Enjoyed your discussion on 1911's. You have a collection of very nice pistols. I bought an Alchemy Prime a few years ago and have been nothing but pleased with it.
Hi guys. John Browning’s genius design. The 1911 is my all time favorite pistol. A 100 years plus field proven mechanism. Good man stopper in .45 ACP. Fits my hand like a glove (better with the original longer trigger but rounded mainspring housing). My competition gun is an unmodified Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec. It shoots better than I’m able to. I’m only a fair shooter. My personal taste for handguns and leather/canvas goods (and hats) embraces both Porter’s (first half of 20th century cowboy style - SAAs and lever guns) and Jake’s (first half of 20th century military and western civilian style - 1911s, 1917 SW HE and New Service Colt revolvers, Thompsons and BARs). God Bless. Happy Trails.
Got my first 1911 at a gunshow in Temple TX in 1994. It is a Colt with the matte stainless finish in .45. Paid 425 for it. I was originally looking for an AR-15, but no one had one. I also picked up a Ruger MK 1 Target pistol for 175. Next table over a guy had an 1873 Winchester deluxe model in .38-40 for 750. I wish l would've seen that first. I eventually bought a Colt AR-15 that year before the ban took place. Paid 750 in a private sale. Still have all three of those guns. In the 1911, l have loaded everything from the 155 swc to the 255 swc for the.45 Colt and had no problems.
I like Cylinder & Slide. I've thoroughly enjoyed learning what little I've been able to about these guns, and C&S has been a big help as well as Brownells. Great video!
I love this video. I must admit, however, that I had no idea that certain 1911s were so profoundly expensive. Anyway, you've got true passion which I admire. Beautiful guns too.
I have only one 1911 , made by remington ( R1) , one of the first in standard version . I have put over 5000 rounds through it with no issues. One of my favorite firearms. Thanks for the video .
Great video. What a sight it was seeing the 1911 in action, wide open prairie and big blue skies behind it. I too prefer a traditional look, yet my favorite is a Fusion Riptide-C. My secret is a passion for compact 1911's.
I had no idea there are this many custom builders of 1911’s out there. Given yeah the usual suspects, Les, Wilson, Nighthawk, and of course the production versions Colt, Kimber, Ruger, S&W, Springfield etc.. the polish job on that cylinder & slide is amazing, gorgeous. Can see your passion for the 1911. Cool, thanks for the video
!973. Colt Series70 Government...$150...Two weeks later Colt Series70 .22 Conversion Kit...Wilson Combat went all thru it in 1983....bang bag since then.
In 2021 I built a 1911 from raw parts A Frankenstein 1911 but nonetheless Parts from Stealth arms and Fusion firearms Went with a commander length (which I personally think is the best of both worlds) Chambered in 45 acp Once the built was completed and test firing was a success I sent it to one of my gun guys to have it cerakoted (slide is blued frame is stainless two-tone look) And lastly added bison bone grips with the double diamond pattern
good video jake i am a 1911 nut to carry a 5 in every day i have kimbers ,springfields, have had bad luck with them have 3 dan wessons no problems do my own gunsmithing to use wilson parts what parts manufacture do you have good luckwith nice collection
Mec-Gar makes great quality magazines. Many high end 1911 makers ship with Mec-Gar magazines included. I have had more problems with Wilson Combat magazines than with cheaper magazines. To each their own.
To be clear I've used literally hundreds of mec gar mags in other platforms such as hi powers, sig p226, p229, Walther ppk/pp series, Beretta 92's, Smith and Wesson model 59's etc. I've never had issues with their mags except in 1911s. I've bought a few mec gar 1911 mags and had some come with guns I've bought and have a few fail on me mine the one shown in the video that the feed lips spread. I've also had some that have worked great. They make good training mags. It has to be hard making a magazine for a platform that has been in production since 1911 by hundreds of manufacturers. My go to mags for 1911s are Colt 7rd mags, Chip McCormick and Wilson combat mags.
Yes it's certainly expensive. I sold a few guns and things to afford one... otherwise I certainly couldn't have bought one. I realize it's certainly not within everybody's means

The Cylinder & slide is beautiful
Really like your collection. I’m also a sucker for the classic ones and the overall clean classic look

John Browning really was a genius. He has had a huge impact on firearms design. Thanks for watching!

What you said at 12::27- 12:29 warms my heart.

I've owned a couple new Remington 1911R1 pistols and they are a great gun... especially for the money

Yes there are so many 1911 makers it's crazy! Thanks for watching

Favorite video to date. I’ve put a lot of rounds down range with 1911s but am interested in their history and quirks. Thanks!
Very nice video and very nice guns. 1911’s are my favorite
Like the 1911 45 caliber pistol.
Try the Ahrends double diamond grips, and Metalform 7 round mags with the rounded metal follower.
Enjoyed this one!

Very nice👍. You have some nice guns. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your day. 🇺🇲🌲🔥🔪

Nice 1911 collection . What do you think of the MUESOC 1911? It's got that classic look.
I'd love to have one of those! Really nice looking guns
We pretty much have the same taste.
good video jake i am a 1911 nut to carry a 5 in every day i have kimbers ,springfields, have had bad luck with them have 3 dan wessons no problems do my own gunsmithing to use wilson parts what parts manufacture do you have good luckwith nice collection
I use Wilson combat, cylinder and slide, and les Baer parts mostly. Thanks for watching
Good talk and as always, dig the hat! Stetson?
Thanks! The hat was actually made by Herbert Johnson.
@ didn’t think it was a Stetson but I wasn’t sure lol. A proper hat either way. You learned an old dog a few things as well lol
Why would you have a pistol of that quality and use Mec-Gar magazine?
Mec-Gar makes great quality magazines. Many high end 1911 makers ship with Mec-Gar magazines included. I have had more problems with Wilson Combat magazines than with cheaper magazines. To each their own.
I use chip McCormick mags

My go to mags for 1911s are Colt 7rd mags, Chip McCormick and Wilson combat mags.
@ I agree. You can’t beat Colt , Ed Brown, Chip McCormick or Wilson Combat.
Mec-Gar is only the OEM for Beretta, German Sig's etc. top notch mags! When Sig U.S. ditched Mec-Gar, they had nothing but trouble.
Yikes! $5K?! You talk about this gun like it's somehow affordable to the masses. I wouldn't call a $5K gun a "beater gun."
Yes it's certainly expensive. I sold a few guns and things to afford one... otherwise I certainly couldn't have bought one. I realize it's certainly not within everybody's means
Are there any cheap 1911s worth buying, I mean purely from a functional stand point?
Yeah tisas makes a good entry level gun, and Springfield's base model is also really good.
