I went with the single wall tips that came with the APR exhaust on my 7.5 GTI. Played around with some other options but the single wall tips just looked the best in my opinion. Mainly for the same reason you mentioned, they look noticeably larger.
I have been a fan of black, I would do black tips. My fav exhaust note is the milltek, but look forward to hearing more sounds from your car with the trackslag downpipe. Great vids!
I have the apr exhaust on my mk7 and I love it. It does sound great. The only issue I have is that the valves tend to rattle after some time. Not sure if yours will have that issue, but I've heard that it has been a common problem with these. Love your content btw and I just realized who you were on the EQT FB group when I posted about installing my Wagner intercooler and you commented
Great choice! I have a GTI, and went through 3 cat-backs before trying out the APR (no res, with stock DP). It's exactly what I was looking for- a little more sound, deeper tone, and basically no drone. I'm surprised the APR cat-back doesn't get more love. I'm using the black tips, mainly because I got rid of all the chrome I could on my car. The chrome ones it comes with do look good, too.
Great video, i had remus exchaust without resonator. It has drone around 3000 rpm. I really don't like drone on the highway. So I ordered resonator after which it fixed all drone things and lower the sound down a bit (like 30%).
huge fan of all your content! Super nice system, do you have any complaints with this set-up? I really enjoy the sound of mine being paired with their high-flow DP as well, but it leaks terribly, obnoxious fumes in the cabin. there are soot witness marks at every clamp. I'm running the black diamond tips and they're so easy to keep clean, lol
You mentioned you didn't use the extension pipe from the APR catback (goes in front of the resonator). Is that because the Trackslag downpipe is extended compared to the stock downpipe? I'm trying to piece together an exhaust using an IE downpipe and APR Midpipe. So, I'm not sure if I need that piece or not. Thanks.
Great vid. Been looking for an exhaust for my MK7 R. Appreciate the info. I see you have a Florida tag. What part of FL are you in? I’m in the Ocala area. Just wondering. If you don’t want to say, I definitely understand.
@@EVERYTHINGcpo Do you do much business with UroTuning in Tampa? I get to Tampa a few times a month with my job. Be nice to pick up parts instead of shipping them. Thanks for the info.
Strangely yes. I have. It’s strange actually. It reminds me of when I did a change like motor mounts or dogbone inserts where the NVH went up. Do you have an explanation for this?
@@EVERYTHINGcpo Sadly I do not have an explanation for this. The fiberglass packing in my muffler is coming out (faulty muffler I guess) so they are replacing the muffler section. They aren’t in stock so I decided to put my stock catback on while I wait. I couldn’t believe how much smoother my car felt. I am also running a trackslag catless downpipe.
@@EVERYTHINGcpo So just to clarify in comparison to even your awe catback you noticed more vibrations after swapping to APR? I did notice and was impressed with how rigid the APR catback is but maybe that’s what is causing the extra vibrations but cannot explain that as it still used factory hangers.
@@branman65 yes. I don’t recall more vibration with the awe, only sound. Noticed more vibration with the APR. Same. Factory hangers, and not touching anything.
@@EVERYTHINGcpo So I’m going to assume the APR muffler is what might be causing the vibration. Maybe the packing they use or just the overall design of the inside. Well i guess I’m glad I’m not alone at least with the vibrations. I was hoping it was due to the packing coming apart inside mine. Thanks for the quick responses. I really enjoy your videos BTW very clear and interesting to watch.
Which style of exhaust tips do you prefer?
I have silver--they turn black over time...I do like the black offering though. Go for black.

I'm blacked out so I'd go with the dark ones, but both look awesome. Great vid!
Great video very helpful!!! I’m prefer black tips 👍👍

Nice video - very helpful - What is the gap between the exhaust pipes once you add the 4" tips? I'm guessing about 0.5"? Thank you
Looking forward to a review video along with outside & inside sound clips.
Any reason you didn't just get the switchpath conversion kit? JW as I am planning on doing that with my Track exhaust!
The resonator on this APR is amazing. That's one reason.
Now that you have had it for a while, what are your thoughts? Drone? Valve rattle? Still getting the vibrations?

It seems like you need to crank those clamps down some more. You should not have leaks.
I prefer the INVIDIA q300 myself.
Sounds awesome and not as obnoxious.
Quick question? How loud isn’t if’s you dying 70-80 MPH???
You got aftermarket down pipe to???
Looks amazing we need more sound videos!! Also what lowered springs are you using?
How's the break in? Any rattling I was looking in to this exhaust.
I don’t have any rattle at all. Might have gotten a little raspier after breaking in a bit but still sounds nice.

Yes. That’s exactly why.
@@EVERYTHINGcpo Thank you. Looks like I need to get one. Can you tell me whenever you get a chance, how long is it?
Is the Exhaust tip Size 2.5inlet "4"?
i need those lifts. can you link them?

@@GTiz4Ever a little. It is nice to buy things they have in stock and I can just drive over and pick up.

Did you happen to notice a lot of extra overall vibrations from this catback? Like in comparison to awe or stock?

Have this R the GPF?
:(
Hat kein OPF / GPF. Sieht man im video wenn man genau hinschaut. Custom DP
Hey cpo, I am considering getting the APR cat-back with an IE down pipe, how do you find the sound and is it as loud as the other one
Definitely better than the one I removed. Valves is nice. Glad I went back to them. I’ve been really happy with the APR. And it looks great!
Are you selling the AWE?
I will yes
