This looks delicious, but I don’t think it would taste anything like spaghettios...
I tried eating Spaghettios once as an adult and couldnt even make it past the first bite. It was mushy noodles in a sauce that tasted like ketchup mixed with syrup.
Not to mention that metallic taste you just can't get out of your mouth.
I thought it was just me. Had to chuck the entire bowl out
its basically very thin, very sweet canned tomato soup with mushy pasta.
I make my own pasta sauce with San Marzano tomatoes, garnish it with real Parmigiano Reggiano, and serve it with fresh pasta. I still like Spaghettios.

What do you mean room temp? Did you not put it in the fridge? College students have microwaves, if you're nuking it to room temp you may as well go all the way even if it's a little rough on the beef.

lepidoptery Spaghetti-Os are canned, so they don’t need to be refrigerated until opened. I’m guessing they are saying that at 3AM they just want to crack open a can and grab a spoon/fork. Don’t want to wake the roommates from the microwave beeping.

I legit made this the day I saw the vid for the first time bc I was really curious to know how much better they'd be vs the canned stuff....and let me tell you this was truly AMAZING!!!!!!! The meatballs actually tasted like beef and the tomatoes tasted so bright and delish. Thank you Rick for sharing this great updated recipe with us!
That looks delicious, but there's something about the soupy nature and flavor of the original that I'd feel is missing here. I'd eat it, though.

Yeah, i woulda microplaned Parm into more al dente pasta retaining quite a bit of the starchy water with a big chunk of butter, emulsify, sauce.
As a POC who absolutely adores Bon Appetit, I lit up at the 10:30 mark.
That "reader it was me" note at 5:07 killed me.
When I was homeless I lived on cold spaghettiOs and doritos-I would dip out of the can. YUM!

Ended up using my meat fluffing forks to form the meatballs, with great results! This recipe is delicious- you have a new BA subscriber!
Those meatballs are great. I love how he scooped them uniformly but then rolled them by hand; the two fork mix technique is impressive. I'm going to start doing that. Great recipe.

When I was small my friend said her favourite food was SpaghettiOs, and I thought she just said spaghetti and so I said me too and her mum served us SpaghettiOs for lunch and I hate SpaghettiOs but I ate them anyway-or, at least, I tried to.

My wife is an amazing chef she cooks pasta to perfection and years ago I had gotten away from chef boy ardee and she bought me a can of ravioli for a quick lunch at work I've completely forgotten about my addiction for total crap pasta and then I come home and get to eat her amazing dishes

50 years ago I badgered my Mother into buying a can for me. They were awful. Spaghetti O's were never "as good as they used to be". I can't imagine how bad 50 years of cost cutting has made them.
