  • @rith2757
    @rith2757 Год назад +10

    4:45 . After experience I say this. If you are parking into perpendicular parking, I recommend only parking on your left. Use the same mirror rule (aka when your left mirror is lined up with the first line of the parking you want, fully turn and slowly move in). Since your car is on the right side of the road, you have more space to safely go into the parking spot without the risk of hitting the further most car. Additionally, you probably won't have to reverse and adjust. If you have to park on the right side, I would wait till traffic is clear, adjust your vehicle so your car is on the left side of the road, and then turn right into the parking spot using the mirror rule. After parking in parking garages and normal lots almost daily for university and work, I can say this confidently. It's never worth clipping your car or the pressure that comes with it. Be patient and safe. Hope this helps any new drivers or drivers who didn't really know this.

  • @pokedude104
    @pokedude104 Год назад +1

    I'm definitely in camp backing in. Its easier (and safer) to leave the spot nose first. An easier way to do it is approach the spot as close as you can and when you're sitting directly in front of it turn the wheel hard until you're at a 45 degree angle to the spot, that way you actually see it in your side mirror. Even better if you have enough room to do it is to start turning earlier and just go until you're lined straight with the spot.

    That is what I did and now I drive and park where ever I want to. (My dad sometimes says "it's too tight for you to park there" and next thing you notice I'm in the parking slot. Practice makes perfect.

May be I require some more time for this. But I just want to keep on driving. I am very much excited to drive and keen about when I will go driving again even though I practice every day. The most dreadful thing is when someone overtakes me and goes driving in front of me immediately requiring me to slow down a bit.

    Not sure there was something I hated to learn to do, but there was things I wasn't happy doing. And that was to start again, from a red light. Some road crosses are on a slightly tilted ground in Denmark. So I often were rolling backwards a bit before I got the car driving. I was so afraid of rolling back down in to the one behind me.
    I learned the parking box thing pretty well. And I make sure that I am never in too much of a hurry to straight the car up after a parking. Backing far enough out, to see the markings on the ground for the chosen spot out of my windshield

    Years ago my sister, who was well developed in high school, took her driving test in a snug t-shirt.... she actually tapped the other car during her Test!
    It wasn't a full on 'Hit' to damage either car, the Guy from the DMV basically told her "Oops, don't do that' and Passed her with flying colors!
    (Face palm!)

    Always someone who thinks they know more the people who have driven for years - Who are your so-called "Pro-drivers"??? It is a proven fact that the most comfortable position to hold a steering wheel, and have full control of the wheel is at ten o'clock, and two o'clock - no myth; no secret; no anything!! And I have been driving for over fifty five years - including tractor-trailers!!!

    • @Aus.S7in

      Michael McGregor i thought people did 10-2 because the wheels were huge

    2:30 😮😮Very important. A coworker had her hands too high when the airbag went off. Months of physical therapy and she still does not have full use of her wrist. Company sent everyone to defensive driving and they stressed 8-4 position.

    • @946towguy2
      @946towguy2 Год назад

      8-4 provides a lack of control if you need to make a large turn of the wheel suddenly with one hand and thus makes it hard to avoid an accident. If you put your hands at 10-2 and do not place your thumbs inside the rim of the wheel, there will be no problem with the airbag in the rare chance it may deploy. Of course, if you are wearing your seat belt and have the seat and wheel adjusted properly, there is no need for a steering wheel airbag. NASCAR, Formula 1 and almost all other cars used in racing do not have airbags.

    Also don't wear a work ID badge around your neck when driving. The force of the air bag in the event of an accident can cause the badge to pierce organs!
