  • @TPrower
    @TPrower 3 месяца назад +64

    Paul Atishon-Wimperson is quite the on-the-nose stereotype of his pun namesake: egotistical, believing he’s the smartest man in the room, only hearing what he wants to hear, and, as we learn here, determined to give only non-answers to questions, dodging them completely, or else only answering when it reflects positively upon him or his family. Given how his family is reputable, which is why no one can speak up about his aggressive campaigning style, I can’t help but wonder if his grandfather knows what a spoiled narcissist his grandson is.
    Also, even if we don’t know why Phoenix is being so mysterious, he’s proving to be a very dangerous opponent, surprising the whole court with the idea of Dr. Buff’s death being murder, and even managing to get the judge on his side for once.

    12:20 If only the Atishons stepped in to protect Misty Fey during DL-6, maybe the Fey Family wouldn't have become laughing stocks when Yanni Yogi was accused by the channeled Spirit of Gregory Edgeworth for killing him in an Elevator. The Atishons didn't care about the Fey Family at all! Misty Fey would've had the Crystal of Ami Fey, the Fey Family had the Urn with AMI FEY'S FIRST NAME ON IT, which contained her Spirit before Maya accidentally broke it. Yeah, Mia helped her fix it, however, it was later shattered by Pearl, again, on accident, but, she tried fixing it, she just couldn't remember what it said, so spelled "AMI" as "I AM". It was then properly fixed when moved to Adrian Andrews' Museum of Ku'rain artifacts, Lordly Tailor. Is that spelled correctly?

    It's not the fact we have no insight into Phoenix's thoughts that gets me about going up against him. What gets me is up until now, he's spent half his trials trying to get a word in edgeworth. But this time is different. He's spending most of his time listening. Waiting. Only speaking to the court when he has to or when it helps his case in some way.
    I'd say it's both because this is a civil case rather than criminal, and the fact it's his own apprentice he's fighting against. He knows his own tricks well, so he has to change his strategy in order to stand a chance.
    It would be one thing if it was a typical action series using this trope, but the fact that it's a courtroom drama somehow makes it feel way more harrowing.

  • @waferdaze8017

    Yeah, Phoenix fights REALLY hard in this trial, and it certainly makes sense, he HAS had a few sequences in the past where he was able to play REALLY sneaky games. Tricking Damon Gant into validating evidence that proved him a murderer, that forged evidence in the first trial of Apollo Justice, the entirety of the second day of Matt Engarde's trial. Phoenix could certainly pull this sorta thing.
    Of course, that leads to what I feel is one of the worst takes I've seen on this whole sequence. Effectively arguing that it's too sudden and weird that Apollo, with less experience is even able to go toe-to-toe with Phoenix. That phoenix's legal prowess is just too great. Like Ace Attorney is a game about power scaling. Honestly, the franchise has ALWAYS pointed against this. Green Rookie Phoenix in the first game was able to not only see through the murder scheme in case 4 that Von Karma orchestrated, but also caught Von Karma as the murderer in the DL-6 incident. You know, that guy who had a 40 year perfect streak in court. Ace Attorney has always been about the truth, even when Phoenix was defending Matt Engarde, he was able to argue in favor of Matt disturbingly well, but Edgeworth was giving a LOT of good push back. In fact, Edgeworth could've easily won that trial at multiple points, but he was also in on the fact that Phoenix had his hands severely tied. It was so tight that Edgeworth literally had to rest his case because anything else would soundly catch Matt. Phoenix is obviously working with someone bullshitting things for his own ends, but the one consistency in Ace Attorney is that the truth trumps all.

      @isawp5199 3 месяца назад +2

      That's the same feeling I had, I'd love for some actual non-murder mysteries to appear in the series. But the problem with not-murder is that usually there will be a victim who can talk about what happened, which is why the second-most common crime in mystery stories is theft that happens sneakily. And the detective genre is hard to do well in the first place, even without having to come up with an excuse for why the victim can't just point at the culprit, or without having to avoid disappointment when the police off-screen finds the culprit in their files based on the evidence.

    Actually, it's quite common IRL for people to report things to the police anonymously. A lot of people want to avoid the hassle of an investigation or avoid meeting with the police for their own reasons.

    I believe Khura'in is inspired by Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. It also seems to use language from China and India though for Rayfa's full name (Rayfa meaning spiritual flower in Chinese and Padma being another name for an Indian lotus). The more you know!
