- First-time driver and need to practice before your big road test? Jump in the passenger seat with Jeremy as he shows you how to transform an empty parking lot into an essential training area to practice such crucial skills as petal and brake control, proper stops, depth perception, speed, and more. This episode will show parents how to practice with a beginner driver. Inexperienced drivers can benefit from these basic exercises in a parking lot.
In this video we work on turns, stopping at stop sigs, Depth Perception, pedal control, hand over hand, swerve control, braking, and speed control. These activities help with putting on a turn signal and when to slow down coming into a turn ad speeding up when coming out of a turn.
The idea behind practicing is that every minute of practice you get in a parking lot where it is free of obstacles provides a safe place to practice. Practicing over and over in a parking lot may seem boring but the repetition of working on brake control, lane control, swerve and recovery, depth perception, hand over hand techniques on the steering wheel provides excellent training for new drivers or beginners. This is the parent guide that assists parents in practicing with their new drivers. These techniques will help teach how to park a car in a parking space for beginners. These parking tips are easy to set up in the parking lot and it doesn't matter if a child hits the cones or not.

Thank you! 👍
Can you do a reverse parking how it be in the road test please
What size road cones should we use?
The driver’s ed school we used didn’t teach hand over hand. Made students shuffle wheel from bottom which is much harder to control. Wouldn’t practice parking with repetition either because it was “Too hot out and that’s not good for the car.”
We teach proper requirements as per PennDOT regulations so youre ready for your Exam.
it's so hard to find a parking lot empty like this in NYC with this size
Hey John, do you have any churches, malls, schools in the area that may have larger parking lots? That's typically what we look for when we need a larger area to practice in. I know NYC can definitely be a challenge to find a larger open area to practice in. Good luck and stay safe.
Heyyyy in Ga they don't require on the road test....hmmmm......
