    2:30 😮😮Very important. A coworker had her hands too high when the airbag went off. Months of physical therapy and she still does not have full use of her wrist. Company sent everyone to defensive driving and they stressed 8-4 position.

    • @946towguy2
      @946towguy2 Год назад

      8-4 provides a lack of control if you need to make a large turn of the wheel suddenly with one hand and thus makes it hard to avoid an accident. If you put your hands at 10-2 and do not place your thumbs inside the rim of the wheel, there will be no problem with the airbag in the rare chance it may deploy. Of course, if you are wearing your seat belt and have the seat and wheel adjusted properly, there is no need for a steering wheel airbag. NASCAR, Formula 1 and almost all other cars used in racing do not have airbags.

    Maybe it works for some people but personally it's better to learn from practice and feel rather than relying on reference points that will change from car to car and one situation to the next. Just carry out the best observations you can and move at the slowest speed. You can change the angle of the car a lot if you go really slow

    I'm definitely in camp backing in. Its easier (and safer) to leave the spot nose first. An easier way to do it is approach the spot as close as you can and when you're sitting directly in front of it turn the wheel hard until you're at a 45 degree angle to the spot, that way you actually see it in your side mirror. Even better if you have enough room to do it is to start turning earlier and just go until you're lined straight with the spot.

    That is what I did and now I drive and park where ever I want to. (My dad sometimes says "it's too tight for you to park there" and next thing you notice I'm in the parking slot. Practice makes perfect.

    4:45 . After experience I say this. If you are parking into perpendicular parking, I recommend only parking on your left. Use the same mirror rule (aka when your left mirror is lined up with the first line of the parking you want, fully turn and slowly move in). Since your car is on the right side of the road, you have more space to safely go into the parking spot without the risk of hitting the further most car. Additionally, you probably won't have to reverse and adjust. If you have to park on the right side, I would wait till traffic is clear, adjust your vehicle so your car is on the left side of the road, and then turn right into the parking spot using the mirror rule. After parking in parking garages and normal lots almost daily for university and work, I can say this confidently. It's never worth clipping your car or the pressure that comes with it. Be patient and safe. Hope this helps any new drivers or drivers who didn't really know this.

    I have just completed my driving classes but yet to master this skill of parallel parking. Here in India the classes were only for 12 days with 1 hour each day. May be I require some more time for this. But I just want to keep on driving. I am very much excited to drive and keen about when I will go driving again even though I practice every day. The most dreadful thing is when someone overtakes me and goes driving in front of me immediately requiring me to slow down a bit.

    Not sure there was something I hated to learn to do, but there was things I wasn't happy doing. And that was to start again, from a red light. Some road crosses are on a slightly tilted ground in Denmark. So I often were rolling backwards a bit before I got the car driving. I was so afraid of rolling back down in to the one behind me.
    I learned the parking box thing pretty well. And I make sure that I am never in too much of a hurry to straight the car up after a parking. Backing far enough out, to see the markings on the ground for the chosen spot out of my windshield

    Thanks for the explanation. I like the way you explained about parallel parking. However, my driving instructor does not follow this method. She just asks me to drive straight into the space we see. The reason being my instructor has been teaching me driving on a busy road since day 1 and yells too much because of small mistakes that actually harms my confidence. She should find a safe spot to teach driving. Secondly, she never explained me properly that when to speed up and press the brakes when taking right or left turns. I continued doing mistakes since 2 days and she has been yelling too much. When I asked her at the end of my class, then she explained that we must press the brake to go bit slow when turning to left or right and when at a junction, a slow speed must be applied as our car has stopped to watch out for cars coming from both ends. They must clear these things before a student starts driving and most important, a new student must be taught driving at a safe area, not in a busy area or else they will be scolded a lot for mistakes as it will become a matter of life. Its not the student's fault here.

    A great teacher. Thanks for the video, clearly stated and sounds easier to drive and park a car. I wish you could teach me in person. Haha i don’t know how to start.

    I kinda just go with 5 and 7 most of the time when cruising straight ahead as it is less tiring. When things get a little hard, then I use 3 and 9

    Thank you, BRIGHT SIDE. This is rather helpful. I'll keep this in mind when I do parking before my test. Although, I do have one question: why would anyone back in a parking space? It seems superfluous.

    you should be adjusting your side mirrors in your driving position (not leaning) and then set it so that you can just see a bit of the car and so high that it's about 1/2 road and 1/2 sky and trees

    Another great one. Not doubting you but, I have failed the test as well and have reread the book in my state. My state's book still says 10 and 2 o'clock when behind the wheel. Guess the writer doesn't have an airbag🤔.

    • @Minecraftmaster44
      @Minecraftmaster44 5 лет назад

      Actually, 9 and 3 gives you better position if the airbag pops out as it'll push your arms away. 10 and 2 will result in the airbag hitting your arms.

    • @joshuaquick5511
      @joshuaquick5511 5 лет назад

      Yeah, that's what I was implying when I said that. None of mine have driver side airbags but, have passenger side so I normally do either 10 and 2 or 9 and 3. Writer of our state's book must primarily drive older models like mine without airbag on driver side.
