I have a same setup, on my 19 R. Factory catback fits fine into the car, I’ve brought it home after install. I have a non-res version or Remus and coded my valaves permanently open. I don’t find it loud at all with stock downpipe. Specially when exhaust piping is hot and up to temps, it quiets down significantly.
All i hear in the cabin is the soundaktor. I turned that off from new. Long before the exhaust upgrade. The outside shots sell your perspective. Thanks for the video.
Is the APR remote compatible with any valved exhaust that uses the stock actuators? I’m also looking at a Remus system and the lack of controller initially is a bummer, but if the APR remote works, I might just do that.
I can assure you this sounds way better than a resonator delete... and most of that is thanks to 3inch piping. This setup is already a non-res, and when the valves open it bypasses the muffler to get a great “non-buzzy” sound.
Not sure I understood your valve problem, so are you supposed to set the valves in Race mode (open) on the stock exhaust before moving it to the Remus? Would that have prevented the problem?
NewEngandPete, its not your problem its normal on facelift golfR im from slovakia, so europian spec car with remus exhaust, and same think on neutral both of flaps are open in race mode, after i accelerate left one close and above 3000-4000tousand rpm it opens, or when you hit full gas it opens also, its programed like that by VW to reduce drone , i read forums because i was suprised also but its normal like that nothing to be scared of.its just bothering me also because on remus setup you can see the valves so everybody behind you is able to see it opening and closing. the flaps setups them selves everytime you start the car, is there is problem with the flap its gonna show you on dash, so nothing to worry about :D
@@NewEnglandPete Dont know my is not doing that, but on my car if you set up race it opens valves (both) when im accelerating it closes the driver one and above 3000-4000 it opens , even when u push full acceleration it opens the left one also, but partial acceleration its closed on driver side only when i release gas it opes right up. so i think your is working fine
@@NewEnglandPete Or i have the same problem ? :D keep me updated if you figure out something but as i read its normal and my is doing same thing than yours so dont think its a problem :D
Normal facelift exhaust operation ...Comfort mode -only outer tips work through full range Normal mode- ...0-2900 outer tips only ..2900 outer left tip/both right side tips..3900 all valves full open Race mode -..start up valves open/idle...0-2900 left side outer tip only /right side both open ..3900 all open Try and time DSG changes at 4000..best pops/farts
I’m still confused man, seems like a facelifted R with DQ381 trans is capable of nice dsg farts but then when you have a DQ381 GTi (mk7.5) you hear no farts even with same setup. I can’t find the answer to this
Kill the Soundaktor! Even with a stock exhaust, I prefer to not have the Soundaktor on my GTI. At least your Remus exhaust is loud enough that you can still hear it over the Soundaktor. :)
@@NewEnglandPete Ridicolus! I have it for my MK7 GTI Clubsport. And theyr loud! Go check the VAGSport video on my channel on the 3 inch pipes! Oh and im waiting for my Cobra Sports Catback to arrive on top of that in in few weeks now... Will make a proper condenser mic recording later. But for now an exhaust mic will be recorded on Vagsport driving, then laters on full system. Maby sub to see the differance! 👍

Just to confirm you were able to fit the entire stock catback into your car? That’s my only worry, I don’t want to get rid of it haha

Reminds me a lot of how just the Neuspeed catback made my GTI MK6 sound so much better! 🤤
Get the APR remote, it will work and you will be able to open the flaps all the time so that the sound can be consistent
I will look into it!

Is there any drone or bassy echo on the back ( Like how resonator delete sounds like) ?
Can you list the entire setup with exhaust and resonator
Love the Remus Catback. I’m thinking of getting a GTI with one. Love the vids.
Worth it for sure! Thanks.
Did you get the race or sport version?
I got a resonator delete kit installed on my 19 S3, it sounds almost as loud and it costed around $170 🤗

Howard S You set the Remus valves to open.
can you open/close the valves from the original actuator via the vehicle onboard electronics?
Comfort mode closes valves? Sports opens them?
@@malaka0876 That's correct. Sport opens valves. Everything else closes it.
Sounds great! Go for stage 2 !!!

thanks for the comment! however, why do I hear the actuation sound and a little squeak from the driver valve when it opens? It is super bizarre.

Thanks for the video i hope it will sound nice on a 17 gti to

Are those the stock tail lights? I like the smoked black over the reverse lights.
Do you think it would be worth it for a 6spd?
Would be better if you turned the dumb fake engine noise off. Was the first thing I did with my obd11
Love your vids!!

on it!
I'm still kind of P'ed that we don't have cracks and pops that come stock with the car like the do literally everywhere else in the world.
Sounds nice,
but id go for APR, similar sound.. much cheaper
same price if you option the valved exhaust.
Where in NH are you? I live there too as does my mk7.5 R.... let’s go for a rip bro
Currently Durham! I’m down.

I don’t get DSG farts with the 7 speed :(
