radio Bristol. Definitely something a bit different to do on a winter's afternoon :)

Really interesting video Jesse! I am going to go to my first ever Wassail on Friday evening probably. This gave me a good idea of what to expect!

Hello Jesse, For me as an Austrian, the video about this Wassail was very interesting and entertaining to watch, but I didn't fully understand what this ceremony was about...is it about honoring nature or the abundance of fruit and vegetables will grow in the new year? Many greetings from Deutschfeistritz, Styria 🇦🇹, Christoph 😊🌳🍎🌿

I had an intro bit at the start originally but I didn't explain it very well so took it out again but you're very close - It's basically a ceremony to bless the apple trees to encourage them to bear fruit. Wassail is the name of the drink (a warmed apple juice or cider) traditionally drunk at the event.

Sounds very exciting and interesting, this idea of blessing the apple trees! Little fun fact, I'm very sure that my body wouldn't tolerate warmed apple juice or apple cider!
Have a nice evening, Jesse. 😀🌳🍎

Not quite sure what I'm watchin here Jessie lol... Iv never heard of this wassail.. Is it to welcome in spring?

It's a bit unusual lol, a Wassail is a ceremony to bless apple tress and encourage fresh growth for the year. They're normally charity events (this one was for raising money for the community garden) which involve morris dancing, singing and putting toast on apple tree branches (for the robins).
