  • Join me for a walk along the North Somerset Tidal Way between Portishead and Clevedon, we'll pass two lighthouses, an open air lido , hear a weird sound and finish at the most beautiful pier in England - Clevedon Pier.

Really enjoyed that Jesse! This walk has been on my list to do for a while, especially as Portishead was my home town. I definitely want to do it now having seen this video. I know what you mean about the walk taking longer than it should when you stop so often to do video clios and photos! 🤣

It's been on my list for a while too - I intended to walk it a few years ago from Clevedon only to find part of the path closed. So glad it's been re-opened again as part of the England Coast Path, all the signage is so fresh! 😁

Hi Jesse, thank you for this video 😊 Looks a great place to walk and plenty to see and sounds a relatively easy walk 🚶‍♂️ Not sure about the cyclists they should know better than to cycle on a footpath 😢

It was on a section of the path marked not for cyclists (probably because it was narrow) although I only spotted the sign on one side not from the way they were coming.
It's a largely gentle walk though does have a few manageable climbs 😃

I think the noise is one of the armed forces, probably training and firing munitions

Ho Jessie. We really enjoyed this video. This is a walk that we've been meaning to do for a long time but still haven't done yet. Thanks for showing what to expect on the walk. It looked very nice with lots to see. The gunfire must of come from a military range from South Wales perhaps. You were lucky to have had a calm day as usually it can be windy along that coastline. Did you walk to Clevedon & back again or did you just walk one way & get the bus back? We definitely will have to do this walk now. We were at Portishead marina last weekend & walked towards Portbury Dock as we hadn't walked that way before. There was an old battery with gun placements from WW2 but it was on private land & so we couldn't have a proper look. 😊

I did feel very lucky with the weather, there's some very narrow parts of the path which would have been a bit to quote the cyclist I saw say 'sketchy'.
I walked to Clevedon and got the X7 back to Bristol (after enjoying some warming chips!)
I think you're right about the gunfire, was kind of eerie as it kept ringing through the air pretty much until I got to Clevedon!
Portbury Dock sounds fascinating especially with the WW2 gun placements.
Highly recommend this walk, it's largely nice and gentle with only a few steeper climbs and declines.

Absolutely beautiful video, it was so lovely to see the winter sun shining on the cliff edges and bare trees, such a relaxing video, thank you Jesse 😊

Thanks Jilly, the sun was so warming and welcome approaching Clevedon. It was the perfect end to the walk 😃

    Hello Jesse,
Wow, this is a beautiful circular route along a picturesque coast and with these narrow passages there is even some action along the way! It was very interesting to see how these two lighthouses were on the way along and it is always very surprising to me as an Austrian to see how close to the sea many of the houses in your area around Bristol are built! A wonderfully atmospheric mood arose at the end of your walk when the sun came out beautifully again shortly before Clevedon!
Many Greetings from the Graz area (Markettown Deutschfeistritz), Styria, AUSTRIA 🇦🇹, Christoph 😊☀🏞👌🌅

I was surprised by how close some of the houses were - they must get great views though! I agree - it's a very picturesque coast and even nicer when it was calm - as it often gets very windy along this section.

I have to say, I'm Styrian 🇦🇹 and grew up with the mountains from a young age, but it's also nice to walk along the coast with the sea! It's definitely very calming and relaxing to be there and that's probably why some people built their houses as close to the sea as possible in Bristol surroundings or how do you see that, Jesse? 🙂

I imagine this is exactly why people live right on the sea 🥰

It's certainly nice to wake up every day with a view of the sea, but I would be concerned about the ever-rising sea levels due to climate change! 😬😊😉

I think on this stretch of coast they're quite high up so this would be less of an issue - more of an issue would be corrosion of the cliffs (which is partly what caused the path to close a few years ago).

Hi Good video... What day did you do this? I did the exact same walk on Saturday afternoon but left it to late and walked it back in the pitch dark was a bit dicey to say the least

Thank you so much! Snap - I did this walk on Saturday afternoon too - you're brave walking back in the dark, some parts are so narrow - I'd have been grabbing onto the side for dear life! I got to Clevedon at about 4.30pm just as the sun was disappearing and got the bus back from there.

@@JessesGrandDaysOut amazing.. I've just rewatched your video from the day at 2.44 my brother is walking in front of you and beyond him is me and my other brother in the distance waiting for him. Me and you started our walks at the same time but you beat me lol

When you posted your comment about the day we both walked the route I had a feeling I might have seen you. I overtook you pretty early - I think your brother had just caught up when I went around and headed towards the bridge. What a small world! 🙂
