That kayak looks like it is an Eskimo Topolino, which is made of HDPE, a very compressed kind of polyethylene. They will scratch, and of course some plastic will be lost through contact with rocks, but nowhere near the amount that rotomolded PE boats lose on a river. And even that is a very limited amount of plastic.
And on top of that, us kayakers clean up any litter we find on rivers, rope, plastic bottles ect. So on a whole the rivers are left greener than we put on.
So cool to see a Topolino running the stuff that it was designed for!
(I only own a Topo-Duo nowadays, but I enjoyed paddling a Topolino as well)
Out of interest, do the Kayaks leave strips of chipped plastic over the rocks you slide over? Just wondering how the plastic pollution is mitigated.
