Paralell parking... That was by far the easiest thing to do back in driving school but when reality kicked in and I was with my own car and there were actual cars around... 😢
Another top: most cars even mine which is a 2005, let you adjust the steering wheel up and down! There’s usually a handle which allows you to move it underneath the steering wheel😊
Yikes, I really felt called out when you talked about people who drive miles just to avoid parallel parking 😂 Only learned it with a camera in my lessons so I'll definitely try this
To steer the car in reverse, turn the wheel in the direction you want the rear of the car to go. *Turning the wheel to the right steers the back of the car to the right. Turning the wheel to the left steers to the left.*
I've always loved the challenge of parallel parking! But it's really a skill that comes with experience. I never thought it was fair to insist kids doing their driving test should be required to know how to parellel park because it takes time to develop that skill.
It is fair though to expect that when you pass your driving test you know how to parrallel park (or park in any way actually) If you cant you shouldnt get your license. you clearly dont know the mechanics of a car yet.
Maybe it works for some people but personally it's better to learn from practice and feel rather than relying on reference points that will change from car to car and one situation to the next. Just carry out the best observations you can and move at the slowest speed. You can change the angle of the car a lot if you go really slow
Parallel Parking is way easier in my driving school since the space is enough for my car, but when I started driving and try parallel parking I always doubt myself lol
I just got my drivers license last week. Already accidentally cut someone off. I'm beyond terrified of driving in town, no idea how to calm my nerves enough to pay attention to everything around me
4:45 . After experience I say this. If you are parking into perpendicular parking, I recommend only parking on your left. Use the same mirror rule (aka when your left mirror is lined up with the first line of the parking you want, fully turn and slowly move in). Since your car is on the right side of the road, you have more space to safely go into the parking spot without the risk of hitting the further most car. Additionally, you probably won't have to reverse and adjust. If you have to park on the right side, I would wait till traffic is clear, adjust your vehicle so your car is on the left side of the road, and then turn right into the parking spot using the mirror rule. After parking in parking garages and normal lots almost daily for university and work, I can say this confidently. It's never worth clipping your car or the pressure that comes with it. Be patient and safe. Hope this helps any new drivers or drivers who didn't really know this.
I'm one of those that will drive a mile just to parallel park. I practiced it in my yard with my mom and dads cars. When I went to take my test I passed it with flying colors.
Best tip when parallel parking is to make use of your bumpers. Meaning, if you see a spot that needs a little "adjustment", then do it. You have bumpers for a reason
I'm definitely in camp backing in. Its easier (and safer) to leave the spot nose first. An easier way to do it is approach the spot as close as you can and when you're sitting directly in front of it turn the wheel hard until you're at a 45 degree angle to the spot, that way you actually see it in your side mirror. Even better if you have enough room to do it is to start turning earlier and just go until you're lined straight with the spot.
its always hard for me to park parallel thats why i always avoid parking this way. always nervous, but with this video, you made it so easy. thank you bright side. who is with me, comment down below.
Great tip want to learn how to park? Go to a park nearby preferable at night or morning when there aren't many poeple or cars around and practice parking into the slots untill you get the hang of it. That is what I did and now I drive and park where ever I want to. (My dad sometimes says "it's too tight for you to park there" and next thing you notice I'm in the parking slot. Practice makes perfect. I started driving at 16 now I'm 20 And I dont know how I eneded up here lol. Just remember practice and practice so you wont get stuck in reality.
@@emelycamilo8484 yeee. Well drive with someone that has experience just incase and at nights preferable and at the zone limit untill you get the hang of it. Just don't be scared

At 7:53 you said "turn the steering wheel left", but the wheel in the animation moved toward right. Jokes apart, awesome video for beginners, thumbs up!
you should be adjusting your side mirrors in your driving position (not leaning) and then set it so that you can just see a bit of the car and so high that it's about 1/2 road and 1/2 sky and trees
I have just completed my driving classes but yet to master this skill of parallel parking. Here in India the classes were only for 12 days with 1 hour each day. May be I require some more time for this. But I just want to keep on driving. I am very much excited to drive and keen about when I will go driving again even though I practice every day. The most dreadful thing is when someone overtakes me and goes driving in front of me immediately requiring me to slow down a bit.
Thanks a lot. Look at the car on our sides helps a lot to avoid crash in the back of the car, mostly in case of missing warning sensors. Thanks again to remind me how to "correctly" park the car in accordance to degree/angles.
I have only practiced driving on empty roads so far. I am terrified of having to drive around other people or cars because I'm scared to run someone over. I suppose I'll warm up to the idea eventually.
I had a friend tell me, "just focus on what you're doing and stay in your lane. Other drivers will do the same." Easier said than done I know, but for me that brought an ease of mind. Best of luck 🙏🏾
Before I had got my license I had bought a '78 Chevy Impala. It was a boat on wheels. When I had to go for my test I asked my sister if I would use her "Rabbit". I only did that because I knew I would never be able to pass the parallel parking part of it.
Not sure there was something I hated to learn to do, but there was things I wasn't happy doing. And that was to start again, from a red light. Some road crosses are on a slightly tilted ground in Denmark. So I often were rolling backwards a bit before I got the car driving. I was so afraid of rolling back down in to the one behind me. I learned the parking box thing pretty well. And I make sure that I am never in too much of a hurry to straight the car up after a parking. Backing far enough out, to see the markings on the ground for the chosen spot out of my windshield
I think I basically know everything but when I was still learning I should've payed more attention to parallel parking and asked the instructor that I do it more often cos we only did it like 2-3 times
