The 2022 Mini Convertible John Cooper Works Is A Fun Way To Go Topless

  • The #MiniCooper remains one of the most iconic small cars money can buy in 2022. For those buyers interested in even more fun, the #MiniConvertibleJCW fits that bill quite nicely. Updated for 2022, the #MiniCooperJCW uses a tuned version of the 2.0L turbocharged I-4 from BMW making 228 HP. The sport exhaust even makes a few bellows and snorts when the 8-speed AT shifts and for those of you looking for a premium, compact, performance oriented convertible, this is really the only in town and it gets even better this year.

Once the top goes down you just keep holding the button and all the windows go back up for the front and back. My wife says to dig a hole big enough for her and her mini convertible when she passes away 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ she loves her mini convertible, you either love them or hate them but they are a lot of fun to drive.

I don't hate on the car they are cool LOOKING but I would never own one personally because they are too heavy for where and how I drive....I have a Miata which is fun but I want a Porsche Boxter or really the Cayman....not about looks which are way down the priority list....it's all about function ie flinging a car through the twisty mountain roads at a spirited pace

I love the center circle with interactive lights on the dash. What would make it look a lot better is if they extended the display all the way to the top with a few guages in that extra area. Or instead of the additional screen area they could add 2 or 3 analog guages to fill the space so there's no awkward blankness.

I have never been into Mini's but I really did not realize they'd updated their interior to such a degree. That interior looks flat out great; full of personality and character and things that make you feel something when you drive. Objectively, $50K is crazy; you can walk out with a 430i Gran Coupe RWD all day long for that amount---a far, far better car. However, for a person that is into the brand, this thing is awesome and we should all be happy we are still free to buy what we want, not what we are told we can have.

I know it sounds weird but newer MINI's just feel more and more like a cheap high margin BMW. The screen where the speedo was should at least be rounded to look like it actually fits in the hole. The gauges on the wheel look out of place and that HUD looks like something from 2006. Now this is fine depending on the price but for approaching 50K I just cannot see the value in the JCW even when compared to other BMW's.

    • @caglioso
      @caglioso 2 года назад

Agree, I really feel like they didn’t know what to do with the gauges and preferred the old style to the new one as it gave it more of the mini aesthetic.

But I do need to think harder about the price they want for these cars because I don't know If 40,000 or 50,000 Is some thing I wanna pay for a car with only 230 HP?? This car would need to have at Least 280 HP or 360 HP or better 380 HP?? For me to wanna spend that much money on It. They are getting to dam GREEDY with money In my opinion.

Just cos it has similar size and convertible doesn't mean it's a true competitor of the miata. The miata is significantly lighter, RWD, has manual option, 2 seats, way cheaper, and looks significantly different. Even the non-convertible GR86 is a closer competitor to the miata than this, and yet the GR86 isn't a true competitor still. Only if the 86 has a convertible, 2 seats, and smaller. It's kinda like you make the civic a convertible and call it a miata competitor. No.

The Miata is a cheap tin can. The interior is cramped, the seats are unsupportive, no real glove box, no rear seats, no real storage and it has a strange hump on the passenger side floor making it uncomfortable for your guest. The exterior paint is thin and the materials are subpar. The Mini is the way to go.

Thorough, but seriously, in a road test this lengthy, take the time to show us storage space, fold the rear seat down, and tell us how much cargo capacity there is seats-folded. For convertible owners (I’ve had many) it’s a key factor.
I like your work a lot, so just a few friendly suggestions - during editing remove the master of the obvious remarks, ie, “feels like it has more space than a Miata…”, duh, it’s a four-seater. Also the cliche laughing and chortling on acceleration, every YT reviewer feels like they have to do it, it was interesting 20 years on Top Gear, today just fake and annoying.
Otherwise keep up the good work.

Compared to Miata's 181 HP this mini SEEMS more impressive at 228hp UNTIL you stop and look at the specs....the Mini is an absolute PIG compared to the Miata by a figure approaching an extra half ton....Miata like 2300 lbs vs Mini 3143 So I am just guessing the Miata is way more fun to drive which might explain why I never see Minis on my favorite mountain road...I see lots of Porshe 911s.Caymans and Boxters quite a number of Miatas but rarely maybe never the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZs (which surprises me as reviewers say they are Miata like? go figure!) a grazillion sport bike motorcycles obviously ....the thing is people with vehicles that are really fun to toss around in the twisties just naturally keepcoming back for more while vehicles that are less enjoyable that is that fail to ignite that sport driving/riding thrill? Well folks drive em somewhere else I guess ....I mean don't get me wrong there are also folks just enjoying the scenery at a leasururly pace but those are mostly SUVs and such....maybe all the Minis are at the beach here in So Cal idk...but after looking at that WEIGHT? You can KEEP the Mini LOL

@@rzu7120 Cloth or leather. Or a fake leather.
You had me confused so I looked up a bit.
When I said plastic seats I don't mean any padded or synthetic leather.
I mean hard cheap scratch plastic that's at the bottom of the doors.

Um... you got it all wrong. The Mini is very practical. It is shorter in length than a Miata yet it seats four people, has plenty of storage space, a large glovebox and gets 30mpg all day. Can you name any other car that offers that? No you can't.
