- 1st cook on my new Jumbo Joe! A must have for anyone that wants to take a grill on an outing or vacation!
Weber Jumbo Joe 1st Cook
• We started with a really nice and thick Prime Ribeye, about 2 ½” thick.
• 24 hours in advance I salted the ribeye and placed on a rack in the refrigerator uncovered.
• Removed about 1 hour before the cook to relax at room temperature.
• Set up the Jumbo Joe with the SnS Grills charcoal basket and filled with Fogo Premium Lump charcoal. Got the grill nice and hot.
• Put the ribeye on the grill for indirect cooking. Once it reached 80 degrees and flipped to promote even heating. When I got to 114 degrees, I started the searing process.
• For searing I put directly over the coals for 1 minute each side and repeat that process 2 times for a total of 4 minutes. On this cook, I actually went 30 seconds longer on each side until I saw the crust I wanted to see. The fire was not as hot as I wanted it when I started the sear.
• Once the searing was done, I pulled the steak and let it rest on the cutting board for 10 minutes before cutting into this.
• Summery: This grill worked out exactly as I had hoped. Small enough to take with you and big enough to cook multiple steaks, burgers, chicken, etc… The SnS Grills charcoal basket was a must for me since I use the regular Slow ‘N Sear in my other kettle!
I received this as a Christmas gift from our daughter Niki and her fiancé Sean!
I also purchased the Slow ‘N Sear charcoal basket from SNS Grills. Since this grill is only 18 inches, this basket is larger than others on the market. Link below.
Also got the Weber small chimney, link below.
Stay tuned for more cooks on this new grill.

If you are watching this video and reading these comments and not subscribed to this channel you are missing out. These men are the epitome of backyard barbecuing. I’ve been trying to duplicate their cooks and following their instructions and my cooks have really improved. Hit that subscribe button!!
d307p Such an awesome comment,, thank you! That is a great way to explain how we cook, backyard barbecuing! We try and cook meat to bring out the best flavor, simple and easy with the instructions that everyone can follow. It is great to have supporters like you Dave! Cheers!
Jack uncle I'm biggest fan of you😍😍😍 ur cooking skill ultimate
Yes I'm Beautiful Thank you! The steak turned out great! I will have to check out your channel soon! Cheers!
Any reason you rotate the grill? Why not just flip it?
I am not a big fan of grill marks, but like a good overall sear. They call that the cold grate technique, while the grate is not cold, it is not hot enough to make grill marks. It is just a preference that I like the best. Cheers!
Webers are so good from the large to the small, just solid workhorses. That steak looks fantastic Craig, really nice thick cut and you got a perfect medium rare! Excellent job brother! Hope you have a great weekend and keep on grillin!
Pickles BBQ Thanks Charlie! Nothing better than a nice thick Ribeye! I always look forward to the weekend! I hope you have some cooks planned! I have some new toys on the patio and will be getting some practice in this weekend! Cheers brother!
Great first... er second cook 😂.
Smoking Dad BBQ LOL! Yes, very frustrating that the sound was not good on the first try. Jack tried his magic, but just could not make it sound good! On the plus side, I had 2 nice prime ribeyes! Thanks James!
Big ol juicy steak at 9:44... Oh yeah. WOW that looked perfect. Nicely done.
The Gallery Backyard BBQ Thanks Tommy! Yes, I just tented this for the rest and when we were reviewing this, I thought WOW is that a great shot of how juicy this was! Appreciate the comments!
Why are you spinning the grate?
Stewart Perthou It is called the cold grate technique. You don’t get grill marks and I like the sear it gives. Really just a preference, but I like doing them that way! Cheers!
The steak looks awesome. This Weber looks like a solid cooking tool!
The Silly Kitchen with Sylvia Thanks Sylvia! It really works out nice! Hopefully soon we can take this on the road somewhere! Stay Safe!
Good job Craig! It’s hard to film without the camera guy but u did a great job. My camera guy is back so it’s a relief. Keep up the good work my friend!
The Dudes Kitchen n Grill Thanks Mike! Jack and I are planning to try a shoot next weekend, our county in PA is lifting some restrictions on June 5th. We will be outside the whole time and keep our distance. It will be good when I don’t have to worry about the camera end and can just cook! Stay Safe my friend!
Awesome cook.......I’m gonna definitely try this one. I’m in Bensalem Pa not far from Philly, where in Pa are you guys?
Robert Bouch Steak turned out great! We are in the Lehigh Valley, we both live a few miles off the Lehigh Valley exit of the Turnpike. So about 1 hour plus from Bensalem. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
How is that Sam Adam's IPA? Haven't seen that in my grocery store, but I could easily just miss it. Trying to get in and out of the grocery store quickly.
What does the beer compare to? I love IPA's. Love your channel.
MrPanthers23 I know what you mean, no window shopping going on, in and out! Hard to say what it compares to, but I would say this is a medium hopped favor, not supper hoppy, but a good tasting IPA. I usually like IPA’s that are to super hoppy, so this one is one of my favorites. Plus it is 6.8%, beers fills me up the older I get, so I like the higher alcohol content! It is great to have people like you to watch out channel! Really glad you enjoy!
Nice little cooker Craig. Perfect for the park! How do you like that “meater” thermometer?
GT’s Barbeque and Cuisine Thanks Gary! It is nice and compact, but still has a decent amount of cook surface! I do like the Meater+ with no wires it makes clean up simple. The range is pretty good as well to your phone!
Nice cook on the JJ! Just got my SNS charcoal basket and my Jumbo Joe with basket will be going on both of our beach trips later in the summer and fall. Ribeye looks amazing.... nice job.
Bamakettles Thanks! It is a great little compact grill that still gives you a good amount of cooking space. The SNS charcoal basket is really nice, gives a good amount of searing area. I am going to try my chicken thigh cook with this next! Appreciate the comments! Cheers!
Holy Cow Batman. That looks awesome. You have got to love the Jumbo Joe. Best portable grill around. It is my go to camping grill. What a great “first” cook.🍺
Char Griller Thanks! Yes, for a portable grill it has a good amount of grilling space and is very compact! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful looking steak! That is the perfect grill to take on the road.
DrTasteGoodBBQ Thanks Dr! That is the reason I have been wanting this grill, so it worked out great for a Christmas gift from our daughter and fiancé. Once we can travel again, this will be going with!
I ran over the lid to my jumbo joe with the car. Weber wants almost as much for a lid as the grill costs and no one on marketplace is selling that, sooooo I’ll be getting another one 🙁
Sideyard Barbecue Ouch! It is good that these are reasonable in the US at only $70. If you look on the bright side, you will have a new grill and use the other bottom as a small fire pit? LOL Thanks for watching!
Nice job, got 2 defrosting and will do reverse sear again. Thanks for reminding me of temps to look for.
Bud-man GR Thanks! Nothing better than some nice Ribeyes! Looking forward to hear how they turned out! Cheers!
Tom here. I have to tell me how great that looks!!! I do love Weber grills. This looks great for tailgating!
Tom and Betty Biscuits This is a great compact grill that gives you a good amount of cooking space. This would be perfect for tailgating, you would have new friends if you fire this up at a game! This was a great steak and it looked good as well! Thanks for watching!
Nice sharing my friend
Lilian Morados Thank you! Glad you enjoyed! I will have to check out your channel as well!
Looks GREAT! ,,,,, (nice facial growth too!)
Ba Bill Thanks! Don’t worry, I shaved and gave myself a haircut the next day, could stand it anymore.
@@beers-jackofbbq A haircut?,,, ok, I won't say anything about that.
looks amazing keep up the great work
A Girl And Her Cows Thanks! Appreciate the nice comments and glad you enjoyed! I will have to check out your channel soon! Stay Safe!
