  • Join me for a day at Avon Valley Railway for their 50th Anniversary. We saw steam trains, we rode the train, taking a brief look at all 3 platforms - Bitton Station, Oldland Common Halt and Avon Riverside Halt and even went on a behind the scenes yard tour.
Thank you to all the volunteers at Avon Valley Railway for being so helpful and friendly - even when I couldn't work out how to open the train door!
Planning a visit yourself, here's the website you need:

Good video. It was open on Wed 10th and I went then. Rain held off just enough. Looks like you got better weather. Thanks for showing. Regards Paul.

Thank you so much Paul, it's a lovely railway with trains running most weekends throughout the season and holidays.
I think I was lucky with the weather, the forecast couldn't make it's mind up on the day 🤣

I really enjoyed that Jessie! It was like being on the train myself! I have not been on that line yet, so it was really interesting to see it.
Fab that you got to do a yard tour at the end too!!

Thanks Louise, I did record the entire journey but figured during editing no-one would sit through it 🤣) It's my local line so I'm here so often but first time I've actually ridden the train here!

    Brilliant Jesse!
Sorry I have not had time to watch many other RUclipsrs recently as my Dad has been seriously ill and time has been limited.
As you know, along with the Severn Valley Railway, this little line is a real favourite of mine and not too far away from where I live either.
Lovely work here - really enjoyed this. Really great to see Glendower in action!
Hope all is good with you.
    Take care,
    Paul

I hope your Dad is getting better, read the other day he's out of hospital which sounds like good news?
I think you'd really like the yard tours here if you ever get to do them!

Great vlog Jessie. I was going to go there on Saturday as well but I was ill & spent the day in bed so it was nice to see what you had filmed. Nice to see the yard close-up as well. 😊😊

I Felt really lucky to be able to do the yard tours as they don't do them very often 😊

That was an excellent, and sunny, day out. I very much like the idea of a chocolate Sunday, that got my attention. Thanks for sharing your experiences of the trains & it was good to have a look around the yard.

Hello Jesse, A nice and interesting video of this historic Avon Valley railway line! The train combined with chocolate sounds very interesting and appealing! Do you happen to know what happened to the abandoned railway line areas and why they were closed?! Many Greetings from Styria 🇦🇹, Christoph 🧐👌🚂

Thanks Christoph, going way back the original lines were part of an intended line between Bristol and Bath. The lines here now were put in by the volunteers of Avon Valley Railway 50 years ago.

Thank you for your nice answer, Jesse. It's a shame that trains no longer run along the entire route, isn't it?! 🙂

It's a shame the route isn't longer but it's a nice cute little railway as it is 😁
