Striped Bass Grilled Right! SNS Tavel Kettle!
Hi Craig. I just stumbled onto your channel and I subscribed. The steaks looked fantastic. I'll have to look up that Meatstick V.
Appreciate that Ernest! The MeatStick V is pretty amazing to be able to sear with the probe in is a game changer. Cheers!
Steak looks fantastic Craig! 🔥
Thanks Tommy! We do the channel for the good food and beer! LOL Happy Holidays! Cheers!
@@beers-jackofbbq Well we are glad you do! 🤣Happy Holidays to you Craig. Cheers! 🍺
Hey Craig and Jack Cgriller here. I know I haven’t been around for awhile. Life was getting in the way of what is important. BBQ. Anyway I did pop in from time to time and your videos were ones I watched. Just moved to Oregon near Portland to retire with the wife. Hopefully in a few months things will settle down and I can get back in the game so to speak. Happy Holidays 🎄🎅🏻☃️
Well this was a surprise! Great to hear from you Dave! I look forward to seeing you back in action, I don’t watch as much video as I used to, but will watch for yours! Enjoy retirement and hope you get back to the important things soon! Happy holidays to you and your wife as well! Cheers!
Great video as always. Can't go wrong with a reverse seared ribeye and the cold grate method. Cheers!!
Thanks Frank! I saw you did a great explanation on another comment! You are correct, can’t go wrong and my favorite way to cook a steak! Cheers!
Why not finish them on hot grates for better searing ?
Its called the cold grate technique and it gives you a better more even crust as opposed to just the hot grate marks
I will give that a try next time.
I saw Frank gave a perfect explanation! I am not a grill mark fan on my steaks so this is my go to method! Cheers!
Thanks Frank! You are making my job easy! Cheers!
If you remember after you try this, let us know how you liked it?
Great job on those steaks,🍻
Thanks John! My favorite steak and these turned out nice! Cheers!
You and Jack,,, are GREAT! Wonderful tutorial, and the food ALWAYS looks amazing,,,,,, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appreciate that! Great to have supporters like you! The food tastes amazing as well! Cheers!
No drip tray??
Not a bad idea and I should use one for this type of cook! Not something I usually think of on the gas grill! Cheers!
I hate assembling grills and smokers. That’s why I buy them at Ace Hardware. They assemble and deliver to my house. Great video, Craig. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Jack.
Assembling them is not my favorite thing as well, but these are pretty easy especially since this is the 4th one we did. Appreciate the well wishes and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well! Cheers Dave!
I’m wondering what the max temp on the internal sensors are. Are they over 212F? The 212F limit was the downfall of the 4X. I would always cook a pork butt to around 210 internal, and so the most proximal sensor would always give me temperature warnings because it was so close to the outside of the butt….
It is 212F. I am going to ask more questions about that max temp and get back to you! In case you saw my response before I did this edit, I just remembered the pulled have was done with the 4X and I did get the warning near the very end. I took that to about 205. Cheers!
I did follow up with MeatStick and 212F is the max for the internal temps and the warnings will start a little early. I will have to do more experimenting with mine. Have a nice thanksgiving!
@ Same to you sir.
Great tool, looks like a nice Xmas gift from Santa
It really is a great tool! They just went available today and it is the best wireless that I have used. The WiFi on the base worked really well! Searing with the MeatStick in was really nice to monitor the temps! Cheers John!
That is very clever!
It is pretty amazing how well this was made! Searing with this is great! Cheers!
I always do mine the exact same way. Great video.
Thanks! That was my first time doing the rotisserie, so I was pleased by how it turned out! Cheers!
I bought the bullseye after seeing this video, I just can’t get that same color crust on the outside even when following your instructions. Any tips?
Are you salt brining the day before? That helps with the crust and color. Sometime I don’t get the same results as well, but went back and watched this one since it has been a few years. We had some good flames from the drippings which helps with that color. Grease fire is good and bad and this time it worked. Let me know if that helped? Cheers!
Thinking of getting a bullseye Lil shy due to grease fires Do you use drip pan always and do you put lil water in it or use it dry to start Thx Food looks great 👍
The one thing I learned is to keep it really clean to try and avoid the grease fires, still may get some. I do normally use the drip pan and when doing a reverse sear, I remove the drip pan for the searing to get maximum heat. I typically do not use water, but you could on a pork shoulder or brisket since I would had the drip pan. I was getting some smoke through the pellet box and one viewer said it was because of the large pan. So I would recommend just using the size pan that is needed for the meat you are cooking. Hope that helps. Cheers!
@@beers-jackofbbqthx
Oink!! They look delicious
Something different, but good! Cheers!
Dood.. thanks but slow down... outside inside.. I'm trying to follow but I've got to grab a different video.
Hey Todd, we try to not show the dead space to keep our videos shorter. I always try and put the instructions in the show more description. Here is what we had: • Started with just under a 3 lb Tri-Tip from Weis Markets. • Salt brined the Tri-Tip 24 hours in advance. • 2 hours before the cook I seasoned it with Pit Patriot All American BBQ Seasoning. • Had the Frontgage gas grill set up for indirect with the 2 outside burners on Medium. Temp was a little high at 350 so we turned down to low and it held around 300. • Placed the Tri Tip on the center indirect until it reached about 80 degrees and then flipped it to promote even cooking. Once it reached 110 we pulled it and turned all the burners to high including the center burner. • Seared the Tri Tip on both sides for a total of 4 minutes, flipping every minute. Then pulled it to let it rest. Cheers!
The ribeye may have turned out great, but your video presentation is horrendous. You don't know your products without looking at the label,, you didn't use a drip pan and you failed to remove the ties immediately after removing the ribeye from the grill---rookie at best. Save your time and quit doing videos.
Great video. I always dry my chops out. I need to do a quick cook like u just showed me. Getting good pork helps too. Love the hat. I have a shirt but I might need one of those caps
Thanks Derrick! For pork steaks/chops I like the hot and fast. And you are right, good chops makes the cook easy! The hat is a one of a kind. My daughter made the shirts and made me that hat. Since then we have a grandson and my source has a lot more to do than make products for me. LOL Worth it for sure, my grandson is now 2 and something else! Cheers!
They looked great:) Time for another one..........
These were good! Thanks! Cheers!
It’s late,,, and now I’m hungry!!!! Thanks!!!!!!! (Looks great)
Glad I could help! Cheers!
The seared looked great on those steaks
These turned out really nice! Cheers Dave!
With the price off beef these days, good alternative. Nice job.
When I first moved out and was single, this was my go to steak and still enjoy them! Cheers!
another cut of meat I never heard of! Nice cook
These were unique and the first time I had them. Very good! Cheers!
If I only had room for another grill. Nice assembly and cook. Been many years since I needed to put a grill together.
Every time I put one together I always say I could do the next one much faster. And you always forget until you need to do it again! This is an awesome kettle! Cheers!
Now I need to learn what a Picanha is and where to find. Nice cook. There are times you need to pay attention and you do
Pretty much a top sirloin with the fat cap still on. The fat is key when cooking this. Costco has them as a 2 pack. Cheers!
Just picked one up on Amazon, not much more than the other one, and it’s far more sturdy. I’m moving up from the 18” travel kettle, which I will relegate to camping from now on.
Yes, they did a great job with this one! It is very solid! I do love my travel kettle and still use it when I am doing something smaller! Cheers!
Thanks for a great video, today I put the Weber Performer away in the basement for the Canadian winter and brought out my SNS 18" Travel for the winter. The SNS traveler is better in sub zero temp since it smaller. Again thanks for your video
Thanks John! Yes, the leaves are turning and we have had a few nights close to freezing so it is that time! Good point on the Travel Kettle! Cheers!
U never seasoned that meat ???
I typically do not season smashburgers, just like the flavor of the crust and the bacon carries enough salt for me. I grew up not using more that salt and pepper, so I still often just use that on steaks. Cheers!
WTF DUDE
Not sure if that is a good wtf or not? Steaks were good! Cheers!
@@beers-jackofbbq WTF AMAZING!!!! haha thanks for the reply.
I thought that, but I get some unique comments from time to time! LOL
Looks, and I’m sure tastes, amazing!!!
Yes, to both! Very beefy flavor! Cheers!
Found your channel during Covid and bought swag and all. Still with ya!!! Love you guys!!! DD…
Yes sir Derrick! Always appreciate your comments! We have slowed down some, but will still keep doing the videos! Cheers!
That was a great cook. Bet that bite was delicious.
Thanks Dave! I do like that flavor of the beef with the hint of salt when I make Picanha. Cheers!
Thank you
Appreciate you watching! Cheers!
Good looking sandwich. I’m waiting for the Scottish Highland beef to come back in stock
From what they told you, that should be soon for the beef! Cheers Dave!
Nice one fellas!
Thanks Dash! We have slowed down some, but I still see you are going strong! Cheers!
@@beers-jackofbbq I'm trying man. The hamster wheel grind can be tough at times.
It is impressive for what you put out! It was starting to feel like a job for me, so we slowed down some. Still consistent, but about 40% less. Enjoy the holidays!
Great cook. I need to know about that dome though. Innovative.
I can’t take credit for the idea, saw something similar on FB and came up with what I use. We did paint the decent sized washer that goes underneath to hold the magnetic knob. Nice for no cleanup and you can choose the size of the cover that you need. Cheers!
Loooooks GREAT!!!
MEAT! Love a good sandwich and these were tasty! Cheers!
Great channel, glad I found it. Just ordered the OG SNS for myself.
We love working with SNS and their products have the extras I like to use! Enjoy the kettle! Cheers!
Another nice cook. I have to do some pulled pork soon.
I don’t do them often because I usually do a pack from Costco and have a lot of meals in the freezer when done! Cheers Dave!
SonOfaGun,,,,,, Looks amazing!!!!!!!!
Tasted amazing as well! Cheers!
Hi JaIck I am surprised that you don't know that if you turn off the motor and restart it, it reverses the polarity and the basket turns the other way. Also surprised that no one else mentioned this to you. Not very many experienced BBQ chefs out there.
Hi Paul, Craig here, Jack does the video and I do the cooking. On my SNS and Kamado Joe rotisserie they both do change direction when you turn it off and on. In this video I mention a few times that Jack’s rotisserie for his grill only goes in one direction and a few times I turned it off and started it again and it only goes in one direction. Appreciate the suggestion because I am sure some people do not know that about most rotisseries do change direction, but unfortunately for this cook it did not and the reason I needed the heat from underneath. Cheers!
I was assuming that he was using all Napoleon products. The Napoleon rotors go both ways. I have had the same BBQ for 24 years good for me . Not so good for Napoleon . Their equipment lasts forever if you take care of it.
His grill is a Frontgate and unfortunately for me it was the first time trying the basket on his grill and I initially didn’t realize why it was not cooking properly. Once I realized what was happening, I did turn it off thinking I would change the direction, but that did not work so I needed to put the regular burners and not rely on the infrared on the back. Napolean does make some good products!
How many wings can you fit into the basket?
Depending on the size of the wing I am going to guess about 20 +/- for the size. I never counted, but did do a family pack a few times and they fit easily. Cheers!
Always amazing cooks brothers...SnS and Firecups great combo...used one in our last competition 🔥
That is a great combo for sure! Appreciate it as always! Cheers!
I WANT!!! They look GREAT!
These were good! Cheers!
Looks awesome guys!
Appreciate that! The MasterKettle rocked 250 for the entire cook! Cheers!
Never heard of Pork Wings. Looked like they were very tasty.
I did them once before from Porter Road, but they were not this nice! Cheers Dave!
Where do you get the grill cover
I went to the SNS Grills site and under accessories you can choose this. It will take you to the Walmart site to purchase. Hope that helps. It does fit nicely. Cheers!
Stone Arch Farm meats are outstanding and you sure did it right
Yes, their meat is excellent! Thanks for watching! We have a bunch more videos coming out as well. Cheers!
