Listening back to this (now that it’s posted) the gold foil definitely has more midrange, not so much more treble. The traditional humbucker almost sounds like scooped mids compared to it.
Wow. That gold foil has something special. Very sweet tone. I'm a fan of gfs products. I'll be wiring one of my guitars up with gfs gold foils. Nice demo man. Really good soloing 🤘
Love the sound of gold foils. The single coils sound the best (to my ear) BUT they are waaaaaay too noisy for live work. I have a pair of them in a parts Tele. The humbucker model is really close though. Great demo, tones and playing!!!
Are you referring to the GFS gold foil singles? I was thinking about the strat set for my jag, but any more hum than i deal with already is 100% a dealbreaker
@@USSLIBERTYREMEMBERER Yes I am. The parts axe I have is routed for 2 of them. They're relatively quiet at home but in some clubs, they pick up everything. This was just the guitar with no effects. If I hit my boost pedal, it was too much. My gain is set very low but it didn't help. This was just my experience though. I haven't tried the guitar at a gig since but I probably should to see if it was just the wiring in those old clubs I was playing.
It's amazing how the major sounds here are just like a drum played much too loudly in between the somewhat guitar-like noises. if only sound processors existed, then pickups might not be such an obsession. Savin' up for that Fluence set, are ya?
Great demo bro. The gold foil humbucker has a really great vibe to it! a tone I really get off on! Many pups sound good but very few have that tone that just grabs ya an says hey Homie this is a vibe you gotta have! and this pup does me that way! Now that I've heard it, I jus gotta have it!
I think I remember seeing a Peavey at some point that looked like a spaceship command center lol. I haven’t encountered a Peavey amp that doesn’t weight a ton yet!
Yeah, the humbucker is definitely what we’ve all come to know as a typical guitar sound. But the gold foil is a fun texture to bring in sometimes when I want a more lo-fi sound.

Foils for the win in all settings!
@@Gearjunkie35JasonBallou I heard you can’t roll of distortion pedal on foils, they will sound distorted from lowest to highest volume setting.
@@bluwng interesting
Excellant Demo Bro, Thanks!

Great comparison video. Thanks.
What resistance potentiometers are you using for the gold foil humbucker? 500K ? same as a regular HB?
Yes, they’re 500k pots in both guitars.
Great demo bro.

Lotta luv for your Peaveys there! Ever see a MIDI Peavey 2x12? 😎Worlds first modeling amp 10 presets. Weighs 173 lbs approx lol

Gold foils are smoother. Ceramic buckers are always louder and a bit to bitey for my taste. Great demo/playing 👍
Diggin your tunes!!
Thanks for the video! Very interesting.
HB sounds way better. Fuller, more overtones, more character, overall more "3D sounding".

sadly these pups make the drum beee way too loud
The first guitar sounds better...

It would have been more scientific to use the same guitar for the comparison of the pickups. Sorry for being that guy ;-)
It would have, but I’m lazy. The guitars at least have similar construction?
interesting
why waste my time, do a clean test or forget it.
And yet you wasted your time even more by commenting
Why don’t you buy one or two guitars, a set of humbuckers, a gold foil, and do a clean test by yourself?
@@USSLIBERTYREMEMBERER because he wants to know how they sound before he spends the money on them 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
mini eilish then he can live with the demo he’s provided
He did.
