The "low hanging guard" reminds me of the ox in German longsword. Also is it not simply a kasumi-no kamae with the tip being low due to the length of the blade?
I hope you put all of this into book form I was looking at a yagyu shinkagu sword manual that goes over all the techniques on Amazon but it cost over 200 dollars for both parts of the book it was the about the same for the Aizu ikosai style that was translated someone bought the last ones and I was bummed. I hope you can make a book putting it all together. I would gladly buy one if you ever put it into a book. I bought your Natori ryu book. On another note are you ever going to go into Ito ryu schools and thoughts on Ito Ittosai the samurai?
Really want to see this all put together, thoroughly practiced and then put into test with some possible sparring etc. Just a glimpse of what a samurai from the sengoku jidai would move like in a battle / duel is something that I’m very curious about. Professional warriors, life dedicated to warfare, life on the line. WHAT DID THAT LOOK LIKE! Keep up the work guys
If you read any of Tesshu’s stuff the “sparring” they did during the warring period was really more drills that would resemble “1 and 3 Step” sparring from karate than a kendo match. They drilled and drilled these responses, or plays, then went out and got their trigger time on the battlefield or in duels.
@ I’m not talking about sparring from the period. In the modern era we don’t fight to the death so I believe sparring is necessary to demonstrate a “realistic” enactment of a duel or battle.
This is awesome, hope to see more of this in the future, maybe add some jujutsu too💜 On the other hand, i wanted to ask, i want to become a natori ryu student, and i was wondering, what martial arts would you recomend to students? I know there is a list of things you have to cover, but i mean, what martial arts that are relatively easy to access would be a good fit for those?
Right as I planned to make a video on this, it seems this has become quite the subject. I am also creating a new school of Kenjutsu that involves sparring with steel katana. However, it is a hybridized style with a focus on the art of fighting. I'll have to roll out my video soon, would you mind if I respond to this?
Hey wondering if you can help me. I’m interested in studying a holistic Japanese martial system (covering unarmed and armed techniques) - initially I came across Bujinken taijitsu but from what I can see there is potential problems with this system. I’m looking for advice and guidance as there doesn’t seem to be much available options here in West Scotland.
Join me. I have another channel on martial arts. Samurai martial arts real training join there and follow all I do. That’s exactly what I am putting together
@@AntonyCummins thanks for this, I’ve spent a good chunk of the day going through some of your material. It’s very interesting! I’ll make further enquiries shortly. I don’t use Facebook so I’ll have to think of a workaround for that part.
I like being a good swordsman and building my skills .
Sounds great. I'm looking forward to seeing it all. Take care!

It’s to hit away a low spear thrust
@@AntonyCummins Makes sense!

No I’m going to do a selection of all. Apart from Yagyu which I will do all.

@@lukaku2095 Right. I don’t think they did that. It looks like they drilled and then went and fought.
@@williamsmith8790 They would have been fighting and killing from a young age. Thus the best techniques would come from those who survived.

Very Interesting history.
